Honestly his reputation has suffered a lot from the Arsenal game. Up until then he was considered our best mid by far, but after LVG deployed him in a role that magnified his weaknesses, that's all people see. He should be kept for his experience, his ability to control the tempo, and his leadership.

His reputation where? RedCafe maybe lol. Schweini is easily the best midfielder you have.

Look at these midfielder's English league and cup matches for 2015/16. Stat-wise: Schneiderlin is best. Next are Schweinsteiger and Herrera.
.

Key:
3rd Col, Match eqs. = total minutes played divided by 90
4th Col, Matches = number of matches player appeared in.
5th Col, Av. Pts / time = average points per match played, weighted by time spent on pitch.
Last Col, Av. Pts = average points per match in which player put in any kind of appearance.

I don't know about his reputation in Germany, but at least in the English media and a lot of online forums (reddit, here etc.), a lot of people will say he's unfit and past his best. He's not our best midfielder simply because of his fitness record, but when fit, in our current team, he should be one of the first names on the team sheet.

On what? paper? on past dealings?
Anyone who watched us through last season could see he had a disappointing year, he's hardly done a thing at this club to be afforded such tags.

I may be the devil, but i'm not a monster
I hardly doubt we'll flog him after one season. Mourinho would soon rather sell the fro before selling a certified world class midfielder whether they are 31 or not. He brings a winning mentality to a team that is desperate to get back on top.

Now Fellaini's injured I think Schweinsteiger would fit in really well where he's been playing, real shame he won't be given a chance to show what he can do.

Even if Fellaini misses a longer duration it might not be a silver lining for him. Jose basically said he'd rather promote someone from the academy than play him.

He deserves an opportunity to play IMO. Yes, he didn't live up to his reputation last season but we generally controlled games better when he was playing and it doesn't look like we are going to be able to sell him so I hope Mourinho gives him a chance. I think he'll perform well and justify his place in the squad.

Under soil heating.
He's already played his last game for us. Sad on a human level but it's the right route forward for us.

Carrick and Herrera are both ahead of him in the pecking order. It's not happening guys.

EDIT: Oh and Schneiderlin, almost forgot he plays for us.

EDIT: And Blind.

After Jose's comments on Friday,I think we would rather play someone from the u18s if need be.

He's done here. Although He won't leave before the 1st imo. MLS window is closed anyway.

4 players in the first team ahead of him.

At a stretch, you can include TFM there too.

He can't really play the high energy, win back ball quickly role at all. His legs are gone.

I think a lot of fans are simply blinded by sentiment.

Still think he could offer us something and I'm gutted his utd career has gone this way.
We do have plenty of options though and as long as we keep winning the decision can't be questioned.
Still seems silly to completely bomb him out and make him train with the kids though. 5th/6th choice or not, we may as well keep him included. Clever bloke that probably doesn't buy into Mourinho's **** and they both know it.

I wouldn't say it's sentiment, for the first half of last season when he was fit he was our best performer out of him, Carrick and Schneiderlein. In a properly organised Jose midfield I feel he has more to offer than Carrick and Schneiderlein still, maybe not Herrera though.

Jose doesn't think so.

And he has been spot on so far.

He might have looked better under Van Gaal but the type of football played now is in complete contrast. We don't need what he offers.

Just asking, but Germany don't play Van Gaal type football either do they? And Bastian seemed fine with the little minutes he had in Euros playing this different style right?

But they don't play the Mourinho type of football either.

Which has been my main contention. He doesn't fit Jose's plans.

People hoping for a change of heart by Mou are simply wasting their time. Pretty sure Bastian knows that too.

Oh not arguing with you. Just saying that if he adapted to the way Germany, Bayern play, why wouldn't he be able to play Mourinho's way if given a chance?
Anyway, Jose doesn't like him so that's that.

Don't think so.

He's simply not up to it fitness wise to play in a midfield two for us in the premiership. We don't need a dictator either in midfield. And for games that we do,we have Carrick.

I don't think there is anything personal with Jose. All the players not included in the first team have been treated the same.

Not really. He at least gave them a run out in preseason. So I can't think of anything else except he doesn't like him at all. Doesn't matter now. Sure he'll rock up to the MLS when they're window opens.

That's because they had not gone out to a major tournament.

Bastian came back much later.

I do think the decision to get rid was made much earlier though. But considering Jose had 6 months to watch United play,he was obviously prepared.

I wonder why people think he doesn't like him. They have never worked together. Some people claimed it was because he was a Van Gaal man. But isn't Blind much more of a LVG man? Same nationality, played for the team where Van Gaal was both a coach and technical director(and a legend to boot),with both him and his father being vocal when Van Gaal was fired. Surely that would make him prime candidate for ostracizing.

But because he is a very good player, nothing like that has happened.

It is more likely that Jose doesn't rate his abilities as a player. For some fans ,it has to be something more.

At least now Bastian can focus on what he thinks really important and that is watching his fiance play tennis. I don't think United will miss him, and i do think he got what he deserved based on his attitude towers the club, the way he traveled while being "injured" even if that was permitted by LVG.

So annoyed at how Jose has been with him. He'd be the ideal partner for Pogba sitting deeper spraying the ball around.

He's forgot more about football than Fellaini ever learned,

I trust Mourinho's opinion over yours, not being an arse, but I really do.
