On point with everything he said.

Like that he's set his stall out regarding Rooney

He's clear, it's about winning and youth play if they are good enough to that end.

While I hope he doesn't embarrass the club, he has not mellowed in trying to fit to the club, is going to be antagonistic as ever.

Thought he was very respectful and honest. We are in safe hands.
Seriously dude, did you expect him to pull down his trousers and get his penis out, while asking people to touch it?
It is pre-season, we haven't played any games so everything is calm.
The excitement and drama will begin once we are a few games into the season or when we face LFC, MCFC, AFC (those are 3 massive games for Mourinho).

In summary, he poured scorn over this obsession with 4th place which Moyes and LVG had. Jose wants to win the title, not finish 4th behind LCFC. Basically, he is telling everybody that we need to raise our expectations.
He also stated there is no 3-6 year process/philosophy - we start winning immediately.
He already has 3 out of 4 of his preferred signings. He is hoping to get the 4th signing before 31st August.
He will play players in their correct positions (the opposite to what LVG did).
Rooney will either play in No.10 and do well (and if he fails, he will most likely be benched/sold). Rooney is not going to shoe-horned into any available position, just to keep him in the team, while better players are sitting on the bench.
Giggs' wanted the Manager's job. Woodward decided Jose was better, so Giggs was overlooked...Giggs did not like this, so left.

Why are people jizzing themselves over a press-conference?
It's been 3 years since we had a top/Galactico class manager. That's why.

There is always that group of people who will think a new manager's press conferences are always fantastic, until he starts doing badly and people turn against him, at which point they're always terrible.

In reality they're pretty irrelevant. A shit manager can do great pcs and a great manager can do shit ones. It's usually results and goodwill that determine how it will be interpreted.

People generally just have positive feedback as he said the right things. Fans look forward to the new season and if he can install that kind of mentality

People were jizzing over LVG as well lest we forget.

I'm a huge Mourinho fan and wanted him for ages but getting dizzy over a press-conference is a bit ridiculous.

Pretty much.

Case in point, LVG who's press conferences were and usually greeted with lots of greenies until our form went to shit and he became a dour and dull bastard.

The only thing I've found pleasing about it is him restricting Rooney to one position.

He carried himself very well in the press conference. That is the side of Mourinho that I like to see. The calculated and thoughtful genius who's seen it all since he was a kid in the dressing room and his father was the manager. We'll become a force to reckon with across Europe if we continue seeing that side of Mourinho and not the petty infighting side of him that we've also seen in him at other clubs.

I have no doubt that Mourinho will at least give hime a chance but the club has so much invested in him at the moment that he is just not providing us bang for our buck.

It makes total sense that he is put under immense pressure to perform...and it might just be the tactic that brings out the best in him.
Of course, Jose will give Rooney chances. But if Rooney stinks up the place like he did for the last 2 years, Jose will get rid of him.
Jose needs results, from Day1. None of this 3 year process garbage. If Rooney is not scoring/creating goals, he'll be replaced.

BTW, doesn't Ibra play in No.10? If so, Ibra and Rooney are competing for the same position? If Rooney does not perform but still gets to play ahead of Ibra, things will get ugly.

Watched the PC and can see some here overanalyze what he said. Regardless, Mourinho will do whatever best for him and the club.

I think that the question, instead of "are you going to play youth?", it shld be "will you give acedemy players chances?".

I am eager to see, the likes of angel gomes, axel tuanzebe, ro-shaun williams, donald love, tfm, are they given any chances, at all, in this 3 years.

I dun really care about expensive youth bought with exobitant price tags. They definitely they their chance. I care more about the academy players.
I think we gave a good number of academy players a chance last season, a couple of which are first team worthy. However, Jose
[QUOTE="togg, post: 19460206, member: 1538"It's the calm before the storm, because when the season starts and we lose a few games, feck me the volcano inside him will erupt, no doubt about that. And personally...I can't wait.
Yeah, this sure sounds like you can't wait to lose a few games![/QUOTE]

Your interpretation....not my meaning.

Fecking hell finally worth putting on MUTV again

Really enjoyed the press conference. Some very clever lines in there from him and loved him saying he wouldn't hide behind a philosophy

Good to see a winner again, not just someone who aims for top 4 like we have been for the last few years. Hopefully it rubs off on our fans too.
He handled the Giggs bit well and paid his respects towards him.

I think he showed a lot of respect to our club. He didn't give himself a silly name and there was no daft humour.

He came across as a man meaning business, respecting the legacy and reminding us that we are a winning club and he wants to uphold our traditions.

I liked it.
Aye that's how I saw it too and it was exactly what I was hoping for.

Drive and determination starting from the top down will bring us back to where we belong. Old Trafford will sense this, buy into it and start to believe again.

When Mourinho said the part about "if somebody doesn't get selected, and somebody gets disappointed" line about shipping them out, anyone else automatically think of Rooney? I do think Jose's got the balls to drop him.

I think that was a warning to him mostly yeah. I'm sure Fergie has mentioned why he wanted rid of Rooney to Jose in one of those wine sessions they have!!

I'm glad that he spelled out exactly what United is all about, winning. No romanticized bullshit about philosophy, project, transition etc... I've always felt the moment Fergie was out of the door, we immediately lowered expectations. It shouldn't be the case, excellence must be upheld.

Becks got a boot on his face and kicked out when we are still winning for chasing the celebrity life. The shit our players got away with last 3 seasons is disgraceful.

The only thing to really judge him on so far is the attitude and I don't see how anyone can feel he isn't on point with that after today. I don't think he'll mince words or move the goalposts like LVG.

So far he's said what many of us have been dying to hear since SAF left, on many topics. That's obviously the easy part but I'll back him to deliver when he's in this kind of mood. Hope it lasts!
