We're the reigning champions, ffs. No, I don't think the club would get caught up in petty shite like "getting one over" on United.

Did we want Lukaku? I'm sure we did. Were we caught off guard by United's sudden interest and transfer? Yes. But I don't think our board members rang up some journalists and made sure it got out there that we payed much less for Morata than you payed for Lukaku.
We'll find out at the end of the season anyway when Chelsea's financial records are made public and people start analyzing.

Enjoy our sloppy seconds Chelsea.
Enjoy our actual sloppy seconds?

His interview is full of shit. Conte wanted me and I owe him the most in my career. He was managed by Conte for a grand total of one month.
Dude he said it back in April too and that he felt/hoped he'd work with Conte again.

madrid were making bids all summer but no where near the record fee United were demanding for a GK, Madrid thought they would get him for the cheap because he was about to go into his final season of his contract and United would accept £20 odd million for him. United turned the fax machine off

United used that against madrid told De Gea that if Madrid really wanted him that much they would have made the record bid for him(beating Buffons fee) because of the class of keeper De Gea is. De Gea felt disrespected and signed a new 5 year contract at United next week.
So you believe Perez propaganda work over our own club statement about didn't receive any official offers until halfway into the deadline day?

Were you this bad?

80% of them must be about Chelsea or moaning about United/Mourinho
Where exactly have I "acted like a manchester united fan but is Chelsea?" Its easy to damn someone off context quotes.

Can't understand those numbers, since both Madrid newspapers talk about €80+5m.

I think Madrid are the petty ones in this. If the figure is realistic, then they just didn't want to sell to Man Utd who offered more. Maybe they're still sour about the whole 'wouldn't sell them a virus' comment or not getting De Gea or something.

It is the same price we would have paid including add-ons and bonus payments, just that when it is Chelsea the additional payments aren't reported straight up in the initial fee like it is with us.

Madrid wouldn't take a 20m slice off the fee for a player with multiple clubs interested.
This, or they (Madrid & Chelsea) are working out the Danilo deal to be more expensive that it should, just to spike thing up with this Morata deal.

Actually, that's exactly the kind of name an oppo fan would use to try and "fool" the resident Caftards.

Along with DegeaManUtdHero, ManUtdfan4lyfe, Rasherz19 and PogbaSkillz. Ridiculous.

You've been had, thoroughly. Move on with your life.

I think I should step in and defend my neighbor a little bit. In reality he's just the polite type of fan, the rest of us are a bit crazy.

Edit: went through the list of posts, yeah I feel like Trump's attorney right now

I imagine he viewed it as a step up, regardless of the situation at the time, hence why he was so desperate to go. It isn't a dig at United in any way either, just how things are. United haven't bought from Madrid, because no-one in the first team ever wants to leave. Madrid have bought from United though, and almost always first teamers.
The thing is though that, bar Ronaldo, we wanted rid of them. Beckham, Heinze, Ruud.

By using over the top names pandering to United or United players.

How's this for not stating who you're supporting?

By that mentality and way its been going since Roman Abramovic and the retirement of SirAF, its our time to be knocked off the perch by Chelsea.

Roman is to Chelsea what Sir AF was to us.

Sour ? They should be grateful to us for selling them Ronaldo.

Feck Madrid. We should be to Madrid what PSG are to Barca. Bid on one of our players, and we'll start to bid record fees to unsettle your players. Start asking about Kroos, Ronaldo, Marcelo for record bids and leaking it to the press. I'd rather sell DDG to Barca than them.

On the other hand, we still got the better deal. Watch Lukaku score 30+ and Morata struggle to adapt to the league.

I've got a feeling that Morata will be a better buy for Chelsea than what Lukaku will be for us. Lukaku is very one footed as well unlike Morata who can shoot with both feet and is faster as well. We tried to outsmart Chelsea and Real and I feel we may have to eat our words. Morata's very quick on the break and would have linked well with Rashford. Anyway, done is done.... I can't see Lukaku dribbling with the ball from the halfway line on the counterattack which makes getting a winger all that more important. Martial will improve but he won't pull a Ronaldo next season. We should go for another winger instead. I know Lucas Moura hasn't been a world beater or anything but his numbers are pretty good. In 37 appearances, he scored 12 goals and had 5 assists. At the moment, PSG are stacked with wingers and they've also been linked with Neymar and Sanchez. I think he would become available. He's quick and tricky and he's got a good work rate. He could perhaps develop in to a more productive winger under Jose like Willian.

The example would be fine if we had bid for any of your players (this summer), but it was the other way around.
In this case we would be PSG and you Barça.
You do not like Perisic's price but you keep trading. You did not like the price of Morata and United left the talks.
I suppose there was a planning and Lukaku was the first choice, so I do not see why Madrid is guilty here.
About unsettle our players, it's fair between elite teams, but I do not think any of our starters would leave for more money.

Fee Reported by Di marzio is 80-85m euros. I would like to believe this from someone neutral rather than a chelsea fan in Matt Law

Fully agree with it still if you go reread the whole conversation. Like I said, I joined this forum when Zlatan joined us. If that makes me a Chelsea (fan???), great!

Well now we will be able to compare between Morata and Lukaku and see who fares better this season. Should be fun to watch.

United historically have never bought from Madrid , because we always have had better or equal quality players any way.
When did we ever have players of the quality of Zidane, Original Ronaldo, Kaka, Raul, Figo, Cannavaro, Michael Laudrup to name just a few!
We've had some top players but even current Madrid players like Modric, Bale, Benzema, Kroos are better than a lot of what we've had during the PL era.

We didn't buy from Madrid(certainly not their prime players) because Madrid is viewed as the pinnacle of European football.
It's just silly and biased to suggest we've always had equal or better quality players.

Not to mention the ridiculously unoriginal banter that both sets of fans would trade. At the end of the season, expect some over the top pundits analysing both players' stats as if going through a stack of hot dogs.

Regardless, whichever striker will have the better season, he would likely fire his team close to the top of the table.

Madrid has always been a pain in the butt for our club ironically, most United fans have a soft spot for RM ( mostly because of Ronaldo playing there).

Not sure why the guy is getting so much hate. He would be a united player if it wasn't for those Putas in Madrid.

He clearly wanted to join us but since we went for Lukaku instead he wasn't left with much choice, of course he's going to join Chelsea if given the chance of being lead striker.

I wish him luck, but none against us :D

€80m (£70m)

They have paid double his value IMO
That is the way transfers are going and if Jose is moaning now, then it will not be any easier next season either. We overpaid for Lukaku as well. Not as big, but still overpaid. Just hope we do not eventually pay for Everton's transfer activity by signing Barkley as well.
