This just illustrates that the bloke went on a big drinking session and still had alcohol in his system while driving, hence he should not have been operating a motor vehicle - a few social drinks wouldn't put him over the limit after such a long time.
There are loads of stories like that where someone has 1 or 2 glasses the night before with their tea and the next morning be going to work get pulled over for random tests because when the law changed the police went on one here and were stopping and testing everyone randomly.
Now I won't bother driving the next day at all as it's just not worth losing my licence after I have a few.
There were also complaints because people would buy breathalyser tests and they were showing false readings and people were still getting done.

If he's is wildly over the limit then he needs charged. The point was not a single person actually knows the facts yet you had people crucifying him. He's also not the first footballer to be done in recent years but he's the biggest name therefore trash papers print it as a major headline and people get the pitchforks out.

Stupid fecker who should know better.

If they throw the book at him, make it war and peace, might knock some sense into him.

No excuses for this kind of shite.

Off topic, but in countries where weed is legal, is it legal to smoke and drive? I actually think it's even safer than driving sober cause I feel like I'm going at 100 when I'm actually going at 20.

On topic, drinking and driving alone is a bad thing. But for a professional footballer to do that is disgusting.
I think the laws have changed so it is illegal now.

I don't drive if I have a smoke, but I tend to be better and more focused when I am high like I'm better at Golf,Football,Darts,Maths(playing Dominoes) and often computer games.

Obviously different strains will effect people differently tho.

Yup. It makes me very focused on the task at hand. Though I do feel lazy after a couple of hours.

Theres a lot of rumours about Rooney being dropped by both Van gaal and Mourinho for turning up to training still drunk.

Definitely something in this.
With the way he played in the Watford game we lost 3-1 he better have been pissed the night before.

Piss in a cup and that'll tell you if weed has been smoked, don't need blood.
Weed can stay in your system for up to 2-3 weeks or longer. Depends on your body so even if you're not stoned at the time and they test you, you would piss positive. So not a good test. I'm not sure how they prove it at the time

I tend to get it the next day like a laziness hangover. It is amazing the different effects strains have on you. I pretty much medicate myself with it.

I have trouble sleeping so I will have an Indica. Can only really get Northern lights up here but on occasion I get Granddaddy purple and I sleep like a baby. If I have a busy day I'll go for some sort of Satvia Pineapple jack. It's awesome totally uplifts you and gets you focused with loads of energy. None of that couch lock.

Problem is in the UK you're putting faith in a stranger to provide you with quality stuff and they tend to try and bread here with just massive amounts of THC. If they legalised it it would be so much better with proper despencaries and regulations.

You lose about 1 unit of alcohol an hour so if you only had 1 or 2 glasses then you would have slept long to still be drunk the next morning.

He can't be earning that much at Everton if he can't even afford an uber......
This is what I don't understand with these players. They could easily afford a cab across the country, but they drink and drive instead.

My wife's mother and her niece's best friend(14yr old) are dead from the same accident when a drunk driver hit them head on when he was being chased by his girlfriend. Police estimate the guy was doing 80+mph when he hit them. How my father-in-law and wife's niece lived is mind boggling. The driver also died. So much for justice.

Anyone who drinks, uses drugs, mobile phones, or otherwise impairs their ability to control a rolling death machine that is a car deserves to lose their fecking license.

It must really suck to not like your clubs top scorer

Anyway, I hope Wazza isn't developing a serious problem. Lots of people here commenting from their high horse. Yeah you're a twat if you drink and drive but some people have problems/issues that do this kind of stuff. It would help others if we show more urgency towards helping to fix the problem rather than just calling drunk drivers "twats"

So they are now reporting he was driving a woman home in the Beetle. He's going to have some explaining to do when his wife gets back...

True.
The problem is many think it is ok. A little drink wont hurt or I can handle it. Same with checking mobiles. You could have been able to handle both a 1000 times and and accident may happen the 1001th time. So you never know.

Sensible post. Bit of a rarity round here, sadly.

Sorry my bad, it's in your spit for several hours after smoking a joint. So roadside saliva test, would be all the evidence needed. As it doesn't pick up residue in the body from previous days.

Its like it's being released piecemeal and getting steadily worse.

Give it a few more hours and we'll find out he was doing 100mph, selling drugs, had an escaped prisoner in the back and an "I love Trump" badge on.

I would like to believe a large number of people on here would be sympathetic to Wayne / people who do have an alcohol problem - and if he has that then this might be the best wake-up call possible given no one was hurt as a result.

But there's no excuse for driving after a few drinks ever and they are twats for putting other people's lives at risk - specially if by the sounds of it he wasn't completely off his head and therefor fully aware he had a few drinks but thought it was ok to drive as it's only a few miles...that does make him a twat, a twat with a big problem - but he's still a United legend and I've no personal issues with him as a result of what he's done

So having no idea of how fast you're travelling makes you safer than the average sober person? How would this make travelling on a motorway safe? I'd guess you're a bit of a hazard when you drive stoned, yet think you're all good, just like the drunk drivers do.

Mid-November last year while on England duty and at the end of April this year just before we played City.

Unlikely. He's cheated on her with hookers and grannies and she's still there.

She ain't hopping off that gravy train until he retires and then divorce, 50% of everything.

Because I'm in control. Unlike when I'm drunk and I know I can't drive.

First off, its doesn't suck at all. I don't like him. Not sure what's so hilarious about that.

Secondly, if he does have a problem, then hopefully he does get help. I've had family members die from alcohol problems. My sympathy completely dissipates, however, when he decides to sit behind a wheel of a car when pissed drunk.

So, yeah, he is indeed a twat.
