He came on and made a difference, not much more you can say. The perfect role for Fellaini IMO.
OK fair enough.I'm not saying he's shiit, I think I cleared that. Props to him for making it to the EPL and the world of professional football, he's got his talents, obviously because he is after all a pro footballer.
Our style suits him and only him I'm afraid.
I never argued that Fella should be a starter anyhow, i want to emphasise that he's just as much an appreciated quality player to us in the role of inpact sub. We simply don't require him in 80% of our games because were just going to roll over the opposition, it's when the going gets tough that we often need him and that he proves that he's still very valuable to us. So he always gets a spot in the NT regardless and played a fair amount of minutes against the stronger opposition in the WC. And i would say he's one of our top 10 best players despite usually not starting.I admit I haven't been watching Belgium NT playing that much, but from what I've seen they're also putting an emphasis on counter attacking, relaying on KBG to make an decisive pass, Dembele to carry the ball through or Hazard to make it happen. Also don't think, could be wrong, Fellaini isn't starter for you guys.
Thats not our experience with Fellaini because we typicly play a dominant possesion game but bring in Fellaini when dominant possesionHere's the thing imo playing Fellaini makes you give up on plays certain way because with him and his limited passing abilities and technique you can't really rely on making anything from the middle because when teams press you, you have a problem of having a man less in the MF. He can't really carry the ball forward and he can't make a pass forward either unless there's no player around him in a 15 metar radius.
Seeing how many times he saved united like that you ought to give him credit for the points he gains as thus and perhaps that really should weigh in far more heavily as how Fellaini is to be regarded regardless of perhaps not being a starter. When you're chasing a goal in last 10 minutes or so and resorting to hoofball his presence can be a positive, but other than that con's outweigh the pro's of having him in the side.
What is it he does exactly? He’s currently our best player. I’ve never been a fan of his but you can’t deny he really puts in the effort and has desire to win, he’s very effective at what he does.
He indeed is. He's my Player of the Month. Throughout this month he has been either MOTM or MOTM contender. He’s currently our best player. I’ve never been a fan of his but you can’t deny he really puts in the effort and has desire to win, he’s very effective at what he does.
Read what @ManUtd1999 put under your reply it sums it up perfectly. He’s actually a very important player for us right now apart from De Gea who is obviously our best player fellaini is our best outfield player right now. What is it he does exactly?
Its not protecting the area in front of defence. And thats been our weakness defensively this season
He's helping the defense with headed clearances, though Smalling already did that well. But this role he's being asked to perform is leaving us exposed on the edge of our box, because he drops into CB vacating the area a DM helps protect the defense. We didnt concede goals in open play last season without him/someone doing this. We're worse than we were last season doing this. What he does? Helping the defense (that gave away 6 goals in 2 matches before Fellaini was brought into the team), creating chances to his teammates through his chest control and head (our two goals against Watford), and actually scoring vital goals. He's that player that can be moved from a very deep role (like third CB) to a very advanced role (2nd striker) in an instant. Not many players can perform both of these tasks as well as he does. Granted, this won't always work, but there is no system that always works.

I tend to agree tbhHe's helping the defense with headed clearances, though Smalling already did that well. He was useless though apart from when we were hoofing it near the end. I get he tries but this is a bad team playing direct football so he is much more comfortable.Seen Fellaini get pissed off on more then one occasion.
There are far more talented players then him messing up, wasting chance because their not trying. At least Fellaini is putting in the effort, probably only one right now
I think this needs to stop. He looked good under LVG during both seasons playing possession football, he's been one of our most consistent performers under Jose no matter how we've played and he featured in a very good Belgium side this summer. He was useless though apart from when we were hoofing it near the end. I get he tries but this is a bad team playing direct football so he is much more comfortable.
I keep seeing comments like this these days. Fellaini is doing fine but of course he isnt the only one trying. Shaw, Smalling and De Gea are working hard too. The most annoying thing about Fellaini are the posters who feel the need to make out he is a one man team when he has a decent performance.Seen Fellaini get pissed off on more then one occasion.

Nah mate, seen plenty of post of yours that have agenda in them. Trying to put word in my mouth, as if i said it a one man team. ClownI keep seeing comments like this these days. ... or the posters who have a hard time saying something positive about him, even when he does well.I keep seeing comments like this these days. Seen many united teams playing bad but managed to put up a fight and grind a result through effort. These just get rolled over by not putting in the basic effortHe was useless though apart from when we were hoofing it near the end. You put the words, I'm not sure about in your mouth, but you expressed them from somewhere. You said hes probably the only one trying. He's not.Nah mate, seen plenty of post of yours that have agenda in them. Trying to put word in my mouth, as if i said it a one man team. Clown
Yep, could not have put it any better.Fellaini cycle:
- comes in couple of games as a super sub,
- scores after few games(his goalscoring record is far from great, even though many would make you think he scores every time he comes on even though he scores about one goal per season)
- everyone lauds him as a hero saying he should be starting.
- Starts next game, we usually put terrible display with people defending him that he was being played out of position(despite no one actually knowing his best position)
- people start mentioning Moyes and LvG for some reason, whether to defend Fellaini or criticise him
- back on the bench.
Rinse and repeat.
He's normally quite good at filling specific roles. Whether it's offensively or defensively, if you need something done, an opposition player looked after, or a weakness protected - he's your man.Does anyone know what he actually does for us? Completely anonymous.
