There's no harm in Arsenal enquiring about the possibility of getting Martial. Why do some of you take such offence to that?

Didn't Inter Milan want money and Martial for Perisic in the Summer?

What is it about these shitty clubs that think they can get Martial?
He's class and other managers obviously read too much into the whole Jose doesn't rate Martial narrative.

"You and your paper can feck off."
I hope that 'categorically rejected' means Arsenal put the phone down after 20 minutes of Ed's laughter to save money on the phone bill. Wouldn't want to eat into their data too much or Kate Upton's nudes wouldn't get to them.

How deluded can you be asking for Martial in exchange. In todays market he is a £70m + talent.

lets just say the longer we wait the longer we are giving City or another club to find this money for Sanchez.

PS Real Madrid are sitting 4th in La Liga and it wouldnt surprise me if they come in for Alexis.
My first reaction was why is Real not in the loop. They need a short term solution for their problems and Sanchez was cheaply available for big money.

Arsenal are being unnecessarily awkward in these negotiations now. Why on earth would we swap Martial for Sanchez? Sanchez is leaving in six months for free... take the sizeable ~£30m offer on the table and bid your farewells. It's beyond tedious from them.
standard negotiating with Arsenal then i guess.
If it was any other club Arsenal would have gotten the £60 million City bid for him in the summer and used that money to sign Thomas Lamar. But Wenger being Wenger delayed and was awkward in negotiations.

Just like how with 3 months till Sanchez leaves on a free Wenger is asking for Martial as well as £35 million for him. Unbelievable no wonder why City told them to F off.

Wenger seems a bit clueless on this. And with the back room changes; it wouldnt surprise me if Wenger agreed to Sanchez leaving and other people are working out the transfer.

In other words, the breaking news is that Arsene Wenger is ready to tell fans in his next press conference that he nearly signed Martial and Aubameyang whilst selling Sanchez to United.

Wenger
Even if we were stupid enough to accept any bid involving Martial, the player would laugh it off.

They couldnt even get Lemar from Monaco who were having a fire sale

No harm in asking. Arsenal now have Sanllehi and Mislintat who, like Wenger, know a thing or two about negotiation.

Edit: Sanllehi’s signed but hasn’t yet started work.

I fail to see how we agree a deal with them from here...
Yuup thats what im thinking

Arsenal board knows that fans want him to go to City not United. so they make an unreasonable demand for Martial knowing United wont agree and the deal will be shelved.

I guess they dont mind him leaving on a free in 3 months time.

Because it's stupid and insulting not to mention a waste of time when both clubs should be looking at concluding business sharpish.

Sanchez has a few months left in his contract and is currently valued at around 20-30 millions while Martial is one of the best young talent in the world with a value that should easily be exeeding 100 millions in this current market yet these guys think we're stupid enough to even entertain the idea of a swap deal like that.

It makes sense from a negotiating standpoint to ask for the furthest thing and then come down to an agreeable price.

If I was Wenger I'd ask for a centerback instead.
Wenger has always wanted Smalling.
I reckon Mourinho fancies him the least out of all his CB's.

But id happily give them Rojo

Bad piece of business by wenger, 30m or free next season.

Shouldn't have come to this. He should stick his gun and sign or sold him 2 years ago.

With ozil/sanchez that's like 60m at least goes down the drain on bosman

We should prepare to walk away if they persist for Martial. I still think they are waiting for a few £ on top of 30M. They took a similar stance during the summer when they wanted Sterling as part of deal for Alexis.

Why is everyone blaming Wenger when this has very little to do with him ?

Do you think Wenger sits round a table leading the negotiations?

How dare Arsenal, Spurs and Inter Milan trying to snap up Martial for a cheap price from Manchester United, they all forgot that United is not selling the club and spend 150m net every summer.

Feck off, they are not getting Martial.

Well no but as the manager of the football side of things at Arsenal (as opposed to the business suits who are up for selling him), he should be more demanding. There’s also a reason these big players always want to leave Arsenal!

I mean we were obviously going to reject a Martial swap deal, but fair play for them trying. Maybe try for de Gea next?

Nah, from a negotiating standpoint it makes you look like a fool. For example, if a player is worth 70m you don't ask for 500m but 120m-140m at the very most, otherwise you are signaling that you are not in a serious negotiations or that you think the other side is made of idiots.

Give them Miki and Smalling for Sanchez and Ozil. No cash - just a straight swap and everyone leaves happy. Well as happy as you can expect to be after leaving your two best players run their contracts down to the bone.

To be fair to those complaining about it being quiet, this is EXACTLY how the most recent transfers have gone down.

Lukaku - suddenly became favourite, was all sealed, then a few days go by when Chelsea are apparently back after him, then he signs for us.

Pogba - all done and dusted, everyone knows we're signing him, few days go by when (mostly Ballbag) murmurs that Real are in for him. Then he signs for us.

Everyone calm down.
Bang on.
