Its both good and bad and I'm not sure how its going to affect him mentally and good news is possible chance of him signing contract extension.
Also is that true that Real can't sign any until 2017 or so? transfer ban bla bla, read that some were.
No ban has been announced. If there is a ban they'll spend months appealing. No one knows which transfer windows (if any) they'll miss.

Well, either his agent made a mistake in thinking it wasn't required, and so he could indeed be assured of both the move and his loyalty bonus, or he was nervous of the thought of handing in a transfer request yet still failing to get the move and it angering the fans even more (which, to be fair, wouldn't be particularly paranoid - the reactions when players do hand in transfer requests are generally ridiculous, considering said player is agreeing to give up a bonus by doing so).
Surely if he hands in the request at the begining of summer, we get the deal done in July?

I'm still wondering if Madrid are going to take a crack at getting La Liga to agree a loan deal until they can register him. I know the loan rules are different to the transfer ones.
Why would United agree to a loan move though? Unless Madrid are happy to pay the funds and lose Navas... Madrid are also not willing to appeal the transfer timeline...

We might, yeah. Nobody knows.
What Dans said is the only thing we could have realistically done that would have changed the outcome we have now, because it doesnt look like we are responsible for this scenario. So as he said, the only thing we could have done that would have changed it is to lube up and bend over for them. Which I absolutely would not at any stage in this saga have advocated. Screw them.

I've not really been following this one too much in the past couple of days, so where's this whole appeal possibility thing coming from?

If Madrid were willing to pay something reasonable, yeah. He may have been unsure of how determined they were to get him this year, rather than next.

I agree, we would have heard cries about bending down for them once again and rightly so. Madrid thought they will get DDG for whatever the sum they were willing to pay.

It's kind of funny and obviously there are worse predicaments in life than being paid exboritant amounts of money to pout for 6 months - but you have to feel a bit bad for big Dave here. He's been an utter star for us for 3 years, kept his mouth shut and just wanted to (entirely reasonably) move home.

That he got caught between two idiots in a pissing contest isn't really his fault, and he's gotten screwed by both of them who have demonstrated not a lick of care about his well being whatsoever.

Kind of sucks - again I realise his life is better than 99.999% of people on Earth - but we used to be a club that didn't let young players down like that. Never, EVER would have happened under Fergie.

Apparently Guillem Ballbag said on sky that Madrid waited till the last minute because they were sure United would lower the demand of €40million. We didn't so they stumped up but made it too late.

If that's true then fair fecks to Ed. Means we never backed down and never let them act the big bollocks.

Can we change the 'HE' in the title to 'DAVE'? Thanks.

What did he say?
That this wouldn't have happened under Sir Alex when David Gill was still here too, since we wouldn't have let De Gea's contract get to this stage when he was one of our best players.

I don't feel sorry for him. Want to know why? Cause he didn't sign a contract. If he did all this would have gone smoothly.

They're heavily outnumbered though by the previously quiet South American goalkeeping experts although perhaps on a par with the plethora of bedroom based sports lawyers.

Its a right smorgasboard of professionals in here you know.
Don't forget the international scouting network we have too.

Serves De Gea and Madrid right tbh. Not that we win either, he's now going to feck off on a free.

To a point. I dont feel any resentment towards the lad at this stage, as long as he performs (if and when called on) I have no issue. BUT. My sympathy is tempered by the fact that if he REALLY wanted a move, he should have handed in a transfer request. He wanted to play it clever, get a bit of extra money: fine, but he must understand that was his decision, he took the risk, it blew up in his face and he can only blame himself. So I disagree that he should be seen as a blameless victim. Three parties were pursuing their own interests here.

Which Im sure he understands, hence my confidence he will knuckle down and do what's right for the remainder of the season.

I just hope Van Gaal doesnt play silly buggers.

He refused to sign new contract. What's LvG supposed to do?

I don't recall us selling Ronaldo immediately when he wanted his dream move. Were we 'letting him down' as well?
