I can't wait until his unavoidable crash comes. He is being tutted as the new Messiah for feck's sake. Omg Pepinho, have my babies, a woman with royal blood said yesterday at a dinner with the queen, or something like that. The most overrated manager in the Worl...in the Universe.

I may be the odd one out, I do believe he will make a switch to United. SAF wanted him before he retired, he travelled all the way to NY to meet with him but Pep already gave Bayern his word. I honestly doubt, he will be available and we will just let him go.

No but people probably overrate what he could do for us. He's clearly excellent at coaching excellent players which we sorely lack.

My understanding was the feeling about Pep following on from LvG was that LvG instituted a new "philosophy" at Barca, Pep took this on with the youth teama nd then carried it through when he took over the full team.

Could be wrong though, thats just what iv always assumed based on what iv heard.
I don't see that at all.

Van Gaal's legacy was loads of dutchmen.

If anything, it was Cruyff's foundation, which Van Gaal did his best to disassemble, that Guardiola built on.

Actually, it was Rijkaard that laid the foundations for Guardiola...

Voted the best city in the world
One thing I wouldn't understand is that pep "supposedly" loves clubs steeped with history (every club has history I know, but I'm talking trophies, success etc) & he's openly admitted that old trafford and united intrigues him.

If he's a man more intrigued by history, stadium, fans, making players better (& not necessarily trophies) and not money....surely if he has 2 identical offers from us and city it should be a no brainer? Though I can still see him choosing City. They're all full of shit IMO.

I was talking in a longer term, which is all Van Gaal could have for Guardiola at barca anyway.

Rijkaard too came only due to Cruyff's recommendation fwiw.

i am quite surprised with United's lethargic approach to everything these days. We may not like how City do things no one can deny the ambitions they have of being the best team in the world. These guys are making big movements but we are too blinded by our hate fro them to see them creeping up on us. If we think our history or the biggest club tag will carry us on, we are having a laugh. If we carry on at this rate, City will surpass us on all fronts. 10 years from, history will write facts. Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown, just ask Liverpool.

I don't understand where the defeatist groupthink on here that he's already signed for City comes from.

I don't think he's any more likely to join us than City or Chelsea but this common acceptance that it's a given doesn't make sense.

He's come out and said nothing is agreed yet but he wants to come to England. If an agreement is in place, there is no reason at all for him to do that.

If he's angling for a better contract, he can quite clearly point to United and Chelsea and say there are options available there if he wants to put pressure on the Sheikhs for a better deal. If it's reached the stage that they are playing hardball to the extent he needs to go public, then there is still room for us to negotiate with him.

He is quite clearly angling for the best possible deal in the best possible circumstances amongst 3, possibly 4 major English clubs. That makes perfect sense and is what any smart professional would do if they held the cards he does.

By 2017, it will probably look something like this:

Pep at City
Simeone at Chelsea
Klopp at Liverpool
Wenger at Arsenal
Giggs at Man Utd
And the league table will probably look just like that!

I think we have a good chance of getting him. I seem to remember him mentioning the OT atmosphere previously and how he liked the stadium. We've then got him mentioning today about how the stadium is important as well.
Fergie wanted him when he left, which Pep was aware of, so I don't think its certain he'll go to City at all. 50/50 at the moment imo.

If we get Pep then perhaps we'll get Neymar too :)

The thought City are considered favourites for anything over United worries me. Not saying that we have exclusive rights to everything but this just shows how far we have fallen or how far City have caught up to us. History aside, the best players and managers should be queuing outside our door. We should be at the front of the queue for everything that is desirable (this is nothing to do with Pep, just generally). I know City have a lot of money to spend, that is good for the league and competition but we have enough to outdo them but we aren't.

I've flipped flopped from both camps on this but i actually think he's united bound. Its a perfect fit and we've had discussions with him for as long as city would have. Fergie went and had meetings with him pre retirement etc.

I think Fergie was in NY on other business and met Guardiola at some function they both attended

If Arsenal win the league and Wenger chooses to go out on his own terms with a trophy to his name, i should think that an offer from Arsenal will be the more appealing to Guardiola.

A Europe League-bound United with the squad of Van Gaal's designing, will understandably put United lower in his consideration. The board can make overtures certainly, indeed i expect that they have enquired already, yet we are the most precariously placed and brimming with uncertainty.

He's the missing piece in Citys puzzle. They've lacked a top manager since their club was formed in 2009. Best squad in England by a mile if he adds domestic and CL success with the coverage of football in social media Citys fan base will double.

If we fail to get him we must do everything in our power to get Mourinho.

I think it's more anti United than anything else, I don't think anyone would call this place a supporters forum any more(Although the youth forum is still well worth reading).

The best people to talk about United on here now are normally opposition fans.
I kind of disagree in the way there are many on here who support United and get behind the team, manager and club. Unfortunately there are probably more who would rather moan.

I don't see the point of a forum where all you do is fellate each other off, about how good we are. See the Messi thread for example.

I could see Wenger leaving if they win the league and the French national team job comes available.

You should have read previous posts before jumping in. I'm well aware a forum needs all side of points if view but I was more directing it towards those who are blatantly disrespect to a club legend who, in fairness, has done nothing to warrant it.

He is City bound. They will make him the highest ever paid manager. And we will be left with LCG..... Great that's really cheered me up (not)

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. Obviously they want him, I suspect they've made an offer - doesn't mean that's where he'll end up.

If a deal to City was done (i.e. a contract signed) why announce mid-season that he's coming to England? Why not just do what he did at Barca and let the season end and tell everyone then? Is it possible that with Mourinho seemingly imminent at United he decided to let them know he was available? Or that he's put his availability out there to see what offers he gets? I would say so. Surely if it was set in stone all of this just brings unnecessary attention on him - which it seems in the past he isn't overly comfortable with. It makes no sense if he's already committed.

There's been talk before that he fancies the United job. It'd be another challenge, different to what he's had so far. he may very well end up at City, but I suspect he's had offers from all over. Arsenal and Chelsea shouldn't be ruled out either.

As much as many expect him to go to City, I still find it kind of strange that they might sack Pellegrini when he's done a reasonable job thus far, and might even win the league for them while potentially having their best CL season yet. I mean, I can understand them really wanting Guardiola, but Pellegrini will be right to feel aggrieved if he gets the boot.

I still think Chelsea's a major possibility.
