Its great that he is only 21.

He can be a good winger for a full ten years and then following 'the United way' I am confident that we can drag atleast another 5 years out of him at fullback.

Terrific value.
Martial and him as our fullback pairing in 2029

Ban, being a drama queen? Never.
:D

Anyway, i'm excited about this lad. Been a long, long time since we've had an actual fecking winger at the club. Our obsession with wide forwards has been part of our downfall. So its a refreshing change to have someone who will actually try and stick wide and has genuine pace. Not to mention he's actually a fecking right winger! I've been crying about having one of those for years and years. (yes I know he plays on both sides)

Will be our best signing, ever. The scousers and citeh will rue the day they let this one go under their radar. I’ve just got onto my mate who’s a mason and he’s getting me a quote for his inevitable statue.
Are you in the llluminati?

Yeah, same as. Not really sure what to expect from him but it is nice to see us make these sort of transfers. £15m is a steal for a 21 year old British player these days so he'll either be a bargain if he turns into a Man Utd quality winger or we'll probably re-coop the money if he doesn't. Win win.

Although I really hope it's not a sign to come that our transfer policy this summer will be the grand total of "young, british, look decent, sign 'em up?"

Under a tree.
Reported fee keeps jumping up, was 10m then 15m, now seems to be 17m plus add-ons...to 20m.
For someone in their last year of their contract we don't seem to haggle well

It's a change from buying so called ready made players for extortionate fees and then complaining they don't have desire.

I'm pleased with this one. We need a good mix of player recruitment.

He played most of the games as left winger. Maybe he can play on both sides but most of his games are as left winger.

Agree with the point though, about time we signed a proper winger.

From never having heard of this lad before we were linked I'm actually pretty excited about this signing. He looks a terrific prospect.

Depends on your definition of ‘technical’. He can play across four attacking positions at a top tier level.
He can. He’s a top player. Just not because of his brilliant touch and technique in my eyes. He’s rapid, direct and has great movement and finishing. His first touch and general ball-manipulation are not at the same level of the rest of his game though, however, he’s obviously still a top player, that much isn’t in dispute.

£15million up front with £3million in add-ons seems to be the most quoted fee doing the rounds - which in todays market isn't a huge outlay. Like the look of him personally. Maybe not the immediate answer but who knows, could be a revelation.

Well, either that, or the club don't let the tabloid papers know whenever we're working on a fee for a player and they just blatantly make it up as they go along.

This season really killed my mood and i am sorry because i became a moaner( i am aware of that, at least). So i don't see what is the point of this signing. His goal/assist stats are average at best. I also like his speed but he is not quality for first option winger. We have depth on wings. We need instant quality. We just added another average( solid, decent, hot prospect) player to our squad. He will just take minutes from Chong or Gomes or Greenwood.

I hope that this is not our only right wing signing.
He can play either wing but prefers playing on the left according to the Times article. He's gonna be competition for Martial mainly.

It's tricky somewhat when the high profile young players in Europe are now being valued at £60m+

Given the major surgery required in our squad, we'll need to take a few punts I guess and ironically, British talents in the championship seem to be fairly cheap right now. Bogle for example who was one of the best and most played youngsters in the Championship last season (18 years old, plays for Derby) is rumoured to be close to signing to Brighton for just 10 million. Either way, i'd be happy with a few more British punts with a few high profile European signings sprinkled in.

That's it for our right wing, i guess. We seem to be waiting for Sancho and he is probably not available this year.

This hasn't really quenched my thirst for signings, will start to relax a bit once we've signed a right back or central midfielder.

Don't you guys take this away from me, he'll play on the right. We have a huge burning hole on the right, Ole knows this. Please play him on the right Ole. Please, please. With all the cherries on top.

Don't worry mate, once we get Mata tied down to a new contract the RW will be sorted.

Hopefully the start of replacing the current sorry lot.

Dalot and James down our right is a massive improvement on our current right hand side, that's the current standard you're dealing with.

There is a bit of a 'Kenny Dalglish' about Ole's intention to bring back the Glory Days on the back of british signings. We know how that worked for Kenny signing Toothie, Andy Carroll and couple of other rubbish british players.

Worrying times.

Two questions:

Why do we always seem to pay higher than the initial reported fee?

Will he go straight into the main squad or do people expect him to be loaned out?
Loaned out ? Never

He could very well be starting for us - he has something we badly lack.

Who says we do pay higher than the intiial reported fee ? Usually both seller and buyer want to sound like they have made the possible deal.

So the buyer will report the initial fee, while the seller will report the fee including clauses.

I see him as an impact player in his first season with us -- stick him on around the 68th minute and run at the tiring defenders and give them some twisted blood.

BBC, SSN, Telegraph and the Times are saying it's £15M plus £3M in add-ons. I would trust them over James Robson lads.

On paper at least this is an extremely sensible signing. 21 years old, cheap, lightening quick, equally comfortable on either wing and he won't bring huge expectations or throw a strop if he doesn't start every game. With us being in the EL next season it's the perfect time to sign players of this profile with a view to the future.

Cant wait for him to meet Lingard & Rashford and their influence on him so he can reveal his new clothing/DJ equipment line "DJamez"
