Why would United agree to a loan move though? Unless Madrid are happy to pay the funds and lose Navas... Madrid are also not willing to appeal the transfer timeline...
What Dans said is the only thing we could have realistically done that would have changed the outcome we have now, because it doesnt look like we are responsible for this scenario. To a point. I dont feel any resentment towards the lad at this stage, as long as he performs (if and when called on) I have no issue. BUT. My sympathy is tempered by the fact that if he REALLY wanted a move, he should have handed in a transfer request. He wanted to play it clever, get a bit of extra money: fine, but he must understand that was his decision, he took the risk, it blew up in his face and he can only blame himself. So I disagree that he should be seen as a blameless victim. Three parties were pursuing their own interests here.
