Have you even watched the video? The question was: what makes an entertaining FINAL?

Does anyone think Mourinho will still be here after next season?

Everyone seems to think next season will be his last. Myself included. It would seem weird if he started a 4th season with us. It feels like next season he really has to win the PL or CL. With his brand of football you have to compensate by winning major trophies.

I think his ego will keep him here until he wins either the PL or the CL with the former being more possible to achieve. If the club wants him here too, that is. But, on the other hand, i also think that he's tired of playing catch up with Guardiola. It can be soul-draining when you make it up to 85 or 90+ points and you end up empty handed every season or with very little to show for. So, if he snatches a PL title next season and makes certain that nobody will say he's been a failure here, he might think that it's a good opportunity to seek a way out to an easier league.

Yes. He was just given a 1 year extension and all reports indicate that the board and the Glazers are very happy with Jose at the helm.

Anyone expecting more entertaining football next season is going to be very dissapointed.

Winning six nil is not entertaining to Mourinho...
He's not a football fan, he is a professional.

He is a pragmatist, who doesn't get the emotion of football, in my view.

Rationally, Mourinho is right that a close game should be more exciting, but he has lost what it feels like to watch your team blow the opposition away with great football; the buzz, the optimism and the excitement for the next game.

As long as he wins trophies, or at least maximises the number of points/wins he gets he doesn't care too much. 1 nil, job done, go home.

See I don't think he is a pragmatist anymore really, I think he's ideologically woven to being the anti-Barcelona (winning ugly, being reactive and having limited possession). There was nothing pragmatic about the way he set up against Sevilla, a pragmatist would see they were weak at the back and would go at them but he couldn't bring himself to do that, while we ended up drawing several games 1-1 last season where we were well on top and then once we got ahead we just stopped playing and tried to hang on for a 1-0.

The issue with what he's saying is he's not suggesting it's boring for a team to win all the time (his Chelsea and Real Madrid sides did that) or that he wants to see end-to-end wacky Kevin Keegan-esque scorelines, he's suggesting that winning narrowly because you don't even try to batter a team is more appealing than playing on the front foot and trying to batter them.

What for saying that winning six nil is not entertaining to him? Damn right I’m going to berate that. You might be happy with our style of play, but I’m not, and seemingly things aren’t going to change any time soon.
He knows we won't beat Chelsea 6-0 tomorrow and so is obviously going to say that. You expect him to come out and say, "Oh yes, if we win 1-0 tomorrow, we will be disappointed" and take the shine out of the FA Cup beforehand?

When we were winning 4-0, he was bigging that up as well and saying we were producing good football. Why do you take a manager's public statements so seriously to crucify him like that? All managers are under constant pressure from the media and so they improvise according to the situation. You also believe Poch's repeated statements that the domestic trophies are useless and he doesn't care if he doesn't win a trophy?

There is nothing to suggest that Mourinho's 100% satisfied with our current brand of football. In fact, he knows it, that's why he is defiantly hiding behind the trophies excuse. The only question mark is whether he has the capability to rectify it, which he will probably try next season.

When asked whether Saturday's clash will be an open game, Mourinho said: "I still don't understand these words of 'entertaining'. You think 6-0 is entertaining? I don't think so."

Asked what emotions he thought he and opposite number Antonio Conte would be experiencing at Wembley, Mourinho said: "I think entertaining is emotion until the end, it's the open result until the end, it's everybody on their seats until the end, both dugouts nervous and tense with the unpredictability of the result.

"That for me as a football lover is entertaining, so I think so it's going to be entertaining."
I think it's pretty obvious that he means winning 6-0 won't make for an entertaining final for the neutral. For instance winning 5-4 with the winner in the last minute of extra time makes for a more entertaining final.

You have to admire Jose's confidence though. No subject is taboo for him, fans, club legends the media he goes after them all to make his point. You guys are the best you've been since Fergie left i can kind of see his point, that he gets all this criticism, i don't think it was this bad for LVG or Moyes.

My prediction is he won't be extremely successful with United but the manager who comes in after will reap the benefits of his reign.

If someone lashes out at you and you respond in like manner, I wouldn't blame you for doing that. Don't understand why some here are bashing Jose??

He is who he is, a world class son of a bitch both in and outside of the stadium. We are in a great position yes and deep down I expected this, that he'd win trophies with us and steer us back to winning ways after moyes and lvg. And I knew his pragmatism would eventually become a bigger problem , just didnt expect it so soon. Attacking football is important for us as well as developing academy talent. So as long as he keeps us winning and uphold the prestige of the club by mounting a serious challenge for the title then we are in a great position for the next manager if he goes.

He didn't say anything we didn't already know. During the 4-0 streak he cautioned fans saying "I’d rather swap one 4-0 win for four 1-0 victories but I know that’s not possible." Huge margin victories aren't a priority

There is some truth to that. He expressed on more than one occasion how the PL is his favorite because of its competitiveness. He was not talking in terms of title races as his PL wins came at a canter but more in terms of how individual games go. His point was that at Real, the games were won so easily as opposed to the physical battles in England his Chelsea had faced at grounds like Bolton, Newcastle and so on.

He seems to get a genuine buzz out of a good battle, tactical and physical but not so much from an expressive dominant performance where attacking fluidity is at its peak. I think all managers and fans enjoy the former, there is a visceral rush to an emotional draining battle. Who can forget our CL win vs Chelsea for example and even the much maligned Liverpool vs Chelsea games in that area had a real draw about them. But to not find as much joy in developing a fluid coherent offensive unit and seeing it come to life with dominant performances is really strange for a football lover. Most successful managers had that genuine love for that side of the game and they expressed in different ways. Fergie loved his wing play and strikers causing all sort of problems at the other end. Klopp is the same with winning the ball high up and committing so many men forward with such speed and Guardiola obviously loves nothing more than seeing his team combine with quick moves in the opponents' half. You just never get that feeling with Mourinho with anything other than the final score. It seems like the only thing that really excites him.

I would hope the board does. As well as himself and the players. I hope he will be. It means we keep progressing and he'll continue to oversee the development of the team. I also expect us to be significantly better next season.

The day we signed him was the day we gave up on developing Rashford and Martial. Jose can't see young talent or knows how to bring the best in them. I wish SAF got these two early. Pogba has turnout to be just a youtube player. No motivation, no hunger, just haircuts.

Wow, the revisions here! It was a comment taken out of context when he was asked what makes an exciting cup final!
But no, another reason to have a go at him.

We're already playing catch up with city with the 2nd best manager and solid cash thrown out. But yet somehow we have to handicap ourselves by playing unproven youth just to prove a point because its united way.

So play good, better city, play more youth, have to stay at the helm for 10+years while constantly rebuilding sides after sides.

That's an Everest to climb for the next manager.

Mourinho is a winner, but I don't think he will ever change his way of playing. If his way wins us the Premiership and other trophies, most fans will be happy.

I would rather WIN playing attractive football, and being good offensively and defensively combined.

We (fans) and the board put way too much pressure to play youth and it costs us. Jose feels he must play at least one of Rashford, Lingard or McTominay although it's quite obvious that none of them are good enough. For the same reason we are willing to let more talented players like Martial go because if we sold Rashford the outrage from the fans and the media would be massive. Then when everyone finally realises they are not good enough, we sell them (Welbeck, Cleverley, Gibson and about a million more players). It was OK with SAF as he was truly a genius and could have won a PL with a championship side but we won't have a manager like him anytime soon, if ever.

Style of play can definitely be improved but this United side is clearly lacking something as Jose's teams were usually very good in counter attacking. We suck at it, probably because we have failed wingers playing as fullbacks and literally no RW in the team. That's why we play extremely narrow with absolutely no width.

If we aren’t still in the title race at Christmas time I think things will get very toxic.

Jose will start blaming the club for not backing him in the transfer market and the players for not performing. Things will probably get pretty nasty.

If he’s going to stick with this shit on a stick football next year then he has to win the premier league. No excuses.

It could all blow up if we are not up there challenging at Christmas time. If that happens then we may see a big shift, but I hope not a players revolt.

Who knows, it would be hard to sack him if he even repeats this season. It would be a big move but it’s why Chelsea moved him first time and why Real didn’t take to him either. Now reports are coming out that there is division in the board, some want him to stay others don’t. Reportedly lining up Poch to take over next year.

He's sapped the entire joy of supporting United. The coward has to go. You can't play cup finals that negatively at this club.

No trophies, 20 points off top team in the league. Can we please say that's enough to have him out?

(silver lining? Pretty please?)
