United Have Confiscated My Season Tickets

There's T's and C's at pretty much every club regarding season tickets and passing them on - they'll state that a season ticket is not transferable but all clubs tend to adopt a commonsense policy where if you can't get to a game, they'll turn a blind eye if you pass it on to a friend or family member or sell it at FV to another fan. It's not normal practice to go after fans who do that and what they should be doing is clamping down on blatant touting. I'm not a United fan but from what I can gather in this instance and going off all the people that have vouched for him on here, Sultan is anything but a tout and is merely offering to help other fans out with tickets. And by doing that, it means a seat gets filled and the person filling it will be adding to the atmosphere in some small way plus they may be putting money in United's coffers by way of buying refreshments. Surely United (or any club for that matter) would prefer this to a non-attending season ticket holder not bothering to take the time to offer it for use and therefore leaving the seat empty.

I can only go off what I've read on here and with that in mind I think this is incredibly harsh on him.
I understand that but all it would take is for him to have charged anything for the ticket for 1 or more people he let go to the game and them get a spot check on their seat carried out. Depending what they write in the form depends on what happens.

At United, the T&Cs were actually changed recently to say that ST holders are officially allowed to pass on tickets to 'friends and family' but its a bit of a grey area about whether you can charge anything for that ticket - really they should say its fine to pass on at FV but obviously touting at a profit should be forbidden

I've never seen these forms being handed out to anyone. Does it really happen? Can they even make you fill it in? I'd tell them bollocks if it was me.

Touch wood it hasn't happened to me or anyone I have let go but I have heard stories from as early as 10 years ago of them in existence but the first time I witnessed them in the flesh was Spurs at home this year and I got a good look at the form to see what questions they were asking.

Our families seats have been checked a number of times and they have been used by others, either off here or real life friends. However, I have never charged more than FV. I try to prioritize giving tickets to those coming from abroad. To be fair, I have broken the clubs terms and conditions on that basis.

I also have principles. If the club has decided they do not want me to return, I will follow the team on TV. If anything, I personally think the terms and conditions should change to allow tickets to be used by fellow United fans. I wouldn't waste any time asking the club to change their decision. I have provided every bit of evidence and explanation.

Stronger and better principles on all facets of life than most people I know.

The club is totally in the wrong here, no matter what any terms and conditions state. I have plenty of contacts in UK media who we can involve at any next stage - I think they'd love to report on an unfair story like this.

I'm so sorry to see this has happened to you and your family @Sultan

I feel that there just ought to be something we should do. Amongst many very decent supporters of this club and although this is not the official forum it certainly is the biggest and undoubtedly the best, you and others could not represent Manchester United any better. When you see a very decent person treated unfairly it very definitely paints a poorer picture of the club and its officials. Let us know if you need any support in any way.

The club would be better off spending its time looking for ways to make it possible to transfer tickets safely for individual games - making it possible for more fans to get to an occasional game. Then they could add all the security conditions etc they like, including membership and full name etc.

It's depressing to see empty (season ticket holder) seats at matches, especially when you know that some people only have one match they can get to in a year, or perhaps even in a lifetime. Yet, missed games are inevitable, we can't all get to every match - scaring people into not lending out their card, just makes it even more wasteful.

Its a shocking situation to be in but the state of some of these posts!
Direct line to Woodward, go to the papers..
The absolute best scenario is somebody here knows an employee at the ticket office who can put in a word and hopefully that happens.
Something along those lines is possible.

Wow. 40 years is a long time - they should have atleast looked into your case to be absolutely sure. I do hope somebody connected passes this on to the relevant authorities.

I did ask.

However, I got an email reply they cannot give specific details.
If you have some legal representation maybe then you could get specifics. I feel for you pal, in my eyes you are one of the luckiest fans in the world to be able to afford and go see United every week. To have that ripped away just because you helped fans from far away go see a fecking football match is cruelty. Don't mind me asking, was there profit made on the transfere of these tickets?

First 2 times that I went to OT, I was robbed to get the tickets. Tbh I could understand it in a way, as I thought it's easy money for the people, many would do it, or be tempted to do it.

Then you read about things like this. Not a penny in the pocket, just helping and welcoming other United fans. They can point to their rule book all they want, it still doesn't change the fact that it's absolutely wrong. Very sorry for you, must be sickening altogether.

That’s awful Sults. The extent you go to just to help fans make a game.

Shit of the club to not even consider some people out here are actually kind folk.

How would they know based on his username on a discussion forum? @Sultan have you ever posted your personal email on here (one connected to your Season ticket account)?
I said they probably looked into it. Not sure how sly they get with their investigation. Would they set up a hoax forum name for example, and go through a meet up to do this?

Seems madness, when there are actual touts obviously outside grounds.
Much easier to do deals with them, look at the ticket names used and ban those names.

Some touts get their tickets from club officials "allegedly".

Agreed, really horrible. I would have never been able to fulfill a life long dream without your help.

A never-nude? I thought he just liked cut-offs.
Really sorry to hear this Sultan, you've never been anything other than generous to genuine United fans with your season tickets. When I was heading back from Singapore one Christmas you sorted me out with 3 tickets for my wife, dad and myself and not only did you refuse to accept anything for the tickets you handed my wife a box of chocolates when we met up again after the match to return the tickets to you. Like you I had hoped we could have sat together during the match to finally chat in person after so many years as e-mates but at the last minute you'd had a request from another Caf poster and had sorted him out with 2 tickets alongside us as he was also visiting from Singapore.

Sorry United but you're picking on the wrong guy here and I'd be proud to stand up in his defence if you're listening to the accounts of those who have benefited from his generosity over the years.
What an absolute class act. If the club have seen fit to snoop around Sultan for long enough to impose this ban, then I'd fecking hope they'd take the time to read this thread and, belatedly, do the right thing by him and return his tickets.

@Sultan I requested our communications office send a strongly worded email to the club after you provided the ticket numbers. Assuming they got it done today we should get a response next week, though I can't promise it will be positive given our current somewhat strained relationship.

Your feelings regarding not wanting to go back are understandable, but should you want to attend a specific match please do feel free to fire me a PM*.

Even if there was a massive Twitter campaign to get the lad his season tickets back.. and United caved in to the backlash.. would any of you really feel welcome and want to go back to the stadium after that? knowing the club only let you back because of the backlash on Twitter.. no thanks - I'm a man of principles and I know OP is too. Damage is done.

Sick of Twitter causing fake apologises. Fake news and fake apologises are all the range.. it is like some fantasy World where Twitter says jump and everyone says how high ! a want realness, not fake PC BS.

This is a really sad case and the reason I never advertise my season ticket for games on the forum, I think people should take notice and be careful.

Last seasons against Leicester my seat was checked a few minutes before the game starting. I was not yet seated. The person was seated mistakenly on my seat had paid over 300.00 for the ticket. I was banned the following week. Missed a few games whilst the appeal was ongoing. Fortunately, I took some photos at the game and used this as evidence and was given my ticket back.

They don't give you any money back for missed games whilst the club sell the same tickets to others whilst we appeal. The club makes money twice for the same seat.

If the clubs ticketing office is reading this thread I've sorted out 100s of posters off this forum. If I was a tout it would have been confirmed by those I've passed tickets. I've been on this forum 13 years.
