Director of football. I still don't understand the point of one personally but I am a self professed relic.

If we are going that way, what about Les Read? I hear he did incredible things with Southampton and certainly knows his football.

But again, I don't see the use of a DOF.

Sure Real Madrid won the UCL three times with questionable refereeing, apparent drug use, one of the best footballers ever, and two more managerial changes. That doesnt mean it'll happen to us, also the fall back from that you can see at madrid now
Dont even know where to start with this post. Its a mess.

And Real have won 4 UCLs since Jose left.

It's the best option though. If we sign up a full time manager and they're a bit shit here, we're stuck needing to sack another manager.
In this instance yes, what i'm hoping for is the board have already got someone in place but that they can't join until summer for whatever reason. Probably giving the board a wee big too much credit though.

I haven't suggested that Spurs are the most attractive club to manage in world, so why you feel the need to suggest otherwise is beyond me.

I have suggested that currently, for Pochettino, we're a lot more attractive than United.
Things can change very quickly in football.

I don't think we can pull this off but I wouldn't rule it out completely. Pogba joined us for a record fee when we were playing Europa. Neymar left Barca for PSG.

I wouldn't look into it much though

With Simeone we will probably go even more defensive, if that’s possible, but I absolutely adore seeing him on the touchline. And no, him and Klopp are different, he doesn’t have a punchable face.

However, it will be a terrible appointment. He strives as the underdog, we don’t want that anymore. Plus, that kinda romantic bond with Atleti will be broken, which I don’t want to happen.
Thats why he wont manage us, he has no bond with United. His methods work amongst other things that he has a bond with the club he manages from his past and can speak the language perfectly. I dont think he would be comfortable in England any time soon.

Right this minute Spurs are a better team yes, of course.

But if you were to say who is more likely to win the PL in the next 5 years? It would be United. We can outspend you and we can attract better players. Long term United is a more attractive prospect for a manager.

Agreed I do hope we have someone lined up already.

Tell you what. People questioned if he would do anything despite this image on Sunday.

Quite significant it being Sir Bobby beside him, given the reports that he doesn't like Mourinho.

@K2K Mate have you seen Madrid's and Chelsea's transfer policy. They go through talent like mad, any idea that they let players rule the team is nonsensical really, they are just as harsh with players as with their manager. Our board on the other hand hold on to dross for ages.

I don't drink alcohol, otherwise I would go on the biggest bender today. Need to find some other way to celebrate.

It's all about the money. If we wanted him, we'd be stupid enough to pay whatever he wanted.

More so, he clearly cares. Questioning that was always ridiculous. He wouldn't have that job if he didn't have some interest in our club doing well.
Hopefully SAF, Sir Bobby help choose the next one. Moyesey was a mistake. They won't do it again

Three managers in five years. We're a fecking mess. There is no celebration here. We don't know what we're doing.

You may have a point there because it's the team he's built and got it near the top.

But for how long though?

Pochettino is the best option, proved he can build, got contacts and knowledge to market, plays entertaining and is a steady guy.

The real issue is Woodward needs to stop hiring managers that dont fit into the glazers plans. LVG wanted players like Hummels, Strootman, Muller and Neymar. However, he was pisspoor with the squad he had. Jose did great with the disjointed squad he was given. However, now he wanted to complete it with signings like Alderweireld, Perisic and Mandzukic but the board failed to back him. All because of resale value. They already suck the club dry and now they are worried about resale value. The real issue is hiring the manager that fits with the new plan 'buying a developing younger players'. The board will be happy with top 4 and investing into young players. Therefore, either we need an unlikely change of direction or we need a manager to fit with that custom such as Jardim. That does not make Jose 'past it'.
This is all absolutely true and the nub of the problem - but Jose was a #fail even so

I like Laurent Blanc. United legend and always did a good job when playing for us.

That's a lie, but I'm in a good mood today.

Imagine the laughter if we do appoint Conte. Oh dear god... Talking about being a laughing stock.

I wonder when Jose will have his first say about his sacking and time I’ll with us. Will he slate the club? Throw the club under the bus?
It’s Jose. Of course he will.

It won't be Simeone, I am certain of that. It'll be like jumping from the frying pan to the fire.

Not that he's a bad coach, but I think we're all fed up of defend first attack later attitudes.

Let's throw the kitchen sink at opponents, if we lose then fair enough. i'd rather lose trying than giving up before we start.

Where is the celebration thread? Can't see any standalone thread for this? Bizarre.

I would bring in Wenger until the end of the season.

Next manager has to be attacking. No conte or Simone. Christ on a bike if we sign Conte or Simone i have going to have a stroke.

I dont think we will get Poch. Would love if we did. I would keep an eye on Favre of Dortmund.
