Problem with transfer stories is that you get reporters who have genuine contacts - those are the ones that often say very little and only Tweet/report when there's something to say. Then there are the second tier who know only what the top tier reporters are saying and attach vaguely plausible spin that you nobody can disprove even if it subsequently turns out to be false.
E.g: Top Tier journalist: United in lead to sign Sanchez and are hopeful of a deal being reached
Second Tier journalist: United in front but City still following closely, sources close to player believe Pep's side can still tempt him
Essentially the more information reported the less likely it is to be true. If you actually go by what the very top-level reporters report it's quite minimal, indepth on one theme. The bullshitters try and cram as much bullshit in as possible in order to make themselves look less bullshittery.

1. So it seems like we tried to use Mhiki as a bargaining chip in the Sanchez deal but Mhiki does not want to go to Arsenal (I guess who really wants to jump ship to one that's on the verge of sinking)
2. Wenger tried his luck of including Martial in the deal which is completely preposterous considering how much Martial's value has increased based on his performances this season. Martial is easily worth 60m+ in this market.

It'll be a structured deal based on performances etc. Standard journalistic reporting on finance is far too simplistic. Virtually all transfer fees, and wages are structured in very complicated ways, to cover myriad factors such as payment schedules, performance incentives etc. How United handle their finances is definitely the LEAST of my concerns about the club.

If not on Sanchez level, it will at least lead to a pay rise for those two. Instead of being satisfied with say 150-200k, they'd want 250-300.
But I guess the lack of transfer fee takes care of that.

Can't disagree with this. We had to do something similar for Zlatan, too, last season. And in retrospect, it was worth it.
Let's hope we have a similar scenario with Sanchez.
