He was generally decent, but poor for the goal. Having said that all our defence wasn't exactly great today so I won't single him out other than that 1 moment for their 2nd goal.
He was dogshite

He wasnt that bad except the comical error on that corner.

Bailly was all over the place.

Just after I said he could be a future captain, he drops this performance. Jinxed him.

Him and Bailly both had a bad day, I am not sure if the international break interrupted their rhythm. But whatever the reason, he was totally at fault for the second goal.

I just don't trust him. He is just liability in harder games. He is not a bad player but should never be our first choice.
And most important thing what i can't overlook- his defending in set pieces is just awful. Not just this game, always been

My wit's end
He has a terrible habit of falling down and looking for a foul on corners. Needs to cut that out. It's his most glaring weakness.

How so? If you don't mind me asking.
He was bullied off the ball too many times for my liking especially in the second half. His reading of the game was awful. He's weak as feck in the air against strong opposition. That goal reminded me of the one Giroud scored against us at OT in the final minutes and we ended up drawing 1-1. Jones again was on his ass. Smalling should've been introduced in his place after that goal

Fair enough, I thought he was decent but the defending for the goal was definitely criminal.

You must've missed the two times he got robbed off the ball trying to play out the back. The Shaqiri one in particular was embarrassing

As much as we may hate Terry but Jones is no Terry. After de gea made a wonderful save, instead of focussing on defending the corner , his focus was elsewhere. These kind of mistakes cannot be tolerated and should not be happening.

Well Jones was there today, passing and position was well off..
Yes Jones was poor today and should have done better (read my above comment ) but to say he would not have started ahead of klavan is a joke considering Jones is miles better than klavan or even matip on his best days. But yes he was poor today no doubt about that

Whatever John's do he won't be able to win united fans . The lad had an off day but Baily and Darmian didn't help . Jose has already told " John's has all the qualities he like in a defender " so if he stays fit he will be starting. It should have been John's and Smalling today though.

He will be scrutinized to hell for every single mistakes. Fans don't get along when players start to prove then wrong . Can't believe people saying John's was shit and Baily was okay...Don't they even watch the match !!

Not his best game today. Was at fault for the two goals, but sometimes you have bad games.

Needs to forget today and go again next week.

'His passing was off today...' sure a BT stat had him at 98% completion....

He made one mistake for the goal, but beyond that was very decent considering he was babysitting that nutjob next to him.

It's hilarious how negatively hyperbolic people are regarding him, probably the same people who see no wrong in Bailly and Pogba despite them often underwhelming but seducing the stupid with their flair.

Decent game today, but now he's not good enough based on one slip at a corner.

Luckily for Jones, the managers of both England and United rate him....

Lack of aerial presence on their second goal and him and Bailly seemed to feed each other's rashness today.

Thank God ..Someone with some sense.

There are people still keep on saying he is at fault for both the goals now . Guess even if he doesn't start and we concede people will blame him

How was Jones at fault for the first goal? Baily didn't track the runner hard enough and Darmian left his flank exposed.

The way people were saying it was Jones fault for the first goal I actually had to rewatch the highlight to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me and mistaking Jones for Darmian

Poor guy wasn't great today, but he really wasn't much worse than Darmian or Bailly.

Would love to know how did you reach that conclusion " fault for both goals " ?
Ferdinand and Owen in the half time analysis partially blamed Jones for not marking the space at the near post to prevent the cross from reaching Choupo-Moting. Jones was effectively in no mans land.

You need to explain this to me better. Choupo Moting was located on the left wing where Darmain was supposed to be. How was Jones supposed to stop the cross from coming in? Was it not Darmian who was in no mans land

At fault for the 2nd.

Some of the comments in here are shocking though. Get a fecking grip. Darmian was abysmal and Bailly was on par with Jones.

Should be dropped for Smalling. No way can you feck your team over like he did in that massive mistake. I rate him, but that really was abysmal.
