Its part of a crackpot theory by the 'experts' on this forum that players can be 'coached' to be top players. There is a talent requirement that is developed at a young age, good coaching cannot turn players like Lingard and Fellaini into Pogbas.
It’s not even anything to do with talent, moreso with style. Pogba is our most talented player but that wasn’t my point, you’re right but the bigger issue is we don’t have a single player who can play that ‘playmaker’ role from deep. None of our other midfielders can carry the ball forward, evade the press, offer a goal threat (opening up space for other players) etc.

His replacements are essentially players who are good at breaking up play. We don’t have another player like him which is why we turned to shite.

Pogba is a once in a generation talent. He has everything in his locker from a young age. He isnt defensively perfect but neither were midfielders like Keane and Viera. You can't replace him.

But you are right, because a few seasons ago a Matic-Fabregas midfield won the league. We are lacking a creative midfielder to be back-up to Pogba.

If we can find someone who can replace what Herrera gives us AND be a backup for Pogba, that would probably be perfect.

Yep - I'm not expecting us to sign a player with similar talent, that's impossible. What we need is someone who can come in and do a similar role though. If KDB gets injured City will still have both Silva's and Gundogan who can fill that role, if Pogba gets injured we have to play two players who are essentially the same in Matic and Herrera.

Don't get me wrong, Herrera and Matic are very good players in their own right, but they're good alongside a player similar to Pogba's style, not instead of him.

Best thing about him is his control. When he has the ball under his feet it's almost impossible to take the ball from him. He uses his physicality and techniques to always escape with the ball under tight pressure it's unreal.

He's the reason we can keep possession of the ball that easily.

I've seen this mentioned a couple of times today, so what is it referring to?
It was the thread created on him a while back about Pogba being the baby elephant in the room when describing our struggles last season. People mentioning it are making a mockery of a baffling statement in hindsight.

Oh right, thanks. That is ridiculous.

very very encouraging, creative and influential for a post injury performance, albeit again an average Newcastle. Looked like he was before the injury. Very glad he scored too.

He has 2 weeks to get through the gears and be in peak fitness for the City/Arsenal games. Thats when we need him to show his class.
Agree. He was better than I thought for so long out and we will also have tougher challenges, so hopefully he has time to get into gear

He’s world class. Debate is over on that. Our most important player by far.
Beating Newcastle at home isn't the world stage or of much significance in the football arena to anyone. I even believe that De Bruyne still needs to prove he is world class. It isn't these little games that show you a player is world class unless he can also do it in bigger occasion, in addition to this

He slotted straight back in, it was like he'd never been away. Easily the best player on the pitch.

City, Bayern, Barcelona, PSG, Juventus and Real. Napoli probably have a half decent claim too.
On this years form, it would be unfair to say Juve, Real and Bayern are better than us. Napoli are a great team but they are not better than us either.

Doesn't play for our neighbors though, so this won't be mentioned anywhere.

It's unreal how much we missed his creativity, need to go on a big run now with everyone back fit.
To be fair, De Bruyne scored yet another banger today on his left peg ;). starting to think Kevin is the best shooting midfielder in the league. He is just consistent with it.

Real already beat us and I'd fancy them to do so again. Roma would probably beat us. Maybe even Chelsea and Spurs. Its tight in the EPL between the rest.

Well if you're going on form from the last 2 months then Napoli are better than us, without question.

And it doesn't matter, the knockouts start in February. Any of those 6 would knock us out without much fuss over two legs, whether Real have had a slow start or not.

I mean, we beat Spurs without Pogba already.

We will probably meet one of these teams anyway, so we shall see!

Oh look, our best player came back and our attack and midfield instantaneously became more synchronised. Who’d have thought?

I saw his man of the match clip and was also really impressed by his humility. So mature and professional on his assessment. I was also so happy when as he was walking off down the tunnel after his sub, he wanted to so much celebrate his mates’ goal. He brings what we’ve missed only many levels.

No messing about settling back in. Looked hungry. The goal will surely be a nice comeback boost too.

What is football without pogbance. He literally jinks and toying them with ease, tricks here, juggle there, sexy turns everywhere. Missed him. Welcome back Pogba.

His dancing moves are his way of maintaining his nimble agility, keep dancing Pogba!

Our best outfield player. What shits me though is rival fans saying "United are so reliant on Pogba" while he was injured while also saying "pogba is fecking shit mate". Even when we beat the shite whites it was all about Kane being out but no one was talking about Pogba still being injured....

89m seems a bargain now

Why do you give importance to what they say ? feck them, no matter what, there's always an angle to criticize.

The man's got everything - could go down as United's greatest ever midfielder.

How the feck has he got a 6.6 rating this season? Fellaini has 6.9 on here FFS.

Great to have him back. A midfield two of Pogba and Matic is still too easy to play through so I don't know how José's going to sort that but, all in all, great showing.

It also helped not having Mkhi lose the ball every few minutes, and having both Martial and Rashford together.

We'll go with a three man midfield in big games by starting Fellaini. Pogba-Matic is sufficient against smaller teams, I think there was some rustiness coming off the break which affected their performance in the first 25 minutes.

What worries me is our lack of quality outside our best 11. Obviously we can't get a backup who is on the same level as Pogba, but we should have some creativity in midfield without him.
