and Lyon got spanked by Ajax who finished behind Feyenoord in their own league.

which means: Roma is stronger than Napoli, Lyon is stronger than both of them because they're stronger than Roma, and Ajax is stronger than all three of them because they are stronger than Lyon. they are all weaker than Feyenoord though, because Feyenoord is stronger than Ajax. would you agree with that?

The Caf and the obsession with people's age ffs, he's 28, not 48!
Well, while I agree that his age isn't a barrier, it does mean we can only really guarantee 2 seasons at his peak, and little resale value. If he isn't a success, how much of the £40m will we be able to recoup next summer? I'd say little.

For someone like van Persie, you'd say that was justifiable, but for a flaky winger, at his price, the age should be of some concern.

That's true. And I would also agree that price is also near enough irrelevant.

The issue surrounds his quality. To be fair that is really the only point worth discussing.

In the past sure but dont know about now I think they're pretty equal at the moment or maybe the italian league is a tiny tiny bit better.
Italian league has more scope for improvement, French league will never be a big league like Serie A was in 80's and 90's whilst the Italian league can return to somewhere near that, if not in the next few years then sometime beyond that.

feck it, I've made my peace with this one. If he wants to come and Jose thinks he's what we need then let's get it done. At 28 he'll provide a good option whilst we continue our rebuild and bring Martial and Rashford through.
 Well done

He looks physically strong, with good pace and trickery. Works hard as well from what ppl say so why not.

Some how doubt you'd have made piece with this one if he hadn't played tonight.

I'll shamelessly turn my coat when he signs, not a second before.

A Crack Habit.
Remind me of Robben, old fashioned winger who appears to love running with the ball and holding width as opposed to cutting inside too often. Only issue I have is with the price but its not my money of course.

He's a decent midfielder, can play as a CM and as AM, has a good shot on him. Nothing special tbh and is bit of a dickhead sometimes.
But he always plays in the national team? He cant be that bad given the players in that midfield. I always thought he has some potential, even if nothing particularly stands out about his game

Don't know but I have a feeling after all this, this deal isn't going to get completed.

It's difficult get excited about this signing (should it happen), but I have no grounds to condemn it and have to trust Jose if Perisic is who he wants. I've heard that he is more your archetypal winger, which is good for us as we don't have that kind of player. He has goals and assists in him, I don't think there's any doubt. The question is, does he have enough? In other words, there's doubting he is a quality player, but is that quality sufficient for what we are looking for? Well I guess if we sign him then we stand to find out.

I don't think this is by any means done yet though. At this stage I'd say the Griezmann one is the most likeliest.

Yeah, he's regular, but we can't have all the best mids. :) He has potential, he can be even better imo, but his head will always be a problem. Maybe he'll prove his worth in some bigger club (or more successful as Inter is a big club).
He's valuable player to have.

Not gonna lie, after watching that game it made me changed my mind a bit. Ill accept him coming but i wont have major expectations. If he becomes our version of Pandev then ill be fine with that.

Perisic Griezmann Mkhitaryan
Pogba Herrera
Dier

Think thats a good enough 6 to challenge for the title next season.

With City's spending (Ederson and Mendy soon to be confirmed) have we reached the point where people actually want us to sign this lad just so we can say we've signed someone?

I've never heard of this lad before, but how can Jose know better than me? Grumble grumble I hadn't heard of Bailly either grumble grumble.

He's not a left forward in a 4-3-3 formation as I saw today. He's clearly one of these wingers that always stick to the flank and joined the box only when needed I assume.

If he's coming we're going for the 4-2-3-1 most of times.

His playing style is perfect for a 433 imo. Where you need width in that formation thats literally his main game so I think it would suit him more in that position, sort of what Neymar does for Barca except at an obviously lesser level.

Hmm I actually thought Martial will be better than him in this 4-3-3 for his ability to cut inside and play as a left forward more than a left winger, but I can see your opinion and sure Jose will know how to use him better than us, if we sign him.

No not really. Spending early is important, keeps the fanbase more quiet and patient, shows you mean business, players have more time to settle and you wont be desperate to do business later on where clubs can charge higher prices. The market is not that big for good players, that means we compete with some of the players with other clubs. I want the club to bring as many as possible first targets, but you know that already everything.

Does he really only have 7000 followers on twitter or is that a fake account?
Could well normally football players have that sign that they are a verified account. He doesnt seem to have it, so maybe thats why people think it is a fake and they dont follow him or it is a real fake.

He probably will fit Jose's system very well but that means Jose plans to make us like his Inter Milan and Chelsea teams. We will win trophies but will be boring as hell. I don't know if trophies are worth watching Jose's version of football.

Robben sprang to my mind as well, but the Dutchman looks the more cultured footballer. On the other hand Jose wouldn't recognize culture if it spat in his eye or tweaked his ear.

Don't really know much about this guy, but from my extensive research via Transfermrkt and youtube I can conclusively say he looks solid.

1.87m. Mainly plays on left. Can kick the ball. Runs reasonably fast.*

*If there are any openings in the United scouting team, call me.

From what I've seen of him - Euros and some Italian football - I'd be fine if we signed him. We keep playing people in wide positions who aren't suited to it - well he would be. In terms of price, we're not going to be able to judge value for money properly until well after the point of sale. If Mou wants him then I trust his judgement.
