Jose Mourinho's press conference - Burnley(A) | 13:30 BST | Quotes updated in OP

In the current time period? I’m not talking about the past...

If you are, go ahead and prove it to me. There’s certainly nothing world class or top manager about the job he’s done at United so far.

He has 2 cup wins, and one final plus 2nd league place.

Now show me how many managers have better results in last 2 years.

That will come in the way of their agenda. I mean this place is full of idiots who think Jose is in this job merely to satisfy his ego. How do you expect someoone so stupid to go read whole quotes and context before talking shit?

It’s beyond belief that people fail to see football as simply as it is. Cycles, top teams, money, youth. Repeat. We had one of the longest cycles in history, with the best youth, manager and money.

Now that it’s someone else’s turn and the fact they are vastly ahead of us (lots of behind the scenes reasons) they throw toys out of the pram and need someone to blame.

Pretty dumb to ask if he is still a great manager if he doesn’t win a title with us. His resume speaks for itself.

The time when Jose Mourinho performed like a world class manager = the past.

Whatever he's doing now = current period.

So if he wins against Burnley and Guardiola loses at the weekend, does that mean Mourinho takes the trophy of "greatest manager in the current period?"

He'll even get to keep it for the international break...

Exciting times are upon us...

100% agree with this. Was there an update on Dalot? Jones, not that I give a s8it about him, but as a fan it would be nice to have questions about the actual team and game
I remember his last season at Chelsea amid all the shit storm and I saw a clip of a press conference he was doing. Their press officer was on the ball: heading off any provocative questions, ensuring that Jose didn't answer those. He was polite but firm with the press, and kept things moving along. Only questions that he deemed were relevant/safe was the press allowed an answer.

I wonder if behind the scenes our lady might be too friendly with them? I dunno, but she definitely needs to be firmer.

The time when Jose Mourinho performed like a world class manager = the past.

Whatever he's doing now = current period.

So unfortunately, these definitions leave me with questions.
How does a world class manager perform? Do trophies count and/or style?
What would you describe as "now" or "current period"? Last season? The last 3 games?

"(Make) Jose great again"

"United fans are fed up with the disrespect the media is paying to Mourinho, my tactics and my record. Weak and out of control!"

"Wouldn't you love to see the CEO of United, when Martial disrespects me and refuses to run for me, to say 'Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He's fired. He's fired! (instead they offer him a 5 year contract)"

"Despite the constant negative press (which I instigated) Moufefe"

These journos are clowns. I don't think Jose need to remind them about his record. They all need sectioning.

Sometimes I think our press officer isn't firm enough. She seems a nice lady but would it hurt to tell the press beforehand that questions should be on the upcoming fixture and nothing else. Once they start varying off track, cut them off and go to the next question.

In fairness they did before the previous game, but the moron went into a sulk, hardly answering & storming off. Many on here applauded him, bringing our club into disrepute.

Pretty dumb to ask if he is still a great manager if he doesn’t win a title with us. His resume speaks for itself.

Past achievements don't make you great now. Benitez was among the top managers a decade ago. The fact that he won the CL with a non-impressive Liverpool squad in 2005 doesn't make him a top manager now.

OK...This is a great quote

On Spurs fans singing, "sacked in the morning"
Yeah but they didn’t have that song when we beat them at Wembley a couple of months ago. A cup final they had a big dream to go to, a title they had a big dream to win, because they don’t win many and of course they were not singing that.”

Steady.

Build a wall around Old Trafford is next!

The posters comparing him to trump forget trump won the big prize. In order fo José to be trump he would have to win the league playing our dire football , and then threaten to imprison Klopp. I definitely see a resemblnce between Klopp and Hilary also.

Question is , who would be Bernie ?

His personality when it comes to press conferences is so unlikable. So full of himself and every time only talks about his own record and has to remind everyone what he's done. Stuck in the past he is.

Past achievements? Interesting qualifier. Just how long ago is the past? 5 years, 2 years? 1 year?

Well, he was asked the question...

I assume you wouldn't have answered a question about yourself if it was put to you?

Its really sad that Mourinho's interviews are now more entertaining that the matches are. You cant help but look at his interviews and struggle to see a full match.

I’m a Liverpool fan, so I may not be objective, but I think he looks tired to me, and looks to be in need of a break. Sometimes people get burnt out, so I can’t see him being UTD’s Manager at the end of the season.

On a separate note, I’m pretty sure Ancelotti also won in Italy, Spain and England. Just saying..

UTD have a few easy fixture coming up, so I am sure their form will recover.

No I judge him on his current performance and it is shite. This pressure conference is in the league of rants by Keegan and Benitez.

Yeah, you're over exaggerating there by an absolute mile.

It's shite on the pitch, no question about that but, you're being overdramatic with your last point

Just read the full transcript. Dumb question, though the "I am one of the greatest managers in the world" comment is the random bit that doesnt seem like anyone asked about (the way its written, it came after "what does it mean to manage man United?". Anyway, it's not exactly the first time he's done it. It's a pretty regular occurance, Mourinho backing up his old record and playing the blame game.

"Did you read any philosophers? Or information, you never spend time reading for example, Hegel? OK, so, just as an example: Hegal says, the truth is in the whole. It's always in the whole that you find the truth.

WHOA JOSE :D

Nah, he didn't win the league I don't think.

No need to mention you're a Liverpool fan...You'll feel right at home with some on here, going by some of the posts

He never won the league in Spain.

Could have got a foundation for it during the summer but, was deemed not as sturdy as the one we now
By the end of the season there'll be enough bodies under there to firm it up and start building next summer.

He has such a negative and defensive attitude during his press conferences. He was confident during his Chelsea days but somehow in a charming way. He was more relaxed.

If you don’t like the question ignore it or say no comment, it’s not relevant right now, make a joke or something. Nope, he just goes on about his greatness. He always sounds like we expect way too much from the team he has. Kind of depressing.
