Modrić will be 32 in September. No thanks. Not that he isn't a terrific player. I was against signing Schweinsteiger at the time, and I'd be against this.

We should be looking at the younger generation of midfielders (Thiago, Verratti, Weigl, Fabinho, Saúl, etc.)
Modric is one of my favourite players but fully agree. We missed this one while he was in Spurs.

and did you consider how many games Lacazette started vs Morata in those seasons?
I couldn't find the stats, or was too lazy to, for the number of games started and from the bench from both players. You are implying that if Morata had more starts his goal tally would be better than Lacazette? It's true Morata doesn't get to start regularly but maybe he doesn't have enough quality to do so for clubs at that level? Also, with Juve and Real being so much superior than their opponents (bar maybe 3 clubs), isn't Morata supposed to have an advantage over Lacazette?

Average per game, or per 90 metrics, Lacazette outdoes Morata considerably in everything attack. To be fair to Morata though, he did a lot better than Lacazette in the CL but it could have something to do with the quality difference between Juve and Lyons. We each have our preferred player, which Morata happens to be that one for me weirdly. But with that many variables in comparisons and difference in league competitions and we're going to go for firepower, I'd say it's a safer bet to go with one that is already banging them in for a couple seasons.

We certainly did. A smart decision was made by Levy when he sold Modrić and Bale to Real instead of an English club.

Morata's per 90min stats are better than Lacazette in almost every category as I posted earlier

Morata doesnt start at Real because of the politics of it. He is the second highest goal scorer for Madrid behind CR and has scored more than Benzema with less minutes and starts. But he is not the only one, Isco and James have also performed better than those starting ahead of them but some people (like Bale and Benzema) are guaranteed starting spots independent of their form or performance.

Have you considered that he may have played against weaker sides that it's easier to score against whereas Benzema starts the tougher games?

He's the Spanish Welbeck.

Doesn't score enough goals and he will bring that "tall hold up play, cross it into the target man" style that some people complain Zlatan brings. Except Ibra is on another level and scores way more.

Lukaku is a much much better option and should be our #1 target this summer. Top scorer in the league and only 23. If he was English, we would be drooling over him.
I was once told by caf experts that Ibra was shite and Welbeck could score as much as goals as Ibra in Serie A.

Some of you guys are funny.

In all honesty, once Madrid went for them, Levy would never sold them to us. And it's not because of Madrid superiority over us but as you say because we are direct rivals.

Dealing with Levy is a no go after Berbatov.

Back on topic, don't mind Morata at all. If he has a will to come and we get Griezmann behind him it could be potentially great combo especially with our other options in attack.

Morata and the Griez would make a formidable attack, I believe Morata had stated that he wanted to play for Conte tho

That is a fair argument, but he has scored against Napoli in the CL, and, scored against Espanyol, Villareal, Bilbao, Alaves and Sociedad, which are 5 of the other 9 clubs in the top half of la liga.

Regardless of how much money would be spent on him, I think he would bring a different style of CF compared to what United have at the moment compared to Rashford and Martial (if United decided not to renew Ibra's contract that is but highly improbable IMHO). Even if Ibra is staying, Morata would be another option to have and would be a good option to have from the bench and whatnot depending on the opponent. I rather have Morata upfront for that plan B/C rather than have to sacrifice Martial/Mkhi for Fellaini. Plus, he is experienced enough having already played with different clubs and tactics.

United need more quality options in the squad as Ibra's injury showed that even the "very fit" Ibra succumbs to injury after he was overplayed/tired. Even if that wasn't the case, his performances suffered because of the fatigue.

Madrid should be flogging off Benzema and convincing him that he is valued and should stick around, but since they won't we should go all in for him. I think whoever convinces him over the summer will be getting a very good striker. I've always liked how well rounded he is as a player.

What the feck is the hate for Morata, he's done well this season playing out of position to accomodate Benzema who does not deserve that

Morata should be starting for Real, as should Isco and James right now but thats another story, anyway Im all for Morata coming if the rumours are true

We all love United
I still think that's a loose and lucky pass from Morata rather than actually him spotting Marcelo on that far side. Doesn't matter though, i would love him here at United if Real wants rid of him to fund Hazard but not at the expense of DDG

Going by the media, I think we maybe Belotti bound. But I wouldn't mind Morata at all. He's a good player and I think he has a lot of goals in him. He's been behind Benzema in pecking order because of politics. The BBC has been hyped for way too long. It should actually be CIA or MRI which ever you want which includes Ronaldo --- Morata --- Isco.

Fantastic from Moratta. Can't help but think Marcello would've been closed down much quicker in England than he was here.
Pedro's goal against everton says Hello!

As for Morata, he's a physical freak with decent technical skill and a great shot. Excellent in the air, good hold-up play. He's basically spanish Lukaku, only he's played at a higher level for better teams and is a proven big game player. Still, i'd go for Lukaku if I were United

Would rather Morata stays and gets the job as the starter for us. Even though he's yet to figure out that football is a game played by 11 players on a team

I really really really really want him to be our heir to Raul. He's been huge for us this season, he bleeds white, and he's a huge talent. Please just make him the starter Zizou/Cris :(

We all know the biggest reason Benzema keeps playing is because Cris wants him to play :D

Nothing wrong with that. If he thinks Karim is key to him scoring 55 goals a season, then by all means Karim must play

I love it that his gf need to suck up to him with that laughter.

He's good looking and marketable. He could upgrade on the gf - and car.

I'm really curious to know how many goals he would score. Probably enough to stick around and not enough to keep fans happy. A number like 13 in the league and 17 all together.

Perhaps, but she is pretty fit to be fair and blondes aren't usually my pick.

If we keep Dave and add Morata our Spaniard's would be the envy of even Spanish teams.

He is probably the best fit to play with Rashford. Can cope well on the flanks whenever Rashford switches to middle and wont be a ball hog like the typical CF.

Let's see your gf pal. We'd see if you could do with a upgrade too.

Im not convinced that he can be prolific but he has the best hold up play among all the strikers we have been linked with by a mile.

If we look back to mourinho's team at real, benzema was used more for holding up the ball and to lay it off for di maria, ronaldo or bale, than for his goal scoring. Given the pace we have maybe this is mourinhos vision again. An added benefit is if we can delay the lukaku buy by a year with lukaku only having a year left on his contract next summer, we can get him for half price. We can probably entice raiola to engineer that by offering him and lukaku a good signing bonus next summer.

I wonder what the chances of us getting him are without De Gea going the other way.

Morata and Rashford could be perfect played in a pertnership. Both work their arses off and bring a different skillset to the table. Here's to hoping Mourinho brings back a 2 striker formation to United.

Rashford will be wasted on the wing if we play him there to accommodate a long term option like this. If Mourinho want's to stick to his boring 4231 i hope we bring in a stop gap striker again.
