Is that Fred guy any good?
Watched all I can find on him and my assessment would be he improves us but Naby improves Liverpool more and same for Jorginho if City get him.

Not sure Fred is really good enough to bring us to the required level. Hope I am wrong.

Both, Fred and Keita bring the ability to drive through midfield, which at the moment, is what we lack.

Herrera, who, at the moment is our link player, does not do this.

Pogba does it, but in a three, we don't want him dropping so deep, as we want him to do his best work in the final third.

Fred's ability to dribble and play in between the lines, which he really good at, would make our build up play more progressive and less ponderous.

Why does Jose always give these cryptic messages! Now all the muppets will be guessing one Brazilian after another for the whole summer.

Great player is an absolute stretch. He’s a good PL standard player, nothing more.

It’s true we have no actual right wingers, but that doesn’t mean we should settle for anyone. The hassle and cost of dealing directly with Chelsea isn’t worth the quality you receive. Statistically he’s really no better than Martial or Rashford - his 6 goals and 7 assists is much of a muchness to Martial’s 9 and 5, and Rashford’s 6 and 5.

Plus, there’s far more important positions to target. Both fullbacks and central midfield specifically. Mourinho’s comments seem to suggest we’re capped in the amount of players we’ll be able to bring in, so I’d much, much rather we focus on going big City-style on fullbacks to revamp our play.
I really like Willian and enjoy watching him, he was a huge threat against Barcelona this season I have to say. I really would class him as a great little player, possesses so many brilliant qualities and would be fantastic in our system, if we were to get him I think the classification as "good PL standard player, nothing more" would be proven incorrect, the guy still has the ability to excel even more if you ask me, and Jose would be the perfect guy to get the best out of him. Pity he won't come but if there's any chance I really hope we nab him.

Like many others if we're guessing who the most likely Brazillian addition is, I'd guess Fred as well.

Maybe it could be players less well known. Such as some of these (these are all real players):

Imagine John Lennon at left back. I know if he went to another team I'd be a Jealous Guy.

I bet Mosquito would buzz around our midfield.

Marlon Brandao may be difficult to attract unless we make an offer he can't refuse.

I've heard good things about Claudio Pitbull. I hear once he gets the ball he's like a dog with a bone.

I'll get my coat.

Anyone but Rashford
NEYMAR CONFIRMED

Fred seems a decent player but there's any amount of great options who would improve us. Sandro and Fabinho are two players we should at least be enquiring about.

There was a first division team in 2013 who had John Lennon, Gandhi and Watchmen in the same team

Fred
Alex Sandro
Jorginho (Italy born Brazilian)
Douglas Costa
Willian
Richarlison
Fabinho
Andreas Periera

Assuming one of them...

I'd go as far as saying Sandro(50m), Fabinho(40m), Fred (35m) and Douglas Costa (35m). Would solve almost all our current quality depth problems as well as being nailed down starters. That's 160. If only we'd put down another 40m and get Alderwierleld. If we were to sign one Brazilian that's available it would have to be Sandro. Because I've had enough of this stupid LB situation.

Out of these 3 IMO. If we sell Martial to Juventus then we would definitely try to get Douglas Costa in return IMO, or Alex Sandro as part of the deal since we need a left back. Definitely feel like we'll get Fred as well, with Jorginho most likely gonna go to City because of the match of play styles. All 3 would be terrific signings, but I'm expecting one and max 2 of those 3.

Edit: Fred is apparently only 5'6"... yeah Mourinho is not going to sign a midfielder that short. Next!

I will be forever gutted that Anderson didn't make it because of fecking injuries, we could do with a plyer of his profile in midfield for sure! About time we signed some technically incredible wonderkid form Brasil, they all seem to go to Real when they are 15

Probably just PR smooching the Brazilian media that were interviewing him. Out of the Brazilians we've been linked with Sandro is the only one I'd want to see at United.

Very underrated player.
He's a really exciting talent and would be fantastic down our right flank.

But Sandro, Fabinho & Fred are all possibilities and all would improve us as a team, I'm sure of it.
Sandro would be a superb LB for us, probably teh best available, and Fabinho's versatility means he could rotate with Valencia & Matic, raising competition and fitness in those positions.
Fred looks great on Youtube, but I'm still undecided if he is the missing piece for our midfield.

I heard great things about Creedence Clearwater as the people on the Beyou where he was born have been raving about him.

I'm with you on this one. Willian is a good player but we need better. Not to mention he will be 30 in 3 months time.

What type of midfielder is Fred? Is he a more defensive-minded midfielder like Fernandinho or an attacking one? If we are after a ball-carrier in midfield then Kovacic is the perfect player for us imo.

Fernandinho, Willian, and Firminho.
Not gonna happen obviously but we could definitely do with a player like him imo. Occasional dirtiness aside, a brilliant player to have in your midfield.

I think he just said it because he was talking to the Brasilian media. But if we're putting bets then I'll go for Alex Telles from Porto.

Mourinho likes the more physical industrious Brazilians like Lucio, Maicon, Casemiro, Willian. He doesn’t like Malcom or Neres style players.

I think he will go for Fred, Alan or Richarlison
