Not just me pal, plenty try reading the thread first before spouting off.
You can keep on, using your words, "spouting off'.

Our conversation apparently seems to lack mutual respect and civility. Let's end it here. Again, kudos to you for admitting you got it wrong on Matic.

Where's the DOF?
How about we all relax, get a little bit less precious about our respective opinions (that's all they are), and bask in what I think is one of the best debut performances in a United shirt at OT bar none. Although I had recognised his class at Chelsea, I was underwhelmed by our acquisition of Matic and was even nervy about the money we'd paid. One game doesn't make a season, but he single handedly made us look like contenders today - he made half the team better, and his distribution, retention, vision, leadership and tekkers today were outstanding. I have not been as excited about a new signing since Ruud. I am delighted, and imagine there are one or two angry emails fizzing around Stamford Bridge at the moment.

GIF of that mazy run?

What a performance. I knew he was great at breaking up play, but I wasn't expecting that.

What the feck were Chelsea thinking? Did he really create that much of a fuss Ala RVP? RVP gave arsenal no choice, didn't seem like Matic did that.

Obviously, very early on. But it is hard not to jizz yourself after that match.

We are on the same page then.
We are and tbh I apologize. I don't like to generalize and I don't like to be rude. I rate Matic, happy for his current form and really hope it stays consistent as long as possible. It's been one of my pet peeves in the caf having posters who are just too concerned on being right, like their opinions mattered to everyone and I admit that I can lose control about it sometimes.
I don't rate Perisic so I won't hope he is signed by Mourinho, if it happens, I'll root for him and sincerely hope to be proven totally wrong.

Yep, still here. Why? Do you have a portal to a parallel universe where we can examine how that other signing would have looked?

Anyway, very pleased that Matic has started well. Let's hope he continues to perform like he did today. Ultimately, I'd be happy to be proven wrong now that he's our player.
No but I can tell you how he's played the last 3 years :)

Funny, the experts on here were telling us on a daily basis that he is in decline.

If he continues like this he will be the signing of the season.

I think we can all now understand why Mou went for Matic and not Fabinho.

Basically a player that does what Fellaini is supposedly doing when he is on the pitch (going by his performance thread), plus he can pass, dribble and reads the play well.
Fantastic

I think it would be highly disingenuous to pretend his performance levels hadn't dropped since Chelsea's title win under Mourinho. But today, he was an absolute colossas and surely it's the best game he's played in a long time. Everything he done was brilliant and he covered what, something like 11k or so. Fantastic stuff all around.

It was hardly that irrational that people thought he was on the decline. Look at players like Rooney and Torres that steeply declined at a relatively young age. However, all of that now seems unfounded which is fantastic. He obviously loves playing under Mourinho even though Mourinho seemed to be harsh on him towards the end of his Chelsea spell.

I don't think he did apart from that season they were all terrible.
Well being subbed on and off again has got to be some sort of nadir for any footballer.
I thought that he flopped like the rest of the team in the season Mou was sacked and Conte used him in a different role, although he played 30(5) games for them in the league in the title winning campaign (he can't have been that bad).

Says the fella cursing and name calling everyone in a thread because he looked silly. I'm just pointing out the obvious hypocrisy!

FWIW I think every mug on this forum has been wrong many more times than they've been right, most just don't get so upset about being called out on it.

Deal with it bruh.

Exactly, everyone talks a bit of shite in a while. It's how you take it. I prefer to log of and have a cup of tea and pretend it never happened, for instance.

Anyway, people support their own agenda on this forum more than their own fecking team. Stupid.

Matic does exactly what his managers tell him to do.

Last season Conte limited to zonally mark a part of the pitch I believe. Think Conte was tactically overbearing on Matic, by micromanaging him, maybe? As Kante was allowed a role where he was running wild - chasing everything in sight like
a mad fecking Jack Russell.

Think Mourinho has a bit more trust in him. And he's right as Matic has very good decision making. He knows when to keep it simple etc and when to push forward etc. We seen that today, Souness noticed it too - soon as he passed the ball on, in certain situations he went straight back into his position but at other times you seen him with more play freedom.

Class today. Really good buy, reads the game brilliantly, knows exactly what to do and he's also a good dribbler/passer. Exciting times ahead with this guy in midfield.

Wtf, Matic is a PL champion and proved it before in the PL that he was a great player. Where this Perisic analogy is coming from, I have no fecking idea
The 2 players and their situations have nothing in common. Talk about comparing random things.
Its utter nonsense from an Inter fanboy.

Because as it turns out they are people like me who had no problem with signing Matic but arent exactly over the moon about Perisic.

He looks a class above many of our players when he's on the pitch. It just shows you the quality of that Chelsea team. Matic looks a quiet player in that team. He definitely stands out in our team.

Been so weird watching United this last couple of decades, in the post-Keane era. Central midfield has been this strange blind-spot, under every manager. Including Fergie. Even when we sign someone who does the business (i.e. Carrick) he splits opinions. And don't get me started on the long list of also-rans. Have we finally signed someone who is the real deal? A legitimate, all-round top class CM? Surely not?!?
