The "United 2017-18" thread on Bluemoon reached 200 pages today.

To put that into context;

Chelsea - 21
Liverpool - 9
Spurs - 4

This very thread, which is really more about laughing at City than talking about them has 352 pages and has been going since 2010

Do they genuinely care more about us than they do their own team/football in general? I can't think of one thing we have done, bar the pre-season friendly and the Lukaku signing that would even warrant more than a comment or two
They've got 2682 replies to their thread, we are on 14084 on this one. Given our thread has been going for 7 years longer: 2682 x 7 = 18774 projected posts if it were to run the same length as ours.

Not hugely interesting tbh.

Stop ruining my fun with facts
*shrugs* Sorry man.

To help get the mood going again, having had to click onto the thread to see how many posts they had, I had a quick scroll through to see what they were saying. Quite interesting points raised in this one:

Good post.

They will struggle to score more goals than last season. They probably needed both Lukaku and Griezmann, even if they get Perišić, they will still lack goals.

They will play Matic, Herrera, Pogba for the majority of games with Lukaku plus 2 of Mata, Rashford, Martial, Mkhitaryan, Lingard.

Or Matic-Pogba and 4 attackers, Either way not much quality there. Looks like they think all their players will massively improve. Pogba is terrible in a 2 man midfield and just average in a 3.

Struggling to see how they will get top 4 this season.
I do wonder if they read their posts back and think 'what the f*** am I on about?'. Alas, I think it's unlikely.

They have immense inferiority complex. They think every player we have overrated. I never see any meaningful discussion in any of their thread. Even in a non united thread, they somehow bring us and do rags this rags that. I mean seriously, so much jealousy is not good for your health.

Well, except their United 17/18 thread has presumably not been running for more three months, at most. That seems to change the math pretty significantly.

True, that aspect slipped by me.

This has been going for 7.5 years. 14090/7.5 = 1879 posts per year, 157 posts per month and 5 posts a day (30 day month).
Their thread has been going for 6 weeks. 2687/6 = 448 posts per week, 64 posts per day.

Sorry @Lentwood, they really are obsessed.

Plus this is pre-season, I'd expect the thread to be busier during the season as each rival suffers embarrassing defeats ("into meltdown")

How are they coping with not being the biggest oligarch's plaything in the room anymore?

They usually have a new United thread every 2 months or so.

Our City 17/18 thread has 914 posts, theirs has 2,682. That's 3 times as many.
Consider the size of the fanbase and posters on the two forums, and it becomes even more alarming how obsessed the berties are.

He's right about everything except Pogba being terrible and average. We don't have nearly enough goals in us and are putting big emphasis on improving what we have.

And I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Itd be easy to go and spend another £100m on attacking talent. But looking to get more out of Mikhi, Martial, Lingard etc is a good challenge.

Do the City fans globally consider PSG as a similar club to them?
Or do they think that City is a modest club with values contrary to an unhealthy PSG?

LVG's notebook
BM and their response to the Neymar transfer and its repercussions:

Rest assured we well be punished along with PSG for this. Probably more as we actually don`t have the superstar in our team and a the Cvnt Gill will be at the heart of it.
Where do PSG earn the money to pay this sort of fee are French TV deals better than the premier leagues, their league crowds aren't up there with the best do they have a good set of sponsors.
They have "sponsorship" with Qatar Tourism Authority for €100m a year that boosts their commercial revenue. Dodgy as hell.
Neymar for £190 million or Pog-bambi and the Belgian Emile Heskey for £190 million , the pair......mmmm tough one !!!

Rational ones like myself would consider PSG a bigger club and on the pitch pretty much evenish teams with similar money and objectives. You're also a slightly more attractive club to players because well you're in Paris and City are in Manchester (we all know which one the Wags will pick.)
I think most rational ones would say we're very similar clubs and have to deal with the same shitty hate (no history, ruining football, don't play fair etc...) despite City being founded in 1880 and PSG being founded in 1904.

Any City fan throwing rubbish about you guys ruining football are stupid and hypocritical kind of like a Chelsea fan doing it to City or you guys. In reality we're both very lucky clubs to have the owners we both have. We've both seen our clubs grow hugely in the past few years and we both need to win a CL to be taken serious as a top club in Europe (which I think you are closer to than us.)

Thanks for your answer.

I also believe Chelsea (Russia), Monaco (Russia), City (UAE), PSG (Qatar), Milan (China), Inter (China)...belong to the same category even if their strategies could differ at a point of time. Chelsea fans have short memories because I do remember the crazy acquisitions in the early 2000s. Also, I do remember the former president of PSG refused to sell Ronaldinho to Chelsea because he thought it was money laundering...and he did want to ensure he will get the money

The difference between PSG and City is the level of competition at the domestic level. Strange that City is considered by some as a club without history.

PSG was founded in 1970 (merger of 2 clubs). The club used to be the most hated club because it was the club of the capital city! Since PSG was acquired by Qatar, the fanbase is increasing.
All the children will progressively become PSG fans.

Yeah I agree totally. PSG was a merger of 2 clubs in 1970? think I read somewhere the original club dated back to 1904. I guess there is two types of history. History like the Uniteds, Liverpools, Ajax etc.. and history for the losers. Even before you got your money you had some great players. Ronaldinho, George Weah, Ginola. City haven't had a squad like that since the 60's which most people don't remember.

Anyway. I think we're taking the thread off topic and theres plenty of place for legit discussion but I think its not allowed in here.

But even in city17/18 season I have seen some sensible discussion but when you look in their forum, there is no football discussion. All about rags this rags that. Really lame if you ask me.

Editing my own posts.
I had to fact-check that 'cos I couldn't believe it was real...But quite amazingly it is!

The obvious joke aside, I'm genuinely kinda fascinated by it. I mean, was their social media guy high? What on earth is that about?

There is a difference between 'ultras' and hooligans in France. Ultras are known for their fanatical support and use of flares, but they are usually not out for violence.

The atmosphere used to be more impressive 10-15 years ago before the 'Plan Leproux' (Robin Leproux, former PSG president) in 2010 to eradicate all fans groups at the club because:

- troubles generated by a tiny minority of hooligans.
- tensions between the PSG management (main shareholder was COLONY CAPITAL) and fans: we had this banner the whole season 2009/10 at home
Below, you can see the difference between BEFORE and AFTER the Leproux plan

The atmosphere is improving since 18 months: the club is now open to discussions with the leading fan group that wants to have formal rights so that it can organize the atmosphere within the stadium.

I went to the Women's CL Final in Cardiff at the start of June and even then the PSG support was drumming up (quite literally at times) a great atmosphere. The couple of hundred Lyon brought over were like churchmice.
