I looked on the bright side last time we were in the EL and thought it would be nice to pick up this trophy that was missing from our cabinet but I did not want to us play in this shite competition ever again. Waste of time.

I know I shouldn't knock it, because it is pretty much our level at this point, but this is just the most boring competition in existence. The players never seem up for it, the stadium is usually half empty, there's 2 additional games in the most busy part of the season, if you qualify for the knockout stages and the only reason you'd ever be excited for it is if you're struggling for a top 4 finish. It's just awful. I'd rather be 8th than 6th.
In typical fashion, you send your B team until QF. It is the fans that suffer

Might as well try to win it, there's no way were finishing in the top four next season.

Baffling to see people thinking we’re too good for this competition when we won’t be good enough to win it
Arsenal and Chelsea have not been impressive since the beginning of the season but, one of them will more than likely win the Europa League.

Might as well try to win it. It's silverware and probably our best chance at getting into the CL the following season.

Last time we won it I was really involved because the club completed the europiean thropy haul but now it should just be a platform for young players because doing the best in the league has to be our priority

Like i said, act like we are not in Europe next season, dont bring players for PL on travels, nor them on bench at home nothing. It has nothing to do with me being arrogant or see EL as something below us, its about our shit fitness and without Europe, with very good transfer window, we have a chance to zerg first half of season and be more fresh then others.

We need to win this. And this time, let's do it convincingly against good teams after a strong summer rather than fluking past Celta Vigo.

Can't we improve our fitness in the off-season?

And will we be subsidizing the tickets of supporters who come out to see us in Europa games if we aren't sending major players out?

To be fair, we deserve that. Ed must be so happy that our marketability is such that UEFA want to immediately make a song and dance of our involvement in their prestigious tournament.

Can’t wait for those 5:45pm Thursday night games in Zagreb.

I assume there’s an element of seeding at this point?

Even if we improve our fitness, lets not pretend that EL for some fecked up reason doing some weird shit to teams in PL, dunno whats the % of EL teams dropping points in next PL game after Europe game. One year Arsenal did it with youngsters under Wenger and they passed group so its not like i want us to play u14 in those games.

Well tbh, if we make it clear what kind of players we are using in EL and not do Arsenal under Wenger when fans went to watch their team in Zagreb just to find that Wenger had some fun with starting XI, it should be fair game, otherwise, fans should be pissed for being tricked.

Hope one of Arsenal or Spurs join us. Arsenal winning Europa and finishing 5th, with the other 2 making Top 4 would leave us lonely eh?:)

3 years ago now we won this tournament against Ajax. Fast forward and they are possibly going to be in champions league final while we are still foundering.

Says it all about the decision makers at the club.

Yeah, let's gift one of the most expensive squads in Europe with free weekdays for the superb job of failing to get into top 4.

The squad needs to be ready to play 2 times per week, be it UCL or UEL games, keeping key players at home in a european competition sends an awful message about how you can get away with underperforming for the team and be rewarded with less work the next season and even less expectatives.

Pretty decent chance Dinamo will get into the Champions League if they get a good draw.

Yep, not like we are gonna be challenging for the title, why should we give these lazy feckers time off from the EL? The competition should be winnable while getting 3rd or 4th in the league.

Currently looking at the league tables across the other big 5 leagues and the following teams are likely to be in the EL next season:

Spain: Valencia; Sevilla who are level on points (Getafe - who are three points ahead of both have an outside shot of dropping in to the EL if they drop off the Top 4 pace)

Italy: Milan; Roma who are level on points (Lazio have a chance, being two points off both with two games to go)

Germany: This one's a mess. Any one of Borussia Monchengladbach (4th), Bayer Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim, and Werder Bremen (9th) could finish in the EL places, and only 1 point separating 4th and 6th.

France: St Etienne are pretty secure in 4th and should qualify. Lyon are in 3rd and will go into the CL Qualifiers - if they lose that tie in August, they'll drop into the EL group stages.

Obviously, this doesn't include the 3rd placed teams in next season's CL, but it gives a good hint at the sort of competition we could be looking at next season in the early stages and potential R32 opponents if the worst case scenario happens and we finish 2nd in our group.

Hopefully we finish 1st in our group and can avoid a tricky tie in the R32, but the level of competition here does not seem that daunting to me. Just hope the kids do the job for us in the early stages and we can then bring on the main men for the R16/QF stages.

We really should be winning this next season, IMO.

It's impossible and pointless for us to try and compete in 4 competitions next season. Rotation should be heavy in all of the early cup rounds, then concentrate on just 1 if we get through far enough with the B team.

Play the reserves and youth. Focus on the league only.
If we do this and get back to the CL, we'll probably enter the group stage as a 3rd/4th seeded team, impacting our chances of qualifying for the knockout rounds.

We're in the Europa so we should have a good go at it, rotate well and still maintain a good level of competition in the league.
