It's never revealed what happened there, remember during the game it mentioned that all the giants disappeared to jotunheim and sealed/hid the doorway a very long time ago. And that's the last anyone heard from them. I'm sure the reason will form part of the storyline for the next game, I reckon we will probably find out it was Odin and Thor that committed this genocide and sealed the doors
Thanks, I was 90% sure but I still had a little doubt about whether I missed a crucial bit of info regarding that. I gotta say the way they portrayed all those dead giants was great. I took long minutes to watch everything in detail and will do so now after replaying it with photomode now.
edit: I now have a good idea of what happened in Jotunheim, Mimir's explained here from 12:36 to 15:00

I'm tired of seeing interviews, great job, great game, you're all amazing, stop milking it. Since the game came out he's suddenly been everywhere.

What a weird thing to say, the guy gets invited to talk about the game, why would he refuse and no he hasn't suddenly been everywhere. The guy has been known for more than a decade

Knew his name but never seen his face before this game

Turns out when you make a fantastic game people want to talk to you.
HZD and Zelda BOTW are fantastic games too, didn't see much of either directors(don't know what they even look like) , if there was any interview or anything it was usually a team thing. Got nothing against the guy but he needs to chill it a bit. The one he was crying when he saw the reviews, the one in the car, with ign etc

The Valkyries are actually fairly easy once you've nailed the parry. There's also an enchantment that increases the parry window making it a bit more trivial.

I think you need to chill.

Firstly Aonuma who is the director of Zelda can’t even speak English. If he does interviews it’s in Japanese.

Team thing?

Does it make any difference to you how good the game is? I mean I haven’t bothered watching any of these videos you said. I don’t wanna watch them, so like normal people just ignore them. Maybe you should try that.

I don't watch them actually, except the review one which was his first I think. Anyways this is off topic, back to the game

Guerrilla Games garnered a hell of a lot of publicity after the release of HZD, with interviews, etc.

This kind of thing.

Wish I had one of those men in Black mind wipers so I could start again with no experience of the game.

Great. Now hold that thought, and release it next time you get triggered by an edgy thread on neo-reset...

I don’t get triggered.

I find it funny. The only person who gets “triggered” is you in that thread.

Also big difference. You can ignore YouTube videos. But you can’t ignore when you go in a news or review thread and people moaning the character isn’t black or isn’t a women. Probably you because you are obsessed with that sort of thing. I’m more of a gameplay person.

Nah it was just a bit of harmless fishing... I'll say no more ;)

He's never seen me in a thread like that in fact I told him to ignore them so I found it funny what he said to the other poster. No big.

Don't know if this has been asked yet, but should I buy this if I've never played a God of War game before?

Yeah you can easily pick it up and play. It's very different from the other games and welcoming to new players, plus there are plenty of short recap videos on YouTube.

Very easily so because it's a brand new story and world
Yeah I've played it for like 10 hours and I haven't had any issue at all. It's bags of fun and might be one of my favorite games on the PS4 if the story keeps progressing the way it is.

Glad I read this thread or else I'd never think about buying it .

I don’t really have time to play on my ps4 these days (or look up review sites) and usually the caf suggests some pretty good games. It’s the first game I play in like 8 months on my PS4 so yeah .

Can anyone tell me how far I've gone? And how much more is there? I want to go back to normal life :(

I've returned to the Witch's Cave with the severed head after coming back from the original mountain

No idea, I've just been dipping in and out of MP games since I beat it. There's plenty more to do after you beat it BTW.

I might get Vampyr which came out today.

Finally got myself to tear Monster Hunter out of my PS4 to try this. Awesome so far, really like the combat and setting.

Decided to pick Give me a challenge difficulty. They're not kidding, it's fecking hard.

This game is incredible! Been playing it the last couple of weeks and enjoying it so much. Just when you think you've gotten used to the mechanics they add something new to it.

You'll get the hang of it soon enough, and you'll be glad you chose the harder difficulty.

Can you carry on playing after the story? I've just

Got the heart from that thing in hell and fixed me boy. And having also recently acquired that thing that opens secret doors I'm stressing about all those I went past in the game and need to check out but I can't remember where they are so I might leave them til after the story.

Yeah they're basically meant to be done after you finish the game. They're much more difficult than anything you encounter in the main game.
