That ex Barca guy that came on at 70 mins should've started, one of the few for Korea that looks like he can actual carry the ball and pass it.

Korea aren't getting a single point from this world cup. Sweden won't be far behind in following them out.

Thanks for the information
Look like nz will be a feature for most of future World Cup?
It makes qualification trivial for a ton of countries. There is no way Brazil and Argentina are finishing 8th in qualifiers. Same can be said for US, Mexico and Costa Rica, Japan, Korea, Australia.

4 minutes of injury time? After VAR, this should be the next phase of the evolution. Consistent time-keeping.

Isn't it crazy that the winning team always suffer from cramp but the losing team doesn't?

Next time a friend says they are getting cramp, I'll just tell them to start winning at life.

Weird ending to a boring game.

Germany with no room for mistakes now. They HAVE to beat Sweden.

UEFA should have gotten 22 teams at least. European teams make for the best games. Denmark, Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Austria and the Czech Republic should be in World Cups.
Denmark and Poland is competing in this WC.

So Korea calling for a handball there but the ref is ignoring it. Does that mean he makes a decision to use VAR on whether he can't be 100% certain? Or does he get told in his ear by someone watching a replay that he needs to review the footage?

Wales and Italy to that list too. There's a good 6 or so European teams that didn't qualify that would've been better than most of the Asian teams.

Netherlands are trash. You could make a case for more South American teams like Ecuador and Chile who play entertaining football.

Wrong thread mate. Also Denmark and Poland are in it. Sweden beat the Netherlands and Italy to qualify.

Huge problem in modern football. And people falling to the ground for no apparent reason, just because they can and because it's clever. Example yesterday; Lichsteiner gets a little slap - goes to the ground in agony. Would he do the same if it happened outside of a football field or if they were losing? Of course not. Players are on the ground for 45 seconds - 2 minutes all the time. Every game. The referee, who's supposed to stop the game only because of head injuries, stops because the players ask him to.
The calibre of referee plays a huge part in that. Syzmon Marciniak for instance in Argentina Iceland yesterday waved play on on a lot of fouls that were more dives than fouls. But the referee today blew his whistle probably 98% of the time someone went to ground, and about 3/4 of those were actually fouls.

Nah, ref just stopped play without seeing if korea’s attack came to anything so that people couldn’t moan that VAR “takes the passion away from the game” if korea had scored and celebrated only for it to be taken away.

Form is temporary, bans are permanent.

I'd love to see Ireland, Wales and even Scotland at the World Cup. The players give their everything on the park in these international games. Wales at the last Euros, for example.

Italy are shit. What gives them the right to be in the World Cup ahead of an Asian team ? Same with Holland
If either of those teams faced Korea or Saudi, they'd win 9 times out of ten. They're not as strong as they usually are but they're not that bad.

The world cup though isn't about just the best teams, it's about inclusion from every region so it's just the way it is.

I see ITV have put Andy Townsend's Tactics Truck to good use.
And I still didn't expect that voice from Mark Clattenberg

Sweden beat both Netherlands and Italy to qualify, so they definitely deserve to be in it ahead of Italy or Netherlands based on merit.

9 times out of 10 are stats based on nothing
Saudis are terrible so you would be right but I see nothing in Italy that makes me think they would better consistently Korea. They really are that bad

That was probably the worst game so far in terms of quality. I saw Korea in one of the warm up friendlies and was quite impressed with them but they were very disappointing today, especially in the final third.

Still an enjoyable watch though - you couldn't fault either side for effort even if I can't see either of them laying a glove on Germany or Mexico.
