Think Ozil gets scapegoated allot. Even when the goals come from the other side he gets called out.
I agree. He's an elite, luxury player who only functions at the highest level when his teammates make themselves somewhat useful -- when the rest of the side is dire, there isn't much he can do, so fans throw a fit. The real issue in that midfield is that Xhaka is a giveaway machine and Ramsey thinks he's a center forward, regardless of where Wenger plays him.

I just wonder..
We're supposedly in for Ox, and he prefers us. We're also in for Lemar whom they wanted all summer. Let's suppose it happens.
Then it seems like we'd:
- claimed their 4th spot and kicked them out of CL
- pwned them 3 times, with the latest being up the bum
- got one of their best performers
- got one of their priority transfer targets

I mean, it's highly unlikely, but just imagine the AFTV...

Arsenal must do the unthinkable: sack (or force his resignation) Arsene Wenger. It may be too late for this season, but the fans deserve much better than what they're getting now. And have gotten for the last 5 years...and for those who dismiss the "stadium debt" argument, the last 10 years.

It's almost as if Wenger wants to trim down the squad to bare minimum. I would get that he's clearing some deadwood but to just cull the team without any reasonable replacements is bad management IMO.

After supporting Arsenal through childhood and then having to deal with the banter years of Wenger. I'm done supporting Arsenal. This will never get better and it's evident. The club is rotten to the core and only care about profit and not silverware. I'll still have love for the club but I can't follow them anymore. I cant keep having my heart broken by this club and I can't watch on as the club gets shafted by numerous people out to make a quick buck.

I'll be called fickle or a glory hunter but I'm now going to start supporting City. If the club can treat us fans like crap then why should I have to stay in the abusive relationship and put up with the same thing over and over again while being neglected. To all the other Arsenal fans who have been supporting the club since childhood. Good luck to you and I hope your health doesn't suffer as a result. I don't want to stop watching football all together but I'll still follow the results of Arsenal.

I feel sorry for you that you will never truly experience the joys of being a football fan. You can't if you just flip-flop from whichever team is winning at the moment to the next.
Do you know why 1998 and Wenger's first double was celebrated and remembered so fondly by older Gooners even more so than Invincibles in some ways? Because of 1994/95 when we finished 12th. Because things looked bleak for a minute there with GG's embezzlement.

If you never experience the lows of being a fan along with the club, never experience the 12th places and failed seasons, you will never know the joy when the moments of magic arrive. Its just all hollow superficial for you at that point. There are older United fans that remembered the early 80s when they weren't dominant and younger Dortmund fans that remember BVB's struggles between their CL victory and the Klopp revival.

If all those fans abandoned their clubs in tough times they never would have experienced the joy of when things turned around. If you can just waffle from winning team to winning team you aren't a club supporter nor a fan of the game. You are just a customer.

Whatever you think of Wenger, he has more managerial skills in his little finger than all those so called football pundits. Shearer, the great Newcastle coach, Jenas/Wright who couldn't coach a cold, & as for Sutton, truly the most obnoxious & stupid individual on football.

sack wenger right now, make steve bould the fall guy for the season, finish 10-15th and use the full season and off season to scout and sign a new manager.

blow it up. Don't follow the MUFC mistakes, we dabbled with Moyes and LVG, and it backfired. Clean slate.

People laughed at Man United's demise when we took steps to change our managers. We tried Moyes, LVG and finally landed with Mourinho. They can laugh at our failure with Moyes and the boring soccer with LVG, but at least we are willing to try and change till we get it right. Arsenal is too scared and too resistant to changes. Its almost like an episode out of Monty Python.

The club is in a truly precarious position now. With £100m of talent (£150m?) due to leave on a free next summer in a market where we can hardly afford 'young talent' let alone proven quality, I fail to see a situation where the club adequately replaces Sanchez, Ozil and Ox.

And that's to describe a scenario where we stand still. Improving from our current position on the field is critical, as Sunday proved, but I see no scenario where we have an improved starting eleven in twelve months time. Desperate times ahead...

That said, the team isn't as completely awful as it looked on Sunday. Finishing 4th and either the FA Cup or Europa League is likely the height of our ambitions for this season, but that remains an achievable target.

Jenas is a very good pundit tbf. I don't know why he's thrown into this.

The odd thing about Arsenal is the speed at which they go from fine to collapse and back again. They seem to either be in total crisis or they're cruising along playing decent football & scoring goals. Wouldn't surprise me if they score a hatful against Bournmouth & Köln, only to get smacked hard at Chelsea, then go on and win the rest of their September games comfortably.

John Cross (Mirror), Jackson (Guardian) are claiming Man City have approached to swapp Sterling and cash for sanchez. James Olley claiming no formal bid but is expecting one. Now Sanchez has asked for leave from the national squad.

IT'S ALL KICKING OFF FAM.

Bizarre that they're letting Mustafi leave.

Surely something has to have happened behind the scenes for him to be leaving. Maybe he's too vocal for Wenger's liking...

Arsenal fan and an ITK if you will, he is followed by Mirror football, john cross, Mike keegan and a couple of sky reporters.

Looks like arsenal will be selling the players. Wonder who they will be able to get as replacements in such a short period of time. I would argue they dont need a forward even if they sell sanchez as they have lacazette and giroud. They will need a defender or two and if he comes in for smalling i would sell him if they let us have sanchez. Other player who might go are maybe Ozil? Mustafi, bellarin?

They are due a clean up weather its a manager clean up or a player clean up, they need one. Maybe Arsenal can sell the bad elements and build from scratch.

The last time Wenger left it this late to replace players, he ended up signing Arteta, Benayoun, Andre Santos, Mertesacker and Park Chu-young.

It's never a good idea to trolley-dash.

They're 100% right to take this approach. They'll have no problem finding buyers for the better players and will coup a good fee for each too. The only problem is, they'll make panic buys and they will cost them a fortune due to desperate and the deadline.

Which is worse, overpaying for average players or keeping unhappy stars? Rock and a hard place.

I wouldn't let him have Smalling especially if he sells Sanchez to City. Why solve a problem for him? Unless he is willing to sell Sanchez to us. I wouldn't sell them a virus.

There's plenty of players out there who can improve them but they never seem interested. Why don't they go for someone like Krychowiak or N'Zonzi? Someone who can sit deep and defend, Xhaka was supposed to be that man and he looked class in Germany but he's been underwhelming so far. They could also do with a no nonsense CB, Kos is a very good CB but he's not someone who will constantly stick his head in the danger area and is prone to mistakes.

Too many of their players have stagnated on their 'potential' but still constantly get minutes. Ox, Walcott, Welbeck, Ramsey, Bellerin, Gibbs, Coquelin are all decent players who have had spells where they looked top players but ultimately they are not good enough to be starting every game, you can have 1/2 potentially to do a job but having 4/5/6 starting every week is not going to work if they want to challenge for the title.

Remember when you'd get people genuinely arguing that Wenger was a better manager than Fergie?

Wasn't even that long ago that you'd still see those sort of debates.

Not anymore though.

If it comes to booting out Sanchez, it wont matter if its us or city to arsenal. The thing is finding replacements. Would wenger want smalling ?yes? so maybe offer him an initiative to sell to us. Lindelof/blind/rojo/Tuanzebe are enough of a cover and we should buy one in winter window if we need to.
City are doing the same with sterling plus cash deal. At this time of the window that is the best thing we can do.

Yeah better to sell half arsed players and sign players who really appreciate playing for a big club. Though Ox was that sort of player but he couldn't wait to jump the ship.

It's only their fault for having waited this long to sign new players and sell those who are not 100% committed.

My 9 year old stepson has more staying power than you. Though I had to turn off the game on Sunday to spare him. He's too young to watch that sort of thing.

It doesn't matter which players they sell or buy. The rot starts from the manager. You need to get rid of the root to solve the problem.

Another issue is that they been signing too many British players.

I'm surprised with this golden generation from France that Wenger hasn't signed one of the wonder kids. I'm sure a decade ago he would have scooped up players like Lemar, Mbappe and Dembele before we even heard of them and would have questioned who are they.

Just shows how badly he has lost his touch in the transfer market too. He's gone from being the best to one of the worst.

Agreed, he used to be among the best to snipe young talent and transform them into top class players. It's been a while since they had a Fabregas or RvP there and it does not seem to get any better. Hes always been bad at signing good defenders, but now hes gone from bad to catastrophic

I do fear it. Second-rate players.
