Spurs are up for it tonight, we're not. Lingard is the only players who's trying all he can. All the others are busy whining or getting bullied by opposition.

Truly, an awful performance. That group of players should be well embarrassed and ashamed of themselves.
I saw Kane lining up on the right side at the start and thought 'hmm I wonder if they're going to kickoff and lump it to him'. And in fact they did and our entire back line looked like they just turned off. It is embarrassing .extremely.

Well that was a shocking defensive performance. Jones is having an absolute shocker and young isn’t far behind.

No idea why Jose has decided to move the team about either, if we’ve signed Sanchez to play LW you really have to wonder about our forward planning.

Where do the rules stand with forfeiting a game at half time? Are they as strict as the rules about starting in your own half?

Swap Sanchez and Martial. Get young and Jones off. Go 433 and let Pogba do what he's good at. All seem like really simple and obvious things. If they sit back we're screwed, we can't break down relegation fodder, luckily they're naive and will be desperate for Kane's 100th, so nicking a couple isn't beyond us. All we need is Jose to let us attack.
It’s weird the most of the caf sees this as the most obvious thing, and Mourinho simply refuses to do it.

I was happy to see such an attacking line up but in retrospect Herrera instead of Lingard would have been better. They have been miles better obviously but their goals were quite fortunate.

I get more and more pissed off at Jones the more i see that replay. Unforgivable defending, why isn’t he clearing that with his left if he is so pathetically inept at knocking the ball out on his right.

And some are still dreaming about winning the CL...

Mou has lost his "big game coach" nimbus and we've experienced this during the past 1 1/2 years more than once. Hope we don't get smashed - won't be good for our morale heading to a rock solid 0:0 against Huddersfield at the weekend!

Since the second goal this has been a pathetic, spineless performance. Our players have visibly given up. It's been a sobering half in every possible regard, from our mentality to our positional discipline to our techincal ability to our tactical setup. If Mourinho persists with this dreadful idea that Matic - Pogba - Lingard is a functional midfield you have to question his sanity.
Crazy to go 2 man midfield, should have been a diamond or three man midfield with Fellaini or herrera but Felaine is stronger and quicker.

Fecking Smalling. He really is a spineless defender. I hope Jose subs him 2nd half.

Let's be honest, we need to upgrade Jones and Smalling. They just lack composure and ball playing skills.

Can’t believe how badly we’ve fallen out of the game. They need to all start taking responsibility and showing some fight. Too much jogging around.

Young has been targeted by Spurs and showing his defensive liabilities, Pogba has been marked by 2 therefore can't get on the ball leaving Lukaku & Martial isolated. We also can't cope with their pressing at all, lost count how many times we have had the ball in midfield for it to go back to De Gea.

One positive though, if we win it from here it'll be a start of a new era.

Bring on a 3rd midfielder maybe for Lingard, and get calamity Jones off before he takes the decision away from the manager.

The play is too slow; too many needless extra touches being taken that is closing down options.

Really sad seeing Kane hold up balls, cause havok to our defenders, then you have lukaku who is double the size un able to hold his dinner. Its the clear difference between the two.

I had Fellaini in for Lingard in my team. Got 10 out of 11. I think Fellaini would have cleared that first ball.
In these games Pogba is our 4th attacking player not one of our two midfielders, how many times are we going to loose the midfield battle in these games

    I thought it was obvious.

When you defend deep as a collective unit and 10 men are deep within their own half, you win the ball back and all your own players are between 1 and 10 yards away from you! You're playing INTO their press by doing that!

It's common sense! If there's MORE players in one half of a field then it's harder to pass your way out of defence with short passes....... but we keep doing it and inviting their press.

Their own fault for dropping deep.

4-3-3. Herrera. Just stop it Jose. We can't control games at home against Palace with a midfield 2, why the feck are we playing it in (any!) this game?!

    Mental.

We don't know how this game would have went if Jones was able to do his job. The game plan went out the window and a spurs side that have been lacking some confidence have been reinvigorated through some poor play.

We are all blaming the midfield, but our two CBs look like an accident waiting to happen when on the ball and are being pressed on every single occasion. Plus how in sweet baby Jesus have Jones and Smalling looking so bad when spurs keep firing in long balls?

Everyone is playing badly and you’re taking the opportunity to dig Pogba out???

I am looking for him to show some leadership , it is not a big ask from one of our main players , he was a world record signing who disappears in every big game we play against decent opposition.

I really hope Mou is currently calling him out in the dressing room asking him to show some leadership and some balls.

It is ok doing it against lower and mid table teams , but these are games we really need him and Lukaku etc to make the difference in our favour. So far neither has shown they are capable.

We are luckey it is only 2 , that was a stonewall penalty.

I'm kind of sad that I have no confidence in Mourinho doing great turnarounds like in the good old days with Fergie. You'd never discount us before the final whistle. Nowadays I hope for a draw at best when we go down.

Yep, totally taken out of context, but please do troll some other posts to reaffirm how sad that is....care to offer any insight on how we are doing? Or is that above your footballing intellect?

No mate there were a lot of people stressing the need for 3 CMs. With Matic and Pogba one is slow the other barely defends, behind 4 attackers. Away from home at top 6. Fecking bollocks.
An extra man in midfield wouldn't have stopped that freak early goal or that Jones own goal. The latter was down to Young's positioning and Jones' genius decision to lace the ball with his foot closest to facing the goal.

Wait VAR couldn’t have been used for the first goal, so it would have stood. What’s the point in that?

I think I’d genuinely rather see Fellaini in midfield in these big games over Pogba who decides to stumble around the bitch and dither over the ball instead. It’s all very well saying you can’t expect him to play in a two man midfield but with his reputation and price tag, we really should expect more for him.
