Give him a chance. Big Fella can give him plenty of useful fashion advice :D

I think he’s definitely got a case against New Balance.

Think Mourinho prefers Savic.
Mourinho is a pragmatist, he makes a list. He might like Savic, but he signed a 5 year contract this year. He'd be a very difficult signing and we'll have to pay well, well over the odds. Which would make him high risk and the large fee would put a lot of pressure on the player himself (like it did on Pogba).

Goretzka by contrast is free. Although he might already have his head turned by Bayern, we don't know.

He wasn't going to leave Schalke in January anyway.
He'd be an idiot to. Why miss out on the sweet sign on bonus and the opportunity to drive your salary up by negotiating with many suitors in the summer.

More importantly, why jeopardize your place in the World Cup squad by leaving your certain starting spot and joining a new club, perhaps in a new league, in midseason.

I always think that any quality player in the Bundesliga running their contract down, is already acting under instructions from Bayern.

CL group stages is always a lure.

CL group stages is always a lure.
Not for the cost, it's irrational.

He moves to a top club and they get knocked out in the first round before he even plays a minute. Then what? In the meantime he's jeopardised his spot in the national team, lost out on a big sign on bonus and potentially a higher salary for the next 5 years. If he has his mind made up to move to a certain team, he could still go there in the summer, under better terms. Not to mention, if he has a good WC with Germany (which is very likely, it's the Germans after all) clubs will go nuts for him. He could be the Toni Kroos of this WC, in terms of interest generated. He could secure a 50-60m sign on bonus for himself.

He's 22, he'll get plenty of games at CL knock out stages once he gets his move up. Now's the time to focus on his game for the remainder of the season, rather than dream of a handful of CL games. At least that's what I'd be advising him if I was his agent.

Or - He joins a team still in the CL, he gets into the side and they go all the way. Once in a lifetime moment. And he is really eager to try himself in such a setting either way.

Not all decisions are made as a strict cost-benefit analysis.

Also, there is no way he'll secure a 50m+ signing bonus. Free transfers don't generally just pocket the fee their club might have demanded for them.

Goretzka is thought to prefer a move to Bayern Munich or Barcelona.

Bayern has too many good players. We are talking about names like Rodriguez, Thiago, Martinez, Tolisso or Vidal.
So I think he will join Barcelona unless we make him a huge and better offer.

His Schalke contract expires in 2018.. so why not?

Bayern play a midfield 3. They have Martinez,Vidal,Rudy,Tolisso,Thiago and James for those positions. Vidal will most likely be gone after the season, Thiago is injured half of the time,Rudy is a backup and James can only play the 10 position. So I could see where he would fit in next season.

We should make him a lucrative offer in January.
Agreed. If it transpires he chose Bayern over us, I’ll be pissed. Like many have mentioned on here before, when City wanted Sane & KDB, they not only blew Bayern by transfer fee but by wages to. If we wanted be the best, we will have to go out and pay the best.

We should definitely try and make it difficult for Bayern by offering him wages which would then force them to put him on parity with their high earners in midfield.

Good age, good technically, exactly the position we need.

If we are not in for him on a free, we'd be daft.

does reek of Bayern, but we got to at least try

Wether it reeks of Bayern or not, we should put down a very lucrative offer on the table and see if Bayern will offer him wages which will match some of the top earners at the club.

We agreed on terms for a contract with KDB. The wages were fine. We were unwilling/unable to pay the fee.

Oh ok. But yea, that’s what I mean, if we really want him, we have to go that extra mile. Just the problem this time is, he has all the control, unlike in KDB’s situation, where Wolfsburg had some say in the transfer.

Fabinho, He would like to come here, is versatile, can fill in for Valencia at RB, he can play DM, or AM, and what we need right now.

What’s this got to do with Goretzka?
