Well, the fear came true. Barcelona just can't seem to handle the pressure in the Champions League since their last win. It's incredibly frustrating to see them having these meltdowns over and over, especially at the expense of Liverpool probably winning the whole thing now. I think I'm just going to stop following football for a while. I'm not a masochist.
I owe you an even bigger apology

I knew it wouldn’t be easy at Anfield but this was a historical failure. At least Valverde is finished

Thank you, Daysleeper. Some great semifinals our teams just played there. Shit happens in football now and then, but when the disappointment settles you should take pride in your team for being a part of such memorable matches.
It’s gonna be great showing my son Messi highlights one day and fast forwarding through Roma and Liverpool

But congrats, the first leg flattered us and the second leg destroyed the club

All the best in the final

In one game, Liverpool scored 4 times the amount of goals we scored at OT in the CL this season.

Against FC Barcelona.

Ours was a handball goal by Fellaini against Young Boys.

United getting to the QFs and scoring one goal at OT all season is scandalous!

As much as it hurts to say this, we have every reason to be envious of Liverpool right now. They play with quality, desire and pride for the shirt.

Liverpool had leaders on the pitch tonight, Barca didn't. Their heads dropped at one nil and it could have been 2 nil very early on, had that been the case I think Liverpool could have won this by 5 or 6 to be honest. I thought half time came at a decent time for Barca to go in, sort out their tactics and change things a bit but actually, they were even worse afterwards so I don't know what the feck was said at half time but it didn't work clearly!

2 nil comes and it's like the whole team had Vietnam flashbacks, thought 'Oh feck, here we go again!' and stopped playing. Even when it was 3 all going into the last 5 minutes of the game when they knew a goal would seal it for them there was no urgency or desire whatsoever. Credit has to go to Liverpool of course but Barca were really awful, can only hope that Ajax or Spurs provide a better opposition but sadly I think their name is on the cup already. Watching this has just made me all the more depressed about ourselves though, judging by posts on here many feel the same way.

This makes Kompany’s screamer a little more bearable. I still can’t believe what happened. Now if Brighton can just get a result.

Painful to say but hats off to Liverpool, they were fantastic tonight, just like they have been all season.

Barcelona didn't get going at all, shadow of the side we saw at the nou camp.

Why are you placing any blame on the fans for this nightmare season?

Our performances at home all season have been utterly utterly fecking pathetic. At any other big club they'd have been getting booed off the pitch almost every week.
Come on man face it, fact is OT has turned into a library on match days. Our away support are the best but OT just isn’t intimidating anymore.I can remember Barca wilting at OT back in the 80s much like they did at Anfield tonight.
Of course the players are mostly to blame but supporters have to support.

Barca weren't all that great in the Camp Nou either. Never in a million years were they deserving of a 3-0 result yet that dembele miss in the last kick of the game came back to haunt. Liverpool missed chances in the 1st leg they didn't tonight and Liverpool gave a big warning when they outplayed Barca before that 2nd goal against the run of play.

This Liverpool team are all about fitness and energy, they press, harry and hassle all night and any side not tuned in against them especially in Anfield will be hammered.

Barcelona in comparison are not consistent or capable enough to win these knock out ties anyone. They lack energy and are one of the slowest Barcelona teams i have ever seen, their staring 11 had 7 players in their 30s tonight, outlining that a rebuilding job will be needed to get Barca back to standard required for these Champions league ties.

The fact that United lost 4-0 on AGG to that Barcelona side is further proof of far this once great club has fallen and as another thread says on here i don't see any light at the end of the tunnel so long as the same owners and board room are in place.

Were they his purchases or your DOF?

Here's a pretty good article about their setup.

I believe Edwards was on the staff at liverpool before klopp came, but was elevated to technical director after klopp arrives.

They had to sell klopp on Salah, but I'm sure that he had a big say on most other signings.

Things like their strategy of looking for bargains on relegated clubs wijnaldum, Robertson, and shaqiri), and the focus on buyinh younger players are probably edwards' philosophy, but things that klopp goes along with.

Klopp is the primary reason for the success they're having now, but I feel like the club will be in good hands after he leaves as long as Edwards is still there.

feck off Barcelona. That was pathetic. Their defence goes completely to pieces in these high pressure CL away ties. What was the marking on Wijnaldum? The dozing off from the corner? Alba giving back to Livepool for two goals? Shocking stuff.

So Liverpool are winning their 6th. Lovely end to a lovely season.

Pathetic is an understatement. I'll hate them for the rest of my life for that shit show.

I hope their fans give them absolute hell when they return. Concede 4 from Origi and Wijnaldum...

While already in bed, I was watching the last ten minutes of the match in that shiny live animation (live graphical display of ball movement, which is always ridculously up to date) that kicker offers, and i've seen Messi's name pop up exactly once. It was a foul he gave away in injury time. Did Liverpool make it their number one priority to take him out, or did he have a shit evening?

Actually this part is what I admire at this forum. If you read through some of the last pages lots of users who actually dislike Liverpool show them respect.

It got me s.th else thinking though. Due I have couple friends from Barcelona and they all praise Messi as the best ever. I don't watch La Liga and Barca only in CL but in big games (1st leg last week was an exception) I remember Messi not performing in big games. Might be simply that they couldn't compensate the lose of Iniesta who imo might be the best ever playing football!

Outplayed them in the first leg despite the score

Outplayed them rotten in the second half and blew them away

Is it fair to say the 2 best teams in Europe right now are now 2 English Teams in City and Liverpool??

He made a couple of good passes, one beautiful and Suarez should have scored. He was quiet for his own standards, however. I think Liverpool only had to hack him down once and he fluffed the free kick.

There's only one United!
So we paid 89 million for Pogba and Barca paid 140 million for Coutinho.
Pogba seems a bargain next to him!

So what do we think about tonight? Normally I'd say Ajax is the obvious choice but the way this CL season has played out, it's hard to make any predictions at all... Spurs have the major advantage (compared to us last night) that they don't need to worry about conceding or away goals - just win with any other score than 0-1 and you're in the final. I think they can do it, but Ajax will be up for it as well. Really looking forward to the game and hoping for an early Spurs goal.

I'm still hesitating which team I'd rather face in the final. Not sure how Ajax would fare against us, but Spurs know us well and generally match up quite well to us. If not us, much much rather Ajax than Spurs though.

After training today at Carrington Ole should say, “where the feck do you think you’re going”? as they walk to the car park to get into their limos. “Turn around and go to the briefing room”(or what ever it’s called)
There they will be sat down on cheap plastic seats and shown the full 90 minutes of last nights match.
Then nothing said, let them think on what’s just happened, what they’ve seen, Ole should of course be watching the players on a cctv monitor in another room just too see and hear their attitude.
All Ole need do is say “usual time tomorrow”.

There is no point in trying to make sense out of anything that happens in the Champions League anymore.

Barca were exactly like this at OT and we lost 1-0 to them (shows our level vs Liverpool doesn't it). I feared they would repeat the same performance at Anfield and they did. Though I thought with a 3 goal lead, they might lose only 2-1 or even 3-1, didn't expect Liverpool to keep a clean fecking sheet.

There really isn't, it's been so crazy, actually it already started a few years ago.

I thought Ajax was out after their loss against Real
I thought Ajax was out after their draw against Juventus
I thought Juventus was out after their loss in Madrid
I thought United was out after their loss against PSG
I thought Liverpool would struggle after our draw against Bayern
I thought City would still progress after their loss in Tottenham
I thought we didn't stand a chance against Barca last night

All in one season. Absolutely bonkers.
