So he can only play when we are losing?
How about the Europa League when he started and Ajax could not get near him?
How about other games he has started and we have won?

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
Fellaini is good coming of the bench but thats about it. Against very technical midfields he isnt going to be of much use. Against chelsea he must not start or else they will just pass the ball around us. We need to battle them technically and so will need a trio of Pogba, fred and matic. Mourinho needs to get this right next week and bring him of the bench to defend crosses when we are winning by 1 with 20 mintes left.
Fellaini is fine when given a specific role to play. Whether that is extra defensively (like the two matches where he almost played as a central defender) or extra offensively. I'm hoping he's used in that defensive role against Chelsea.

It's when he's just played in a normal central midfield role where he doesn't bring anywhere near enough to the table.

I prefer Fellaini to Matic though I wouldn't play the two personally. Matric is quite slow.

Don't know how that can sound weird to you? He doesn't give us the best chances of winning he gives us another style of play which we opt for when losing. Our best team does not include fellaini.
You mean he offers another style that the team might opt for when aerial dominance, direct play and/or extra physicallity is deemed opportune. It's very dependant on the opponent but there are certaintly teams that will find Fellaini unplayable.

Japan for example. Great national team that is going towards the top, no wonder in a country of 125 million people where football is rising fast in poppularity. Just 2 days ago they beat Uruguay in a spectacular 4-3 win. Japan has a lot of maneuverable and technical players but otoh they have one of the shortest teams in the world, put Japan against Sweden and the difference in height will be noticable. The 3 goals they ate from Uruguay underlined their aerial weakness even if they managed to score more eventually trough fast paced technical play. We Brought Fellaini in vs Japan as Belgium in the WC as the japanese were really surprisingly tough opponents and he easily enough added a goal, instant headache to those short lads kinda should have started him from the beginning really in that game. Ill add the goal again just for good measure, try to spot the tree popping up over those underreaching Japanese heads.

And don't get me wrong, Japan is a class team.

If only Japan were in the PL, there might be a case for playing him for 20 mins.

The lowest ranked teams in terms of height in the PL are Manchester city, Bournemouth, Everton, cardiff and Liverpool. United is the 5th tallest in the league. Afcourse thats just general, in specific positions that might be different. More specificly Japan has an average height of 178.3 cm, city 179.7 and united 183.5 Whereas Watford is the tallest at 185.4

Logic i guess would dictate to use Fellaini in a more defensive function against Watford to vacuum aerial balls out of the box, and in a more offensive role against city or Liverpool and then possibly as sub, just to give a few example's. He might be considered as starter against the weaker teams of lower height.

We still have to take into account the specific players that are part of the defense as they might individually not lack in size, however the lack in height is often with the fullback in these cases. More balls to the far post then.

Things is, imho Fellaini can easily be usefull even against top teams if the situation calls for it. He's beyond class ranking imho in that he's purely a situational weapon rather than he would have a certain level at which he would fit.

I have watched him many, many times and have wondered regularly how someone that offers so little could have played so many games. Very occasionally he will get his head on a cross and that seems to justify to many the number of games that he is totally ineffective in.

He tries hard and always gives his best and that's as much positive as I can muster

Missed him today. Would have closed the show 100%.
Chelsea started to hoof the ball towards the end, and he was missed in these types of situations.

I hope that he will feature against Juve.

The second goal is thanks to him. The amount of disturbance he brings in set pieces for defenders is ridiculous.

He's clearly a huge asset for us in our current state. It may not be pretty, but he has the ability to completely change the shape of a game.

I think Fellani should be our number 9, play him centre forward and get the others to play off him. It's working every time he plays the more advanced forward. Chaps wins every header up there.

He's probably our most consistent outfield player. He simply MUST start against City.

He changed the game again.
They even didn't know what to do with him and couldn't handle him at all.
We can see why José likes him.

Is he the most physically imposing player in the world?:lol: He absolutely dominated Chiellini for the winner. I'm probably exaggerating, but the guy is just so powerful.

No, I actually think he might be, albeit in an extremely unorthodox way. No single defender or opposition player ever looks comfortable when facing him on set pieces or long balls. I still remember him coming on in the Super Cup against Madrid and Ramos and Varane had no idea at all what to do with him.

When we use him as an impact sub he's an extremely useful squad player.

Yeah, he's a real specialist. When a game needs a huge physical presence there's really nobody better. Even when he's the destroyer in midfield we look far more solid.

He is world class in the air and using his chest and body to hold the ball up. Unplayable.
We started going direct to him and he won everything and gave it to the forwards closer to their goal.
Can be brilliant on his day and hope he carries the end of the juve game into the derby.

He got his head to it I think. It was a great ball by young and Fellaini was way too strong in the box. Full credit to both the players.

Another great performance from the big man. Love him or loathe him, but he has come a long way since he was booed against Valencia in 2014.

He always created problems for us when he was at Everton.
Ajax could not get near to him in the Europa Final.
When used properly he is very difficult to handle.
I remember Gerrard saying he hates playing against Fellain.

He can create panic in even the best of cbs in the world, the impact up front is clearly visible. When used right he is really a weapon.

Irony is there is no plan A to score other than that in crunch matches.

We had a Plan A last night we just couldn't pull it off, surely what we were trying to do was evident to everyone?

It's important to have options to change a game when your opponent nullifies you, Fellaini offers that disruption.
