Naivety cost us that game. Depay was non existent, so maybe 2 games a week is too much for him. Smalling day dreaming for the second, plus dodgy keeping.

Would think LVG will be livid with the team, played as individuals when we went behind.

Nothing better than losing before an international break and having to wait 2 weeks for the chance to bounce back.
This is the international break I hate the most. The season just fecking started, ffs.

A few things (more than a few)

    • We need additions in attack and Rooney needs a few games out
    • We simply play too many sideways balls
    • Atkinson gave us nothing
    • Depay and Schweinsteiger looked tired
    • We weren't spread the play wide enough until Young came on
    • The Caf has no idea about football as we thought we started our strongest XI
We were "ok" until about 60 minutes. When they made the change we didn't react tactically and stupidly got caught on the counter attack despite already having the lead. That was a coaching issue for me - as well as being directly from a bad, bad touch from the undroppable King of Man Utd Wayne Rooney.

WTF happened? 1-0 at comfortable, albeit not enough desire being shown to get a second with the sloth football. Then throw the game away with 2 soft goals and the players look rattled. Once we went behind we never looked like equalising. Even shit teams know enough of how to exert pressure at the end of the game, we've lost it completely.

On paper we have a very good team, yet are unable to reflect it on the pitch over and over again.

Shaw's performance going forward was offset by the fact, fact, both attacks that scored came through the space he is supposed to defend. Shaw was chiefly responsible for both goals against us. Perhaps he should have had cover, but he didn't even attempt to make it back. On the first goal he was so far out of position that it didn't matter.

On the second goal he was no more than 10 yards or so from the play and he was jogging, watching the attack.

Shaw could be world class, but he needs to sort that out.

Guess Fergie was doing it all wrong all those years. If you have instructed your players in training, there's no need to get off your throne to encourage, push , yell or instruct your players during the game.

Dont really see the point in LvG staying. His decisions are baffling. What a mistake it was to make Rooney captain. Our football is fecking shocking to watch. We spent a ton of money, yet we still have clear weaknesses across our team. I dont see what Van Gaal offers at all.
yeah thats right lose our first match of the season and call for the mangers head.

aye, its not a good sign when losing doesn't evoke a bit of passion from the management.. is this what we can expect from now on?
What gets me is that he was always up and about during the World cup with Holland, why not do it here? Or even let Giggs up to try and stir them into action. I can see that maybe he doesn't want to distract his players and let them play the game hes prepared them for but seriously show something down there. Make DDG stay and dump Romero to the reserves, theres probably a reason why he has never really held down a first team place anywhere, both the goals today he should have done better. Even the own goal in the Champions league he should have saved. Rooney how long does he want on the ball before shooting 12 yards out?

Hate Swansea, but well deserved. No use getting too disappointed. The powers that we need a striker but at this late stage who?

That's not the reason we lost today though. Quite a few of his passing should have generated into goals but who did we have to score?

What? You said you're off, why are you still here?
Because the game's finished and now I'm back! I watched it without the distraction of this thread which is hot-headed at it's best … but nothing like the thoughts of rational, real football supporters EVER! Including you.

So, you got what you wanted! Happy United fan are you? Now you can fecking moan! Say something constructive that makes sense or shut up!

    Er...sorry...near Southampton.
Possession over everything is not a philosophy that looks like working for us at all. I thought me might have turned a corner with the Brugges game, despite their obvious limitations, but...not so much. A bit of composure and much would have been possible in this game - it was missing, along with a sense of urgency and consistently sound decision-making. LVG also took off the wrong players and his tactic of focusing on notes rather than being up off his seat feels questionable at best.

We have some really good players but continue to be less than than the sum of our parts. LVG is paid the big bucks to do something about this and, at present, he isn't.

I really didn't expect anything from this game to be honest, went 1-0 and thought we could hold on but idiocy and shite keeping from a shite keeper cost us. Can't be really too upset though, just extremely disappointed in some of our players.

We've been only scoring a goal a game all year in the League, dropped points was bound to happen if we conceded and that happened, no surprises there.

So, after watching Rooney, do people still believe that Berahino is not good enough for United? There is no one better around at the moment that we can get our hands on.

That's pure bollocks! Shaw did not give the ball away, nor was he at fault for the poor goalkeeping
To say he was chiefly at fault is shite

For all LVG's ruthlessness , I have never seen a player hold the manager by the balls like Rooney has with Van Gaal. We could buy the barca front three and he would still find a way to shoehorn Rooney somewhere in that attack.

2 seasons now and we haven't shown anything up front, our play has been slow and predictable. We used to bombard teams in the last 5-10 mins of games and keep them pinned in but it doesn't happen anymore. I don't think we should sack him but he needs to do something different as the current philosophy isn't working.

A bit too late in the game, plus credit to Swansea not letting loose one bit. Teams playing us are very confident nowadays. United has spent a lot but still there's no fear factor to be restored.
I was being sarcastic. There was no urgency - Carrick was tempted to pass back with our last touch of the game.

It was a trap he fell into. They removed their winger and left him that space invitingly. He's a young lad and it was naieve. Van Gaal should have got the message across to Schneiderlein and Schweinsteiger at that point for them to cover and sit behind the ball.

You're right but we simply didn't do enough in attack. I thought we were not too bad in the first half and then at the beginning of the second half, but once we were 2-1 down we didn't do enough to get back into the match.

Is there a player out there for us that you could say has a free reign to go and do what they want? No! Too rigid and players aren't being allowed to express themselves..

Why should I be happy about a totally inept performance? What's there to be happy about exactly? I call it like I see it unlike you, I'm not here to try and pretend to be some sort of top, best man united fan ever.

And I'm not going to delude myself like a scouser.

I agree. Once we went down (in fact you could say as soon as it went 1-1) you just KNEW what we were going to do. I fecking HATE that plan B of bringing on an 8 foot tall stake of wood that we just hammer into their penalty box and hope the ball hits and bounces off....

Rooney has been dragging us. 65% possession and lost 1-2. Why aren't there questions being asked of LvG?

The worse thing was during the last 10 mins, i was sure we would not score. I was thinking if rooney got injured we will have to sign a new player maybe that is the only way we get stubborn van gaal to get another striker. It was a very bad game for rooney, he has no pace, no strength, no explosiveness and no ability to finish. Long long time to next game, no time to buy anyone, we have probably fecked up our season before it even started.
Ferguson was right, should have sold rooney for 40 million to chelsea, what a shambles this is.
