What a smash and grab. I fear for our attack if martial is ever unavailable.

Great win but Juve threw the game away with all their misses.

Yeah, my point was that the ones praising this as a Mourinho masterclass and saying we'll do the same at Emptihad are fooling themselves. If we play the same this weekend we'll lose, we can't always rely on luck and poor finishing while parking the bus for 80 minutes and 25 shots.
You don't understand. We will definitely concede a goal atleast against these teams because our defense can't keep a clean sheet. But if Fellaini starts in place of Matic, I bet the likes of Juve and City wouldn't have so many shots on target.

Mourinho set us up well and had to make do with the absence of Fellaini, which compromised his defensive structure and let to Juve dominating a bit. It was a Mourinho Masterclass for sure.

I dont know what changed but Mourinho seems to have got the squad playing for him or at least pride. Even if we didnt play anything special we worked hard and took our changes when they came. Also our luck seems to have changed a bit. Great result, Mourinho deserves some credit here to.

I can understand that people may not be happy with Jose in charge (I have been one of them) or with the display for parts of the game yesterday, but how can one not enjoy this victory? Did the same people feel disheartened when Solksjaer bundled one over the line in '99 because Bayern were the better team?

Cheer up ffs. My heart was racing the last 4 mins of added time. Haven't felt like that in a while. Pure adrenaline stuff. Still grinning.

Looking at it, the actual shot is much quicker following the dummy than you often see, which suggests practice on timing... I think that there may have been some work on angles of running and the effect on predictabil8ty and visibility from the keepers perspective.
Yes. I was surprised how fast Mata took it almost immediately after Young stepped over the ball
Definitely the strategy was to take the shot asap Young runs over the ball. The dummy from Ashley made Schezny take a slight step to his left and that's exactly when Mata took the shot, which was the difference between a great save and a great goal.

Delighted with the win. We just need to win the next game vs Young Boys and we'll most certainly be through.

Still there's plenty to be desired both defensively and offensively, as we rode our luck for the bigger parts of the second half. Great save from De Gea, the bar from Dybala and that sitter from Cuadrado. Those were all due to poor defending, especially Dybala's chance. You don't let a player of his mold with that much space and no pressure in our box.
Offensively - we could be better, we should be asking more questions.
Tactical aspect - I think we played a fairly good first half and we did put a fight, stuck to the plan. Game could've gone either way had they been more prolific in front of goal.

Really happy for the team, hope to string more positive results, as I can see performances are improving. Game at City is pivotal for the next chapter of the season.

How we didn't lose this 10-0 is beyond me. Delighted for the win but we were absolutely terrible.

No we weren't. Juve are an excellent team and their movement will put lots of big teams under pressure. They did have some nice chances but we were hanging in there. You can sway it was a smash and grab but we wre definitely not terrible. We actually were able to control possession much more than I thought we would.

there are a lot of stupid fans in this forum celebrating the win. No doubt a win is a win. but do these guys see how bad we played?

Lingard in attacking midfield again? Matic continued his poor poor form and not being substituted? What an awful 80 minutes for Man Utd until funny Allegri used 5 centre backs and gave up midfield control that caused their game.

No fantasy. Again another game ruined by stupidity of both managers. You dare to watch these nights after nights ?

He is terrible at one on ones, but decent when he doesn’t have time to thin too much. We need RVN to coach him on one on ones. He needs to learn to be ruthless. It’s mental issue plus control.
Honestly, he's terrible when he's rushed too.

United played bad in the home fixture against Juve, even if Pogba hit the post and off Szcezney.

Matic had a solid game and was better after his yellow card. Allegri did the same sub of Barzagli during the home fixture too and it worked a treat.

Yes, United rode their luck against a CL favorite but the performance in an away fixture in the CL against the Italian champions was very good. Juve weren't clinical against a good side and got punished.

Good teams punish teams who don't put them away. Tonight was a good performance coupled with an amazing result.

What a night. Lovely stuff. Thanks for that.

That being said our perfomance was again worrying.
Juve are nowhere near that great as some here are saying. We made them look much better than they are by giving them so much time and space.
Our defense is a mess quite often. Our midfield is not really clicking and it was surprisingly weak given we had 2 defensive midfielders + Pogba.
And our attacking play is pretty much forgettable. On one hand this was because Juve were much more consequent at the back but Alexis and Lingard did not offer one good idea or dribbling.
The only positive attacks came from Martial (in combination with Pogba and Rashford).

Their joy comes from us losing. Bizarre.

Somewhere they can't find me.
Went to bed after the Ronaldo goal. Woke up a bit later to find the 'Jose after the Juve game' thread thinking what fresh hell he has brought upon us now. Couldn't believe at first that we pulled it off. Fair play to the players for hanging in there and pulling a commendable away win. Even if it was a smash and grab. And to Mourinho too. Now can face the derby week with a bit of positivity.

Still buzzing. Feels like we're back in the big time. Best win since Fergie left.

Juventus had more chance but they mainly came in two short periods. The rest of the game we were comfortable and played well.

Starting to really like the look of Lindelof.

Just woke up with a bit of a hang over, you know, like the ones I had after every win, it's the first game in a long time I've really celebrated, fair play we rode our luck, but was'nt that the case in 99 ?

Which game were you watching?
We played against one of the best teams in Europe. They did everthing right except scoring the goals and in the end they count. We saw a different Manchester United, well structured, well organised and with a lot of guts, but a few players couldn't cope with it long enough. Juve scored a world goal and we fought back and José did the rest.

City, Spurs, Liverpool even Chelsea would turn this Juventus team over. They're a very good side but with the way some of our fans were talking you'd have thought we were playing prime Barcelona of 2011.
Christ man.

Napoli defeated Liverpool and Inter defeated Spurs.

United fans being called stupid for celebrating a win. Oh the times.

Oh and downplaying how strong Juve is. From one of the contenders of CL to a team everybody would turn over.

I called the result before the match. Even nearly got the scorers too. Breaking the Juve record, Juve fans .hearts and spoiling Ronaldo's appearance was sooooo sweet! .People thought we were going to get hammered over both games but we didn't.

Don't know why people can say we were terrib!le? I thought we played really well.

It's because many fans cannot separate things. Hating Mourinho doesn't mean you cannot appreciate the win last night. Just like the win last night doesn't mean we are a great side.
Beating an Italian side away from home is a great accomplishment, however it was done. It needs to be appreciated for what it is without exagerrating.

Potato Po-ta-to. Cuadrado's open goal, Dybala's shot hitting the bar, Khedira hitting the post, Pjanic big miss in the area and his long drive from 40 yards. That's five occasions where they hit the woodwork or was milimetres from it. And that's just counting big misses from the top of my head. Juve had 23 fecking shots.

Wtf are you on about?
I like how in this post you not only move the goalposts regarding your original claim, but then also move the goalposts again with your millimetres point.

Juve had three efforts on target and so did United. Rashford also had a chance for a third which was as clear as any Juve chance. He also had a turn and shoot which was closer to goal than Cuadrado's effort. Then there was the ball martial put across the six yard box which they scrambled away and the Sanchez chance in the first half.

Oh and the two goals we actually scored.

So sorry that United make you sad when they win. I hope you can find happiness elsewhere in life.

Similarities with 1999 Champions League final against Bayern.

United hardly got going in the game and survived some close scares in the second half, with Juve also twice hitting the bar. With all hope appearing to be lost two substitutes made a difference and won the game for United.

Is this the same team which played against Juventus at Old Trafford? If we can beat City this weekend, then this team might have just turned the corner and ready to challenge for the league.

Bit of a smash and grab. We were definitely better then we were at home, though.

From the start of the game, we pressed up the pitch, and at times, won the ball high up the pitch.

We kept the ball pretty decent at times, and created good openings, but we didn't really threaten.

Think we responded well, having gone a goal down. Again, created some good moments, but never really looked like scoring.

Thankfully, two moments of magic won us the game. Mata's free kick and Young's delivery.

Great win and should give us plenty of confidence going into the next game.
Ashley was getting slammed the whole game, then pulls out that beautiful cross right at the end.
