You scored 101 goals that season. The team you have now doesn't have that many goals in it.
He's a good signing, but he's not gonna win you the league. More than fixing the defence(which short of inventing time travel and signing peak Stam and Nesta, you can't really fix. Not under Klopp, not with your current attacking players), what you absolutely need is a top striker. A box scorer who can break down packed defences.
Here's the thing, we've had defensive frailties for a while now, and in that time we've seen a number of players at the back.
So much so, that I don't think it's a matter of personell as it is training/coaching. Also the system we play, this high energy press, makes us more susceptible to concede. If we played a slower game like United do, it would help. Although it might affect our attacking play.
Still... when alls said and done. Yes, a few signings at the back would help, and there is still time for them. Just because we've opened our summer dealings with offensive players doesn't mean we don't have eyes on defensive players. VVD would have been a nice start but hey... we messed that up.
What I like so far though, is that we're being linked with the right players. Regardless or not if they're true, I haven't seen this in a long time. Aubemeyang, Mbappe, Lacazette, Keita.
Mbappe we've supposedly have a £88million pound bid rejected. Now if thats true everyone will laugh saying "he's not coming to Liverpool" but it's nice to just see us trying. There's nothing wrong with a club rejecting a bid, they have every right to do that.
It's just nice to see the ambition.
Anyway... god knows where this essay came from, but that's my thoughts
