It's not clear, for me. Ched Evans was convicted of rape, which I'd consider even more serious than the crime that Johnson has been convicted of.
It's slightly confusing that footballers convicted of other fairly heinous crimes have been allowed back.
I keep reading that his career is definitely over - I can see him being sentenced to 5 years, let out after 3 and looking for a club.
Those that threatened a furore over Ched Evans comeback held up his refusal to admit guilt as decisive - surely if Johnson serves his time, admits guilt and says he's sorry then he's free to work?

Yep. Not only is the headline totally crass it's actually not even correct by the definition of the word. And I agree, Johnson is an idiotic creep who's thrown away a professional football career and relationship with his partner and daughter to groom a 15 year old school girl in full knowledge she wasn't of legal age. When he's released he'll be on a sex offenders register and he'll have to live the rest of his life with the shame of what he did. But to call him a 'paedo' as though it's the same as what Savile or Ian Watkins did is unfair.

His conviction was controversial and has every right to protest his innocence if he believes the decision was unjust, but that discussion has been done to death.

I've had one post in this crazy forum and kept my mouth shut at a lot of posts as he was in the wrong, but one thing you can not say that guy did was commit that word "rape". Yes, by the legal definition he did as she was under the age but come the f3ck on! no, that's far from the truth @Pexbo , my point was all about the context of labeling someone a "rapist" when that word in so many people's eyes is a word that means someone forced something to do something they didn't want to. This is not that case. In my two posts i've always said he abused his status and everything, but he is not a rapist in the sense of the word most of us would use it in modern language. hence someone on the tread labeling him a rapist in my opinion is wrong.
