From a purely technical ability standpoint there's maybe an argument tbf. Prime Robben was something else too, though.
even prime Robben never was as technically skilled as Ribery, who would be my #2. Robbens biggest asset is his speed rather than his technique, in a sense that he is not as effective in a 1#1 if he can't go into it with a speed advantage. He isn't a one-trick-pony as some call him, but he's much more limited in a tight spot and has practically just one foot.

Second half starts with excitement on both ends.
First Ribery could have made it 2 for us, then Martinez with a last second save in our box.

Would definitely take Costa. Just bring a different energy and vision that we lack at United.

btw class so far from Ref Orsato in the Sevilla match. Allows a bit of contact, but strict and decisive when it matters. Apart from the handball for the 1-0 no wrong decision so far.

edit: seing James running the show makes me really wonder why he didn't start. Maybe the plan was to reign in the stingy Sevilla midfield with Vidals presence, which backfired when he hurt his leg so early.

It's a pretty incredible statement, considering that I struggle to remember more than 10 games where he looked really above everyone else (and that's a pretty generous view considering that he never played well in big matches). At the same time ribery almost won the balon dor as best player in an incredible team. Even if I just rate "technical skills", he wouldn't be top20 Bayern player of the last 25 years when we look at actual performances and not some mystical talent, that for he is hiding pretty well.

@GifLord

Can we get a gif of Ramos's face as he was elbowed by Dybala @ 54:45-ish? Looked like it was taken from a Rocky movie :lol:

Is it wicked to find that slow motion replay of the Ramos slap the most enjoyable moment in the game so far?

Carvajal is such a thug. Lucky to get away with that stamp.
The same player who went down in apparent agony because of nothing earlier in the game. That's the infuriating part about some of those Madrid players.

Juventus doesn't deserve to be losing.

What makes Dybala so good? Haven't seen much of him but never really stands out when I do.

taken from the BBC live text page...

That booking puts Sergio Ramos one off the record number of bookings in the Champions League by the way.

Held by tackling legend Paul Scholes!
