I don't disagree with any criticism of the press.

But......... They are what they are. They have been that way for at least 20 years. Jose himself is no stranger to both the highs and lows that can come through interaction with them.

For reasons completely beyond Jose's control Utd were going to have a difficult season this year, compared to the last.

Woodward, like it or not, holds the high ground in terms of influence within the club.

So given all of the above, that press conference was utterly disgraceful on his part. Benitez, Pochettino, even Klopp in his first year or two, face the exact same hurdles. There is a skill to maneuvering that disadvantageous position into one where you are the hero in a tragedy and getting the fans behind you.

Absolutely no good can come that conference. For anyone affiliated with Utd. If something is really on his mind- just don't do the press conference, make up an excuse and send someone else out.

Poor.
There was nothing disgraceful about the press conference. The journos were more interested in the s**t talk of Woodward and Pogba and they got replied in the same sense.
He didn't even call them liars or fat man

One of Fergies strength in running this club was always keeping the media in check. This is Mourinhos way. They deserve nothing more. Of course we are not performing and relationships are not as rosey within the club but the media have no right to post consistent bullshit trying to stir the pot.

It’s us vs them. It always has been.
Now, that's the spirit!

It's sad when I see United fans siding with ABUs against our own. We can have our internal squabbles but when we go out there, it's us against them.

Looks like some of the so called fans here, buried their heads in shame when SAF called out the press for blatant lies

I remember everyone used to rave about how LvG showed contempt to the press and was moody...

Now apparently, it makes Mourinho a dick for some...

What the feck is wrong with these people, I don't know.

He started 30mins early. He could have easily answered more diplomatically. He has talked at length in the past, so to change now in this context is going to be perceived as deliberately insulting.

I just hope the team does well on Monday and we take the three points. I also hope we go ahead to shock people this season despite this difficult start. Jose does not deserve this hate. I totally agree the football can be a whole lot better and that's largely on him but besides that, I think he deserves some credit. The next United manager will definitely have a lot less work to do in building a winning team now than two seasons ago.

Yeah maybe but who really cares? I for one am not bothered by how he talks to the press as long as we do it on the pitch in Monday

When he talks in length, people in media dissect each word and create a series of lies. So it makes sense to talk less to the liars.

He's a fecking weirdo. Be nice if he could just act like a normal person for a week.
Right? At least lvg used to be funny. None of this is helping the dressing room atmosphere either. It just feels so petty

It's always troubled me that Jose seems more interested in proving critics wrong than in United.
He's a narcissist Steve. That's what those kinds of personalities do. Always more concerned with how they are personally seen by others.

In any case, I'd rather he barely speaks to them in this way. Less drama, and plus, the press is shite anyways.

If we win this little swerve on the media will look astute, if we lose it'll be thrown at Mourinho, truth is these press conferences are filled with mostly dull or at times baiting questions, we got the injury update so that is the main thing.

The problem really isnt with Jose its with the idiot element in our support that feed and feed off the press. Whenever Jose leaves and the next guy comes in the process will start again.
Fanbase lately is reflection of society's overall lack of civility. We should expect better of ourselves and fellow fans.

He won't be satisfied 'til the press call him the best of all time, Jazzy.

You might be joking, but that's what hurts him. The funny thing is that if he would adapt his methods and embrace the challenge, he would be better off for it.
He's also deeply insecure. A really bad combination!

However, as I said, I'd rather he gives short press conferences like these. Much better for all concerned.

That's all well and good in theory but the evidence of the Brighton performance suggests entirely the opposite is taking place. The events of the summer have bled onto the pitch.

Q: What about Spurs - how impressed are you with them, Mauricio Pochettino and how they go about their business?

JM: I'm not going to comment.

Yeah, sure. Just send an assistant and call in sick.

Maybe he should have said they have won nothing, we are better and also beat them twice last season.

That’s exactly it. For anyone wondering, watch his interview with MUTV where he pretty much answers the exact same questions and you can see night and day difference in his mood. He is giving it to the media and they deserve that shite treatment

Spurs may be the team United are playing next but why would any journalist ask that question about Poch? Seemed like the journo only asked that question to try and prod the bear.

He can say (or not say) anything he likes but the only way that this bullshit negativity is going to end is if we go on a run of wins.

So he should have shown much more maturity and said Woodward and he are at war and say Pogba should shut up and not talk trash to press, else risk his place in the team.
Don't be stupid. Our fans, apparently, want him to lie to them.

The press should be treated like mushrooms. Kept in the dark and fed a bunch of shit.

I miss the days where the managers, players, and executives at the club felt the same way. Use them for useless PR and stfu.

This was probably the best saying I didn't know and have been told at the university, God bless that guy with whom I've had classes for it.

As for the presser I'm delighted, was delighted when LVG was taking shit on them, happy when Mou does it too. Bunch of dogs, they can feck off.

Oh yeah. I imagine if he had a massive grin on his face you'd be baying for his blood for being so happy after such a humiliating defeat. "He doesn't give a shit!"

One of the best things about LVG and Mourinho is how they treat the press with utter contempt, because that's all these brainless hacks deserve.

What you don't do if you have any self respect as a manager is go the Moyes route and invite them round for tea to talk about how you'd love to sign Kroos and were so disappointed not to land Fabregas and Bale.

Hahaha,Moyes was just incredible!SAF always struck the right balance between courting certain sections of the press, cultivating and exploiting them for the clubs benefit and Ofcourse treating them with contempt at times...

I haven't taken a worldwide survey or anything, but the majority of United fans I have spoken with (Cafe members or otherwise) have left me with the impression that they want a new manager.

Would you disagree with that assessment?
Frankly, I am not sure but I do know that the caf does not always reflect the opinions of majority of the United fan base.

Yeah, sure. Just send an assistant and call in sick.
Perhaps he should have said

"Oh I am in awe of them. I watch back to back videos of Spurs play every night to pleasure myself.
Yesterday, I couldn't do it though because I twisted my fingers trying to do the Deli Alli challenge"
