People just love a good moan and just quickly want to stick the knife into the club at first opportunity.

Disaster. Sanchez deal was a mistake in Jan with little time of team building, now the only chance of team building is gone. So how are we going to work out a Lukaku-less formation. It will be once again Sanchez plus the other 10 players.

Read something on Twitter that Sanchez will connect with the rest of the squad later next week.
No he won't Sanchez is denied US VISA because of his tax fraud conviction. He can only join the tour when the team leave USA for somewhere else.

There really should be someone at Manchester United who is responsbile for making sure the playing staff can travel. The club has known for months both that it was going to the USA and that Alexis has a strike on his record. Plus Alexis has not been at the World Cup. Some time between the end of last season and now someone should have looked at the playing squad and taken the steps to make sure they could travel to the States.
We don't know the detail. There was a chance We might have requested for waiver as soon as we confirm summer tour in US. As Key said, the process took longer than expected. We know the US under Trump is having changes in immigrant matter that affect the speed of process all these visa, waiver thing. Case may different but I heard someone from other department of my company was approved to enter the US, but has been waiting for his visa for 3 weeks!!! That person got approved and all. Waiveing may take more time.

Looks like it's an issue that's completely out of the club's hands and instead with the US. Can't exactly reschedule a whole tour to accommodate for one player either.
We knew about this tour and Alexis for months. Getting a dispensation for this wouldn’t take months if everything was done correctly. He’s literally a public figure and rich enough that the US authorities would fast track the approval because this is for a work event and not for a personal holiday.

I’m actually waiting for a US visa now. I was told it might take six months. It haven’t waited that long before, so it has completely messed up my plans.

Couldn’t care less if he doesn’t play in these friendlys, as long as he’s ready come the start of the season.

Lukaku won’t be playing in them either.
If he doesn't play games he won't be ready for the season. That is what these games are for.

Us won't let our Alexis in yet we let Trump into the country . I know who I think is the bigger criminal. What he did was wrong but he isn't a threat to the public.

Geez, chill guys. Don't need to go into panic mode. The way some of you are going about this sounds like Sanchez is glued to his couch stuffing his face with crisps Netflixing 24/7 just because he can't join up for the tour temporarily. I'm pretty sure he is undergoing his own personal training regime in the mean time. This isn't Football Manager. Sanchez is a professional athlete and there are other ways to get match fit as well.

OK Sanchez is'nt on the tour, neither is most of our starting XI, he needs games with Pogba, Matic, Fred, Lukaku, Rashford and Lingard involved.

Maybe it has taken months. I don't know, in truth. Unless you work for either United of US immigration (?) then I'm not sure how you're so confident with this viewpoint. Or do you enjoy criticising the club in spite of probable reality?

As if we need such a morally turpitudinous (might not be a word, but it should be) individual on our tour anyway.

It’s not really a big issue. He’s played with this squad for 5 months.

RvP tore it up from day 1. Even Di Maria managed to have a big impact before he gave up. That’s what top players do. If by end of September Sanchez is still the same one we saw from last season it won’t be because of 4/5 preseason games.

Can't wait for the start of the tour and see Dalot in action and there's a possibility Fred will join up before the end of the tour

It'd be great if he could bang a few goals though. Still, worst case I assume he'll play a few U23 preseason games and bag a few anyway.

He's one of those players who doesnt really show how well equipped he is on the basis of team training/bonding.

Alexis at his best is an individual. If hes physically fit in a months time (as he was clearly gassed out by March), I'll be happy.

I'm not expecting the blistering dribbler from 2010, but he is definitely an explosive player who plays with adrenaline and in the spur of the moment.

Looks like Woodward has lost all his passion for the club similar to Abramovič. Sell to buy policy in probably the most important summer for United and Mourinho, and now this farce.

It would have taken one phone call to the right places to sort this stuff out but Ed did just nothing. Jose must be livid about it. I guess trust between Edwood and Mourinho is totally broken now.

This thread is genuinely funny  Most of people blaming the club but how exactly do you know what happened behind the scenes? Maybe we applied for visa 6 months ago and failed to get it. Why do most of you assume we applied for it like 3 days ago? Also, I think the biggest problem if he misses the tour is not the team bonding or training tactics together especially as we are missing like half of team because of world cup. It's commercial. Without Sanchez we don't have any global superstars on tour. Imagine advertising Kohler with Smalling, Darmian and a few kids

These games haven’t been for that reason in a long time. They’re about making money and building the United brand. Sanchez can build his fitness at home, then play in a few friendlies back in Europe. Hopefully in games where the WC players are involved. He’ll be fine. If anything, sitting out this tour will be the perfect end to a much needed summer of R&R.

Sanchez gets denied a visa but somehow Trump gets mentioned. People are obsessed with the bloke.

He’ll be fine, he’ll be at carrington working on his fitness and play in the remaining games outside the US.

Least it will give more of a chance to Gomes and Chong to get game time

Or the issue will be sorted in time.

If somehow Sanchez doesn't get a waiver then surely he could go on your with the u23 who are in Europe right now for their preseason? That's better than training alone at Carrington.

Seems crazy that people are blaming United for this. You can't simply "get it sorted" if it's the law, and if there's a waiver scheme available I'm sure the lawyers of a club like United have done everything to get it done in time. Either that, or United knew, still took its chances with the situation and thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal that Sanchez would miss the USA part of the preseason tour.

There's no way United didn't know and it only came up now imo.

It isn't like the sentencing was a few years ago either. It was a week or two after Sanchez signed for us. The tour in the US was confirmed at the beginning of April so there would have been somewhere between 3-5 months to work on the visa issue. We have no idea how the immigration system would work in this case so the 3-5 months really might not have been enough, just sucks that he'll likely only play in the game against Bayern Munich before the season starts.

Agreed, working for an American company, I know too well that a Visa for someone without a suspended sentence, always has setbacks. You can plan months in advance and still end up panicking close to the move date and have to push it back.

You think Woodward has Vlad Putinesque powers of persuasion to resolve legal issues related to visas via a phone call? This isn't a James Bond movie you know.

Oh no Sanchez is going to miss all those games in the USA where he can build chemistry with Chong, Gomez and Greenwood!

Well if it's not a windup then it's alarming how you can come up with such conclusions.
