IMO Pogba is more instrumental against smaller teams, because these teams give him time and space to hurt them.

Against top teams, Pogba is better as an auxillary player, where he is a pseudo attacker that does not influence the midfield play.

Not a big loss at this at this point if we're being honest. In a game like this in the form he's in, he might be great but he might be invisible. Someone like Fellaini is probably more reliable. It severely limits our attacking potential but makes it much more difficult for Liverpool's attacking game.
Agree with this.
Pogba would be totally bypassed .
He's nowhere near the midfield player United need to grab game's like this by the bollox.

It’s a big miss... even off-form, he’s still capable of things our other midfielders just can’t do. Against Palace he was poor by his standards... but he’s still comfortable on the ball, beats players and makes plenty of good passes. Could do with his dynamism going forwards today.

We spent 90 million for him to perform in these kind of games especially and it is frustrating that he misses yet another big game but I hope he's back for Sevilla and Brighton.

fecking joke! There are certain players who have niggling injuries or a “gash” on the leg and have no problem in stepping up and playing! Others are just too feckin soft!!

@Niall this is a perfect example of what I was saying the other day. News of a key injury lost in a player performance thread rather than being a new thread in the United forum.

Down with megathreads!
A reminder does seem to be needed. Will discuss with modmins.

Massive miss. They would sooner him not play than play and that says it all for me.....

It's becoming obvious to me that he is a player that can't be relied on and I don't think that's going to change anytime soon. He either misses the big games through 'injury' or he plays but goes missing anyway. He just doesn't have the bottle or the fight to be a success at United in my opinion. If we can recoup most of the transfer fee in the summer we should get rid and get in two proper, hard-working, top class midfielders who are up for the challenge.

Some serious drama queens on here. As if a player would fake an injury to miss such a big game at home. We don't even know what the injury is ffs

Missed both Liverpool games, missed Chelsea away, missed spurs at home, missed city at home.

Last season didn't play away at City, Spurs or Arsenal.

It's a recurring theme.
How many of those games last season did he miss due to injuries?

It is all about his body again as the worse his daily behaviour is the more possible an injury is .

This is when you drink 1 l whiskey and on the other day start running and if u usually run 5 km , then would u be able to run them ? Probably no .
I can’t, I just can’t.

Anyway, Pogba isn’t playing. Time to concentrate on who is.

All of them I think.

He missed a fair few games towards the end of last season. It's not his fault, I don't believe for a second he's faking injuries or any of that nonsense.

I just think he's injury prone.

He hasn’t looked right for weeks. People have been laying in to him in recent games for his performances but I’ve felt something was just off about the way he’s been playing. I think he’s been carrying an injury or something (illness) for a while.

This season:
He missed City due to suspension
Missed spurs due to injury
Missed Liverpool home and away due to injury
Missed Chelsea due to to injury

However, all the 3 missed big games were due to the same injury. Which is an important fact..

Going back to last season:
Missed spurs due to the death of his father
Missed City away due to injury
Didn't miss Arse away, he was on the bench

So no. There is no pattern to be observed, and nothing to suggest he's more injury prone than an average player.

Fair enough. I couldn't remember the others.

Honestly don't think it's a huge miss given his historical performances in these games. The Arsenal away match this season is heavily overrated in terms of his work (more impressive in short bursts than anything).

Wish we got 2 actual quality midfielders instead of throwing 90 million at him tbh. He's been decent on the whole, but decent at best. Showing little bits of quality here and there when we play home games against relegation fodder isn't what we wanted when we spent the money on him. We needed him to run games for us and be the difference maker against tough opposition, and hes never been that.

Missing yet again for a big game and leaves us so light in midfield. Just so frustrating. Though he does generally completely flop in big games, but still.

People saying he's "not a huge miss" are doing him a huge disservice. He's had some abject performances, no denying that, but he's absolutely key to our creativity and the simple fact that when he's not on form we're a much much worse side only highlights just how integral he is to our best play. Therefore when he's not playing at all, we're a worse side. He's comfortable on the ball and can carry it through the middle, two attributes that will be key today and his ability to bypass their midfield with his searching passes would have given Liverpool a headache when they press in numbers in our half.

Absolutely. Even if he's having a horrible game, his ability to create something extraordinary out of nothing means teams have to still account for him. With a midfield of Mctominay and Matic they know they don't have to worry about that.

I think that's pretty worrying though beyond complimenting Pogba.

Disappointed.

It feels like he’s never here for the big games, either because of injuries or because he just doesn’t show up.

Do me a favour. The comments on this forum are something else at times. The guy isn't fit. Simple as. Talk about getting rid of him is silly.. why? because he hasn't been so good in some of the recent games? he has all the attention, whilst others can meander through a season, with consumate ease, and the odd performance. With Pogba, it's a huge drama.

The guy is class, and is our best footballer. Of course he will be missed.

Glad that Rashford is getting a start. This may all actually help Sanchez.. but we are definitely playing a front five, for sure. Matic and McTominay have to be on there game.
