Played well today and his chasing down of the ball for the goal was great, I have a proper soft spot for Tony V.

Hes a machine. Just keeps going and going.. and going... and going.
Glad he got a goal. Was hoping he would position it on the line and smash it into the net like weve seen Rashford do before.

Looking over my shoulder.
He actually looked a little tired in the first half, but then he improved a lot in the second. Fabio is quick, but he ran past him like a breeze late in the second half. However, his passing wasn't up to his usual standard today. Not sure if anyone has any stats to back that up?

Turned into one of my favourite players over the past 2 seasons. Has improved in keeping possession. Terrific engine and great attitude

Mourinho seems to get more out of him than SAF did and has complete confidence in him

That has increased Valencia's self confidence as a player and as a senior team member.

I'd like him to become captain.

He can't speak English, and if he can he certainly hasn't shown it so far. Ain't happening. I would like someone like Herrera to get it- but only if he learns to calm down.

Aren't many out there that's available and he's been top 3 this season in the team + very consistent. Don't think anyone would like to replace him, at least not if they've seen his season this far...

Good man Valencia, he is a machine on the RHS.

Now, on that goal, he will never have a better opportunity to score his first left footed goal of his career, too bad he passed up on it. I guess he proves once again that he is 100% right footed; who needs a left foot anyway?

What a beast for the goal! Thought he played really well in this system with much more support and on the flanks. To have juice in the tank and score that from Valdez was beautiful. Absolutely loved it.

He has scored with his left foot at Wigan and a cracker goal as well if I remember it correctly.

Some stingy feckers on here giving him 6.6  screw thinking about replacing Carrick. How on earth are we gonna replace this guy? Guess Weigl will do.

What a player this guy is turning out to be for United. Gives us so much drive down that right hand side and also has improved his defensive side of the game too. If only we could replicate that down the left then we'd be such a force in terms of the quality of our wide play. Still yet to really replace Evra since he moved on. Next season will be huge for Luke Shaw. Either he grows into that role and makes it his own at United for the next 10 years or he might have to be moved on if he doesn't improve next year.

For anyone else that didn't catch the full quote,

“I don’t see it as a reward,” Mourinho said of Valencia’s contract extension. “He is simply the best right-back you can have, there is no better right-back in football .

“It isn’t a reward for him, it is a privilege for us to be able to keep such a good player and man.”

The man is a machine. That run in the 92nd min, still able to put full beans on, and then closing the keeper down so well he brought on that error.

Massive relief when that went in for certain

I still remember the first time he filled in at right back. Think it was somewhere tough like Chelsea away. We all dreaded it.

Now it's the perfect position for him, and doesn't expose his lack of a consistent ball like his last years as a winger

What a transformation this man has done when you think about that we bought him as a replacement for Ronaldo as an attacking winger, to a rock solid full-back.

I think Jose will use him a lot, still has something to offer, doesn't mean we don't need a new RB sooner rather than later
There is more chance of Gary Neville coming out of retirement and starting for us than there is of Valencia making the PL team of the season.

I expect this to be his final season at the club, and he should have been sold a long time ago.
Oh well, he isn't our best RB so I don't see how he is going to end up in the team of the season.
He still doesn't look like he can cross a ball properly, he either smashes it low or lofts it in the air which is easy to defend against.

Fosu-Mensah looked more comfortable at RB than Valencia did in the couple of appearances he had, I just don't see him improving under Mourinho and think he will stick to using either Darmian or Fosu-Mensah in the second half of the season once he works out his best team.

I must confess I may be biased and I'm definitely not a fan of his after watching him perform like shite for the last couple of seasons, while other players are given the boot.
and thats just the first few comments on the 1st page
Valencia is only now getting praised when he's been as consistently good since the day we signed him, yeah his crossing could be better but he plays for the badge and for that I love him, hes an absolute beast and never losses a battle 1 on 1 and runs himself into the ground every game and a great example for the kids of how a professional looks after themselves.

I don't understand how a player can have such high stamina. He plays two positions for basically 100 minutes, 3 games a week.

And the most impressive thing is that he's still faster and more energetic in the dying moments of games (not just today) than guys more than 10 years younger.

I put myself in his position and there's just no way I don't collapse if I tried to do what he does.

Absolutely amazing player, and deserves immense praise for how he has transformed his career.

Genetics but most of all, just hard work and professionalism imo.

I look in the case of Fletcher to see just how far you can go, if you dedicate yourself to training hard and doing the right things physically to match that with a great mentality. Your whole skill set raises several folds.

I remember reading he was pretty much looking at Ronaldo and took it upon himself to do the same kind of gym work.

Surprised @Sigma hasnt been lauding in it, really. He was cocksure for so long that Valencia was the best RB in the league before it was cool

I find it hard to believe that he doesn't speak English after 10+ years in England.
Every recent interview of his for MUTV has been in Spanish with a translator. As they have been for all these years.

EDIT: While Mata and Herrera, for comparison, interview in fluent English all the time.
