Perfect storm.

Jose fighting the board, the players.
Supporters already fed up.
Injuries, key players without a pre season.
Can only hope we grind out results in the first 4 matches.

Otherwise we will be off the pace immediately.
Jose will use the bashing from the media, the frustration surrounding the club and all negativity from the preseason to motivate the players for the two first games. We will trash Leichester and Brighton. Everyone got their hopes up, speaking about how much our attack has improved. Then we will get trashed by Tottenham, and the same thing that happened last season will occur again.

We're playing Bayern with a lot of our players unfit/missing. What kind of wild attacking were you expecting tonight?
Well my post was in reference to the last 3 years. I do expect us to have a go. This was also Bayerns first game back for some of the players. Apart from lukaku pogba Valencia young and to some extent, martial, who are we missing who could change the game? This is 60/70% of our team.

Football, bloody hell.
We were under the cosh because we didn't press them enough when they had the ball, when we did the player was too far away and then they could pass between the lines. When they pressed us we surrendered the ball way too easily also.
Mourinho doesn't play a high press. Counter attacking is a valid tactic, unfortunately we just didn't do it well at all tonight.

Hopefully Leciester is far better with a more recognisable lineup. Pogba and Lukaku are absolutely vital for us.

I'm always too positive when judging United, but really have to call this performance poor, horse sh*t poor.... disjointed, without a plan, we hopefully will improve with the full team back, but we're set up to disappoint. That's not the Manchester United I support. Mou out. It's inconceivable he'll change style, we have the players, our tactics restrict them to looking and producing nothing, this isn't football... One of the main reasons I support United (other than growing up in North Wales in the late 80s surrounded by racist scouse supporting scum) is for love of quality, exciting football. Not happening.

With this current set of players a manager who can galvanise a team to play in a particular style with an intent to score goals could potentially challenge. The players need encouraging and support, Mourinho and his excuses does nothing for these players and you can see this in the way they perform for him.
I think the players are the problem, so we obviously won't agree. If I didn't know what Mourinho had achieved and how his teams have played, I would probably think like you. Some of our players simply don't have what it takes, and we have a long way to go in the transfer market to catch City.

What was we practicing exactly? Was it meaningful for Bayern because they actually decided to play football.
They played better than we did. It happens. Whisper it: they are a better team than we are.

We had one striker on his first game back getting no service and no options on the bench. Thus we didn't play well. We both know you're going to turn this into some sort of anti-Mourinho diatribe because you won't be happy until he's sacked, but it's pre-season and it's not the end of the world.

Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
We just had 3-4 games in US tour. How many more games you need to get this "match fit" before you can go into a game showing your actual worth?
Maybe they are showing their actual worth, I don't know. Pre-season games are never a great indicator of how a team will do, especially this pre-season (so soon after a world cup with players still missing).

Playing games to get "match fit" is something every team in professional football does and has done forever.

We didn't counter at all tonight, we couldn't keep the ball long enough. The line up we started with wouldn't really suggest we were going to counter neither.

Pogba won't play, he'll still be on holiday more than likely, wont be fit neither. Lukaku will have an outside chance, but then he's only done one day training.

That's true. But this style isn't just based on this pre-season.

You came to this conclusion in preseason in a match with almost no first team players? Ok.
Hey buddy! Are you watching the same game as me in which DDG, Darmian, Shaw, Bailly, Lindelof, Pereira, Fred, Herrera, Mata, Rashford and Sanchez started for us?

Would have switched off by now if not for the way that pink dress is hugging Helen Evans’ ass.

Difficult pre season game with Bayern having all their first team available. They suffocated our team today and they suffocated Madrid in the Bearnabeu in CL SF 2nd leg!

We are a Tier 2 European side currently even when we have our full team available. Matic, Pogba and Lukaku are crucial to our team going forward and this game was not a game to judge the Squad.

What's more concerning however is how much more quality and depth Bayern have in their Squad, Alaba or Bernat, Coman or Ribery, Goretzka or Tiago, Muhler or Tolisso, Javi or James Rodriguez where do I stop.

What's even more concerning is how our wage bill of £263M is £35M more than theirs each year and our Manager gets paid £15M a year to serve up inept attacking performances.

I genuinely hope I'm not in the minority when I say this, all United Fans expect at least 1 shot on target in any game, friendly or not. Its not about the players, it can't be, 7 or 8 of our players performed exceptionally well in the WC it just has to be the tactics of 'We mustn't lose at any cost!'

When Jose finally understands that most United fans would rather lose 4-3 playing progressive attacking football rather than win or lose a bore fest 1-0, it might be too late but let's be clear here, he's not solely responsible for giving out all those long fat contracts in the last 5 years to players that wouldn't have made our U21s side in the late 90s and early naughties!

I know, but in the context of this game we aren't in great shape at the moment and we are playing one of the best teams in Europe. We would probably still be pinned back with our first team nevermind most of them missing. Bayern are a very good team, probably better than we are and we didn't play well. It's only pre-season though and I'd rather wait until the window closes and we get everyone back before panicking.

You forgot Matic.

What about the lineup didn't suggest we were looking to counter? Do you think the plan was to boss possession or just to defend for 90 minutes, because I very much doubt it was either of those.

You're probably right but hopefully at least one of them will play.

We are a bunch of individuals who haven't played together. Bayern are a fully formed team, with just one or two missing.

That's the sad truth isn't it. Although players like Shaw, Damian, Lindelof, Rashford, Mata or Pereira shouldn't be starting for us. Herrera neither tbh.
