 He's such a prick.

Even if he is gutted not to have made it, his opinion should be between him and Southgate.
Smalling is probably just as gutted, has been disrespected far more by Southgate (basically was told no matter how well he played he wasn't getting picked, while the door is (or was) still open for the rest of the players dropped), and is coming off a far better season for a better team but isn't mouthing off as far as we can see.

For those giving Southgate credit for taking risks - it’s not all that hard when you’ve been told your job is safe even if you go out in the group stage.

We all love United
He's right to be fair. He's the only English midfielder after Oxlade Chamberlain who can take the ball, run and create chances for the striker, and he can dish it out a little. Certainly thrice better than Jordan Henderson or Dier who play pointless sideway passes

Congratulations! You appear to be one of the few people here who can watch a footballer and see how well he plays the game.

He's a very average midfielder these days, not got close to fulfilling his potential.

That said, he's still better than any one else we're taking to the World Cup in central midfield. It's more a reflection of how shite Henderson and Dier are than how good Wilshere is but it's true.

Did Shelvey come out and say “I should be in the England squad”?

Who the hell is Jack Wilshere?

He's not said anything to warrant the mass outrage and condemnation.

I don't rate him but I'm really surprised that Southgate did not pick either Wilshere or Shelvey for the squad. I'd have taken Shelvey personally but to not pick either is a bit strange if you ask me.

So Arsenal have a poor season. Wilshere starts 12 PL games for them, of which they win 5 draw 4 lose 3, so average marginally less points with him starting than when he doesn't start, yet he thinks he should be in the England squad. Delusional.

What makes it even more ridiculous, is the one time Southgate selects him in a squad for a couple of friendlies, he pulls out injured. Anyone with even a tiny amount of self-awareness might have suspected that was his last chance to make a case for himself for this World Cup.

His delusion is not helped by the fact that the media and fans think he is better than he actually is.

If I was an England fan I'd have wanted Scrappy to go. Not that I rate him that highly, but the rest are no great shakes and at least he has a bit of confidence about him to receive and carry the ball.

Aldo his media interaction just sums up his maturity as a person I honestly don't belive England have another player of his profile. Therefore, Southgate's job was to bring a more versitale squad and he should have included Wilshere among the 23. Having Dier and Henderson is basically having the same player in the squad with little to no contribution going foward.

Carry the ball into opposition players and lose it, yeah.

I think him or Lallana should have been risked, but at the expense of a fullback. If Southgate rates Alexander-Arnold over Wilshere as a creative midfield option at the moment then it's fine. Loftus-Cheek is a good player with upside current Wilshere doesn't have.

Henderson and Dier's role in the team is different to that of Wilshere though. Henerson and Dier are proper CDMs and ideally fight for CDM position. Wilshere on the other hand is a CM, playmaker type and had he been selected, will play alongside one of those two. wilshere's competition is with RLC, MIlner ( is he included? ), Ox ( injured ryt?), livermore and even Alli and lingard to some extent.

I don't rate him but I'm really surprised that Southgate did not pick either Wilshere or Shelvey for the squad. I'd have taken Shelvey personally but to not pick either is a bit strange if you ask me.
I personally would have picked Shelvey too.

I love hearing honesty from athletes these days. Too many cliches and playing it safe.

Sure he's an idiot at times but a better footballer than Henderson and he's venting because injuries have ruined his career. Must be tough to see inferior players go to a world cup when he will watch at home.

Totally agree with you. He is being honest about his feelings and has expressed his frustrations without abusing or denigrating anyone. He certainly does'nt deserve to get so much stick for this tweet.

I think Loftus-Cheek is the only Wilshere like player in the squad. Not picking Wishere/Shelvey in the squad especially after Ox's injury is a big gamble.

What's the point of his tweet ? Being honest is good but you gotta ask yourself what's the reason behind this tweet ?

Wonder what club he will even be at next season. Still not signed a new contract, so wonder if Arteta rates him.

The contract is on the table. He is only waiting for the next manager and then he hopefully will extend. It's not about "if Arteta rates him", it's more like "if Jack wants to wirk with Areta."

This was before the squad was announced? Wishere has come out saying "it's about time I had my say". No Jack, you are not that special.
Yes last summer or something he said England are crying out for a midfielder like him but being picked is fickle and based on saying the right things in the media.

Wilshere has come out saying that after the countless shit posted about him. He has every right to come out and say what is actually happening instead of letting journalists spout their shit in the media. He has said he is disappointed not to make the squad and felt he should but he respects the manager and will be supporting the team. Nothing wrong at all with what he has said nor has he claimed to be special.

No top team will take Jack anyway. He should be grateful Arsenal are keeping him.

He thinks he is special because of this interest in him not being in the squad. He has done nothing this season and needs to sit down.

To express his disappointment. What is the point of anyone tweeting?
There are about dozens more interesting reasons to tweet for. This is a cry for attention, he hasn't been called up like hundreds of players around the players, they don't tweet about it. They just get on with it. He is a little bitch ""it's about time I had my say". Who the feck does he think he is ?

Exactly. Why does little Jack Wilshere need to “have his say”. You have done nothing.

He's an average midfielder nothing more. There's only so long you can keep harping on about potential until you realise he's at his level. Won't be missed and being excluded from what is the weakest England side in my lifetime says everything about his quality.

I see, though I'm sure Arteta could either have that offer withdrawn or tell him he won't play, forcing him to go elsewhere.

Yeah, if his name wasn't Wilshere and he played for Brighton, nobody would bat an eyelid at his exclusion.

Cannot believe that he wasn't picked after that game he's had against Barcelona when he was 18, cannot see England bringing it home now.
