They should be.

It seemed it wasn't even remotely possible that we would catch them after the Liverpool game and now it down to 2 points.
And to think by next week we could very well get into the top 4, Santa Claus must be real..

Clawed back an 11 point gap with Arsenal in less than two months.
Not just us tbf, you’ve caught up on Chelsea as well..

But I’ve said it before, that squad of yours should never have been where it was. Jose lost his way, and Utd. suffered for it.

Bit like the old days around here at the moment though, lot of celebrating climbing above Arsenal..:D

Great month ahead, with some though games ahead for Chelsea and United. It's probably gonna be decisive.

Actually I took a better look of previous seasons and it is not looking that good .

It seems we will need 75 points or more , which is 9 wins and some draws from next 13 games .

We just need to get more points than Chelsea and Arsenal irrespective of last seasons and we're currently ahead of Arsenal and 2 points below Chelsea. That what matters.

The games against Chelsea at home and Arsenal away will decide it.

There's a big chance that chelsea loses points next week against city, and there's a good chance that we do as well against one of (if not both) city and liverpool. so the points gained/lost cancel their selves out.

If we win against chelsea at home, we'll definitly be above them at the end.

And we will have to win against Arsenal to finish above them, as they have easier fixtures than us (see Damien's post below).

Chelsea:
Man City (a)
Spurs (h)
Liverpool (a)
Man Utd (a)

Arsenal:
Spurs (a)
Man Utd (h)

Man Utd:
Liverpool (h)
Arsenal (a)
Man City (h)
Chelsea (h)
.

Arsenal will lose at Leicester and Wolves let alone the big boys.

Chelsea worry me think they can creep over the line.

Arse will finish 6th.

Why have City had their game moved to Wednesday, apparently due to league cup final but our game Chelsea / Brighton game doesn't have a date yet? Seems odd.

I have been surprised Spurs picking up so many points with injuries. Guess Poch is very motivated for the league as the money men are counting on Champions league football to pay for the stadium, guessing if they didn't get it would be a major financial problem and they are playing for their lives due to that.

Have to say not a big fan of qualifying for the CL just to make up the numbers and mainly for the "money men", when got almost no chance of winning it. Would rather be in the Europa and get to a final / ideally win it.

We are obviously not going to go unbeaten indefinitely. So we must first make sure we are ahead of Chelsea by a point or so -- that would require us to beat Fulham and hope Chelsea lose to City. Then, even if we lose, we won't be behind them by more than 2-3 points, and we need to keep this up for the rest of the season.

In essence, we need to overtake Chelsea by atleast a point before dropping points again, or we could well find ourselves 5-6 points adrift which may make this difficult in the final stretch.

The fact that we have caught the chasing pack so quickly after ousting Jose is a testament to both the players and the back room staff. You can argue that we've had it 'easy' but I'd say we're about 4 points better off than the most optimistic of us could've hoped for.

Beating Spurs and Leicester has softened the draw with Burnley for me, granted Chelsea and Arsenal have helped out by being poor over the last 8 games. I thought Spurs would've collapsed but they've held it together and will probably take third.

Hopefully we'll take the points at Fulham and City beat Chelsea putting us into 4th, from there we'll have to see what happens hopefully we can pull away but I imagine that we'll see a lot of toing and froing.

Yeah feck them. Annoying bottlers that didn't quite bottle it this time.
Oi give them a chance, the hard part's only just arrived. Beating Leicester won't be easy, Dortmund will probably ruin their confidence, then you've got Burnley away which they should win but it'll be hard enough without Kane, after which you've got Chelsea and Arsenal. This is where it gets interesting.

Really? You can't beat the feeling of a huge European night against the Elite teams.

We've been absolute shite the past 5 years and missed out on a lot of European football but even losing to Madrid in 13 and Bayern in 14 when we should've beat them was a beautiful clash over two legs.

That time of year it seems, we got a tough schedule as well although over a slightly longer time frame.

PL: Leicester (h)
CL: Dortmund (h)
PL: Burnley (a)
PL Chelsea (a)
PL: Arsenal (h)
CL: Dortmund (a)

I remember when these top 4 race threads were effectively just an “Arsenal or Spurs?” thread.

It’s embarrasing that we are constantly linked to this now.

We’re Manchester United ffs. Just get the 4th spot easily as piss and then next season let’s title challenge for once!

Don't get me wrong, of course I want them to do it since it goes in our favor. But they are annoying in snicking wins for a couple of years now, which of course testifies that they are a very solid team nonetheless.

We've probably got the toughest games to come but if Chelsea (and Arsenal) go far in Europa that's bound to have an affect on league form, plus there's the added complication of the League Cup final for Chelsea. The results of next week's fixtures will have a big say but I quite fancy our chances.

At least you guys have some team named Malmo sandwiched between your other big games, We have PSG instead followed by games against you guys and Liverpool.

I don't think it's that bad. If you can beat Malmo away, you won't have to play your absolute best first team in the return leg. I also think both Chelsea and United will make a few changes in the FA Cup tie.

Its a lot of pressure and some really strong teams. Worst case scenario, within 18 days of it starting we could be out of all 3 cups and out of the top 4 too. Obviously if we can pull it off, then it could be a fecking amazing couple of weeks, but we're so inconsistent recently, that I'm not exactly that hopefully. Knowing us we'll beat City in the league, get fecked by Malmo, win the LC, and then get fecked by Spurs.

It's embarrassing how low we were allowed to sink yet again under the poisonous one, had he been rightly sacked after Sevilla, we could have mounted a challenge without a doubt. We need to start behaving like a big club and cut out the fecking around when we're getting dragged through the mud.

While there was a lot wrong about the Seville game it wasn't worthy of sacking a manager over. Can you imagine the public backlash for sacking a manager because of a UCL exit? Not least one they gave a new contract to a month or so before said exit. Whether we like it or not, whether we saw the writing on the wall or not, the club had to give Mourinho the start of this season.

Nowhere to really put this but is there an international week in March?
If we lose v Chelsea and City progress in the FA cup then we will have twenty days between Arsenal away and our next game v Watford at home.

I said this before and I stick by it. Chelsea needed to replace the donkey and they'll make top 4. Fat man scored a brace that the Italian Welbeck would never score, a striker that actually has cojones and isn't a baby.

"Italian Welbeck" (even though he is Spanish) scored a hattrick against Stoke last season  Scoring a brace against one of the worst teams in PL history is not anything special.

Yeah, I would be confident of a Top 4 place if they still had Morata/Giroud to pick from. Higuain knows how to score goals, he'll dispatch the easier sides.

We simply have to beat them at OT to stand a chance.
