He was refusing to renew and being stubborn and they tool matters into their own hands.

People also forget the luck that fell their way that year. They met a Barcelona side that even Real Madrid reserves without Cristiano Ronaldo were thrashing, a team that wasn't coached and a team with an injured Messi. In the final they got lucky thay Dante was in the pitch and should have gotten a straight red card.

Also the team had great motivation from the previous years failure and so all these things came together in a perfect storm. They had Shaqiri who believed he was fighting for a spot, Gustavo and Dante and Ribery and Robben fully fit most of the season.

Guardiola rarely had Robben and Ribery fit together at the same time, the only game I would say he was tactically out fought was the 4-0 loss at the Allianz Arena and that is specifically because he let the players do what they wanted.

The level of play Pep Guardiola achieved was higher than Juup Heynckes

All that after a game against a side they can't compete with financially? That's a bit dumb sorry
Comments reducing that sacking to the PSG loss are dumb, sorry. It's a fact that our level of football has decreased constantly since Carlo took over.

And that's Ancelotti's fault? Look at your squad ffs. Your star players are getting old and you can't compete on the market for the very best players anymore. I don't know it just feels strange. 3 points off the top in the BL and he gets the sack.

Looking at the odds, Benitez at 25-1 might not be a bad flutter - none of the other names at shorter odds immediately jump out and, although he's probably not Bayern standard, he's certainly too good for Newcastle and would probably be willing to make the jump. Still, none of the managers linked are anywhere near Ancelotti's level.

He's always been a bit overrated as a manager for me. He won Champions Leagues but his record in the league wasn't much to shout about.

The squad hasn't changed nearly so much to justify the drop in quality that we're seeing.

Must be more in it than results.
Of course it's more than the results. We haven't played well all season (and pre-season) for starters. And then there are the constant rumors of discontent among the players with Carlo's coaching, or lack thereof.

Any chance of LVG getting a second stint here?
At the time, club chairman Uli Hoeness said that the decision had been a "long time coming" and that there was "no alternative" but to sack the first Dutch manager to win the Bundesliga.

"Football should be enjoyable, but there has been nothing enjoyable about football at FC Bayern for a while now," said Honess.

"And to say that he had the players behind him was a myth...

"Problems were created which were totally unnecessary and which have ripped the club to pieces.

"Louis Van Gaal should consider what he has done."

This isn't the first time that Bayern has started "slowly".

Without Neuer they are so much worse. That Cavani goal was straight at the keeper and the goalkeeping for Alves' goal was poor. Timid run and he turned his head away.

Well I'll take your word for it. Not seen much of Bayern this year but last year I thought you did mostly alright.
We got by, but looked uninspired and uncreative even against shit teams. For example drawing against Wolfsburg after a 2-0 lead? The feckers took the first points from the Allianz Arena since 2009 or so, and they are as shit as always.

They make a huge show of refusing to pay the market rate for players, then sack their manager when they lose to PSG. Lolz
My first thought aswell. Haven't really imporved their squad, while their best attackers have aged.
Then sign James, who plays in same'ish position as Müller, and isn't an upgrade at all.

Atleast Ancelotti can really enjoy Oktoberfest, without having to think football!

Very surprising decision so early in the season.

While true I'm pretty sure most Bayern fans would agree that the level of play has deteriorated significantly since Carlo took over. It's not just about this season or results. I've watched most games and IMO it's been a massive drop.

Nice to see another club engulfed in drama. A bit daft this early in to the season in fairness.

If yesterday is anything to go by, then it's no surprise. It's Unfortunate for Ancelotti and I would still say he's a top manager but for whatever reason it hasn't worked out for him at Bayern.

Yeah, season is still young but I think hiring Tuchel would be a mistake. If they can manage to get Nagelsmann now then they should but if they can't then they should wait in my opinion.
Nagelsmann right now would be a huge gamble. There are rumors that players didn't get on with Carlo and I doubt that they would get along with a young manager like him.

Feels far too early for Nagelsmann to be taking on this kind of challenge. He's coached what? 60 senior matches?

We certainly haven't seen any top managing from him in over a year.

He dug his own grave when he didn't join United.
Yep. Although, I'm glad he didn't. Jose was always the best man for the job ever since SAF stepped down and I'm still over the moon that he's here and doing predictably very well

I agree.

I've always felt he's a very good 'mediator'. He's worked at big clubs with big egos and was able to command the respect of his dressing room. As a personality he's a like-able if unassuming guy.

However as a coach and the way his teams play on a week by week basis I don't think his way is made for long term success. He's never really had to rebuild a squad but then again most of his clubs tend to have directors who interfere.

Could have had a better start to their Bundesliga season and they were dismantled really by PSG, but realistically are they going to improve in the short-term under Sagnol as interim coach? Who are they going to be able to get now as a permanent appointment? There are no top managers without jobs and none are going to resign now 2 months in to the season IMO.

Sure sounds like LVG
