Remember that photo from the training camp? Ole regaling Martial, Rashford and Lingard with tales of United past, the lads faces aglow with enthusiasm? They were some happy times.
*few weeks later*

Ole: "Maybe work a bit harder out there? Score a few more goals?"

Martial: *silent glare*

Some fans might not used to a winger not having decent defensive ability, but workrate was never a problem. The guy was never stop attacking when we gained possession. Training though, even SAF said that he went extra mile than the required training regime.

Young Beckham was again hard worker with heart. Fan favorite and SAF complimented on his hard work and attitude.

And Giggs got abused? It's reaching. Him being inconsisent and some people moaned doesn't stop his name being sung during games in those years. Martial doesn't do enough to even get his chant started most of the time in comparison...

You don't have short memories, but it's filled with delusions.
So you're saying there was criticism of them in the past? Which was my only point, by the way.

Edit: those criticisms were also pretty much the same as the ones being levelled at Martial.

Misleading stat, the conversion is a nice one but I'll bet he has far less shots taken than the others trailing him.

Criticism = abuse?

Every criticism is not warranted? And every criticism is of the same categories? For example, Mata doesn't look a United player under SAF, is different than Ronaldo overdoes where his workrate should be used better by better game understanding. Replace the name.

Edit: Your edit is bs hence myinitial response. Martial has been "consistent" to show lack of effort. The opposite other 3. Workrate never was a talking point of the others.

All I'm saying is that young attackers always get the same criticism, e.g. lazy, inconsistent. That doesn't mean that the criticism is correct. Yes, Martial has been in bad form. But that doesn't mean we should sell him.

But he didn't 'run' right?
He’s a gunslinger, no doubting it.

That doesn’t deny his general footballing game is stifled. He really doesn’t run. Seems happy to coast by games.

That's bs, as Iput in the edit part.

Not every inconsistency level is the same. Ronaldo had Nani level of decision making. Everything else was spot on. Self motivation level inconsistent is an entirely different problem, which can never be improved aka not a born winner.

You're having an absolute howler here. If you think Ronaldo wasn't inconsistent until about 2005-2006, I don't know what to say.

Nice try, ignore the point and make it something else. Better leave this discussion here if you don't read.

Just on your edit, I'm not sure if you've just forgotten, or if you're just making things up. But there was plenty of criticism of Ronaldo when it came to work rate. People ever wanted him sold if I remember correctly.

You are the one making thing up.

People wanted him sold re Rooney WC incident.

You're trying to make up things by completely 2 different points.

I see no point in continuing this discussion, you seem a little deranged.

Rumours circulating that Solskjær and Martial have had a bust up and Solskjær wants him gone in the summer. Also told him he can go apparently.

Take these with a pinch of salt if you will, not sure of the reliability of either of these but reports are reports.

Metro are running a story on the bust up: https://metro.co.uk/2019/05/06/furi...ester-united-forward-anthony-martial-9422030/

Couple that with the reports from in the camp that Solskjær gave Martial the hairdryer treatment in front of the squad after the 'warm-up' incident the other week.

Happened to stumble upon this bloke as well, bit of a self-indulgent nob but seems to know quite a bit about the situation. Again, take it with a pinch of salt if you want to:

Yeah. Go on your stupid argument.

I read the other post too. You're being generous with posts after your supposed leave of the discussion posts ago.

You not think that had Martial been given the same amount of starts up front that rashford has had since Ole took over that he would have scored more?

One of my favourite goals and to me shows the way he should be played more & possibly at a different club- as a player that plays more centrally, a player that attempts to find pockets of space that have opened up in deeper situations and initiates an attack with the ball at his feet.

Made a good run there when he was more the early part of the build up of the attack than merely being the last person of the attack with the need for him to make his runs, time it, usually having to dribble past a defender and finishing it on his strong but almost one sided foot.

Needs to improve his defensive gameplay like the rest of our team like Pogba & Lukaku but I also think his game can be improved. Play him in the centre as a false 9 that puts direct pressure on the CB's than having to drop deep to help shaw - whilst also having to think about leaving the CB's alone and to play a bit deeper in a retracted area to get others in to play.

Did he watch that Liverpool - Barca games, and thinking.. look at these peasants running around like maniac. They don't know that having "the best conversion rate" is the most important.

Some still hanging on conversion rate and these excuses for his non existence of movement . Hell.

Just watching yesterday game is enough to spot the difference between us and Liverpool. Their players can't stop running, pressing and moving as they care for the shirt while we have a bunch of talented heavy paid clowns who just want to gather their salary per week before fecking off.

Maybe if he got himself into more positions to score goals, by actually moving and making runs....

I REALLY hope someone replied with the respective number of assists over the same period of time...
to be fair, Martial should have loads more assists than he does. Poor finishing from others has played a part in it being so low.

You can apply that to everyone though. Becks, Giggs, Ronaldo, whoever else, they always created loads and it's not like there was crazy finishing levels before. The forwards got on better positions then, the wingers delivered better and more quality chances, and overall team played at a much higher level. Over a longer period of time the number will be realistic to what they should be at. Off one season, they'll be higher the next. Tends to even out.

Very true, but I think feeding the likes of Cantona and Ruud compared to Lukaku and a past it Rooney is a huge difference maker.

I don't think we've had one clinical attacker or one ounce of attacking cohesion since he's been here so it's hard to judge for me. Best was Zlatan and a) I don't think José player Martial much with him that season, and b) I personally didn't think Zlatan was that good.

Hardly. I would struggle to think of a single bad miss from a Martial pass this season, never mind enough of them to close the gap with assist machines like Giggs and Beckham.
I remember there being loads since he joined.

One of our best chance creators I believe. When he's on form his link up play is very good.

I want him gone more than anyone else at the club. He makes my blood boil, and also attracts some absolutely awful fans.
