Is it just me or does anyone else hate when the ball goes to Young? It seems all he does is hoof the ball to the striker and we end up losing the ball because we have shit strikers. He did that a lot more when Lukaku came on.

Really comfortable for a long while, so much so I started reading a forum.
Then all of a sudden a ridiculous goal conceded, and we have to really scrape the win out.

Still. A win, and those can't be sniffed at right now.

We were decent at times, but why bring Lukaku on at all if no injuries? Maybe Rashford wouldnt have scored if stopped on, but its nailed on Lukaku wont. Great goal by Martial and Pogba played ok until he lost it in midfield for the goal. Lindelof still has errors, but is playing a lot better now hes been given a run. Still cant see top 4 finish. Its also a bittersweet pill as if we did do it, the glazers wouldnt bother sacking Mourinho.

Tony's curling first time finish from outside the area was sumptuous......not so much his epic one on one fail!!

I think Young is one of the few players who shows real fight and desire for the team. He was never this angry and passionate in his winger days, but as a senior player seems to have ramped it up.

Oh for a few more showing that. Even our "tough" players like Smalling and Matic should be are nice guys

Far more enjoyable than usual. Faster, more intensity but man we make it easy for the opposition. Chances for the away side should be rare, not gifted to them every 5 minutes. Very good from Pog and Martial apart from the two glaring mistakes.

Looked better going forward perhaps but got a joke penalty too, imo.

Defence isn't great is it?

Anything better than 6th looks optimistic.

Good win and a solid performance, especially from Pogba, Martial, Fred. Change Matic for Herrera and we would look even better imo.

I thought we were never really comfortable. Everton seemed more dangerous to me than people here seem to have thought, and while their shooting was erratic, I thought they could have grabbed a point and it would not have been too undeserved. Agree, we let them back in with the peno but even before that I was anxious when they went forward.

Still we won, at times looked quick and attack-minded, so I'm holding onto the positives given how we let a win get away from us at the death last week. Not sure what to make of Lukaku - he's clearly not sharp but I suspect that will come back. No, he'll never have the first touch of Berba but he will score again. Pogba, I don't know...that penalty approach makes me fear the worst, and then the sloppy passing that comes in a cluster at some point is disturbing but maybe this is the price of having a creator like him. Still, better today all round than we have been, and Lindelof getting used to the pace and physicality of the league is a bonus.

We're starting to regain some kind of form. Still shakey at the back from problems we create ourselves, but performance wise we've been good in the last three games. Martial is stepping it up. If he finds consistency he could have his breakthrough season (20+ goals). The problem I see is in midfield. Matic looks old all of a sudden and Pogba still has that tendency to overdo things which should be simple instead of convoluted. Need a player to keep things ticking over and do the simple things without error. That won't be Matic (long term) or Pogba (except for France, weirdly).

Jose almost said "he has the balls to take the penalties" lol and remembered that he is live on TV and said "courage" instead

There is nothing else we can do as we have no good right sided attacker. Hopefully Dalot can come in and do well.

He isn’t the best technically but his pace means he often cuts off counter attacks , I like him.

It's from the manager. His subs invite the pressure. Every game ends up being a struggle when it doesn't have to be. Same with Leicester game.
Bore off man.

Subs were fine, striker for a striker. That was the only sub before it went 2-1, we then had 2 amazing chances to make it 3-1.

Not everything is the manager’s fault.

I agree with that ofcourse. But it's frustrating to see him always go for the hoof option when he has the ball instead of playing it on the ground like he did at the end which Lukaku couldn't reach.

Played well. Martial was brilliant.
Rashford wasn't great, but when Lukaku came on, it got worse and our playing style went to pot.
Lukaku also missed an easy header - couldn't get it on target.
I think that we play better without Lukaku, even when he is replaced by Rashford who doesn't play well.
I think we play Bournemouth next week, so I am looking forward to how we do against them. If Lukaku starts that match, we probably won't be so powerful in attack.

Good win for Man. United in the end. Nice to see the world dosen't end when Lukaku dosen't start, he was hopeless when he came on.

Martial is in superb form. You must indulge him and stop asking him to track back all the time.

Big test the three away games coming up though. Could easily be three defeats seeing as the back 4 was poor again today and Bournemouth will attack you with pace.
How was Lindelöf poor? he's starting to show some form, composed defending and starting to bring the ball out from the back, to say he was poor really is unfair.

Souness “the press doesn’t criticise players these days” ... right...
Souness knows a lot about football management. He's probably Manchester United's third most successful manager after SAF and Busby.

lukaku is not running. keep asking for passes but static in movement. Always stay out of the box when ball crossing into it. No runs into channels, no control on the ball. No speed. Pretty clear to say he ruins our control of the match. Rashford shouldn’t be substituted. Mou big mistake again.

Said Lukaku was poor if you read again and the back 4 unit still looks dodgy when put under pressure.

Pogba was sprinting to press Everton players in the 90th minute, while Lukaku just strolled towards them after coming on as a substitute.
Pogba had to make up for his brain fart, but yeah no urgency from Lukaku.

Was at the game and itis easy to see the class of pogba and his work rate.

Worst player for me was shaw, postionally he was dire and.offered nothing going forward.

Lukaku was dreadful when he came on

Lukaku being on means more long balls and more hoofing which means we can't keep the possession. The attack was fine in that period. No need to change.
Mata off for Herrera is strange. It should've been Matic off.
We got the chances to finish the game but us hanging on for dear life after being in a position of control is nothing new. The scoreline flatters them.

Played well, but it could have been so much easier should have or could have won 3 4-1 good display but again players missed chances and one mistake could have cost us, it's not all jose Lukaku's free hearder didn't even make the keeper work was terrible, martial right at the end hesitated. Smalling's mistake stand up right and show him down the line.

But overall good performance but those missed chances and mistakes have to be worked on otherwise we may not be so lucky and we need to keep winning cannot afford to fall further behind.

Not sure if it was just Everton not turning up or our merit but that was the most comfortable I've been in a while playing Everton.

Until Pogba had to be Pogba and Smalling wouldn't let him steal the show.

Good to see Martial keeping it up and Pogba sans the brainfart. Mata should get more credit, makes us far more fluid. Say what you will about his pace, but he is far and away our most intelligent player. Kudos to Lindelof as well.

Overall, good signs.

Madrid lose 5 1, we get 3 points ... good day. Jose could be one step closer to the Madrid job and we are 5ish points from 4th. Martial was excellent, Rashford should of made it 3, lukaku should of also made it 3, he was not awful when he came on but we stopped being direct and the pace slowed massively.

No, you said the back four was poor again today.
Lindelöf was not.
Chap, I wasn't specifically picking on Lindelof tbh. Just saying when Everton broke they were creating chances (their composure was poor).

Lindelof's not really a player I have a huge opinion on either way but does need experience solid partner next to him like he has for Sweden to play really well.
