I don't think anyone is necessarily expecting miracles from this transfer but it's certainly a step in the right direction after the barren run of wingers we've had the last few years.

Any quick, high-intensity winger has the capacity to be dangerous. Hopefully those good qualities can translate into consistently good performances.

In my opinion 5 players will be the minimum amount of signings we'll going to make. I can't help to think that if we get rid of players (especially the high earners aka Sanchez, Lukaku and DDG) then there will be more. Assuming we sell no one and we add Wan Bissaka, Koulibaly/De Ligt, James, Maddison/Bruno Fernandes and someone like Ndidi then we might scrap our way to 4th place.
Not sure about a couple of those players but if that was our window we might make top 4, still not sure where the goials are going to come from when you look at the firepower of the other teams.

woop de bloody doo. excuse me if I'm not too thrilled that we've managed to sign a player from a mid-Championship team
I had a good feeling about Martial, Pogba, Fred, Lukaku, and heck, the whole lot of them.

Anyway, on a serious note, I have good feeling about this kid too. :D

I'm sure the wonderful fans on here will give him every chance to prove himself.

Before declaring him utter shite after five minutes. Or before he's kicked a ball, more realistically.

I give them 3,4 minutes in the first game! If there is not a goal and assist, there will be a meltdown in match day thread.

Watch him go and have a stinker now.
I hope he has one, and the rest of Wales team. Ok, he can have great game, and rest of them can be awful. Ok?

Christ there's some tiresome miserable wankers on here.
What make you say that? I strongly believe we have at least 12,13 potential DOFs on Caf. They know better than anyone else. What a waste of talent..

Welcome Dan! Really pleased with this one. I think he'll make himself a first choice starter very quickly

Welcome to United lad! Looking forward to seeing him play!

I know he has blistering pace, does this kick and run thing a lot (my fav part about football probably), but what sort of a winger is he?

Is he someone who hugs the touchline or cuts inside more often? Also how are his crosses?

Welcome! Good work ethic, to bad it will last first few games even if that many.

Tbf easy to do that when you're playing for a Championship side against the best side in the country. That game alone was like Swansea's cup final. Hopefully we see that kind of work rate week in week out.

I'm seriously impressed by his pace though, it's like someone pressed the fast forward button on his clips he's that fast.

I'm not holding my breath though that he's just the start of our transfer business, he's literally been the only one we've been linked with with any certainty while everyone else seems to be a pipe dream or just the usual transfer BS. I'm almost expecting him to be the only player we bring in this window

About 5m too much I think.

Let's hope he lives up to the hype

Is this the same Vinnie Jones who grabbed Gazza's bollocks in the 80s?

He's a young talent. His attributes are there for all to see but the reason he is only £15m is that he is not yet the finished article. I'm looking forward to seeing him in a united shirt.

Good. I'm sick of Utd going after Top Top names but being unable to sign them, because of "I prefer to live in London, Madrid or Barcelona" or " My dream is playing for Madrid" BS. The other way is signing young talent and watch them become Top Top players with Utd.

It’s a shrewd signing that United hasn’t made enough in the last 7-10 years. Low cost signing with upside (how much unknown) that isn’t costly and can at the very least bring depth to the squad or could be a full time starter.

And iirc he counts towards the homegrown quota.

Looking over my shoulder.
Funny watching some Norwegian pundits talking after the City match saying he was destined for a good PL team. Also, where he outpaced Walker both without the ball, not many can do that!

Not sure who you're referring to, we've surely had our share of so called 'top names' over the last few years, it's just most have failed, as we've also had our share of young talent - Martial, Dalot, Depay, etc, again most just haven't cut it, under our setup anyway.

This signing is nothing new really, and I hope we don't lurch from signing lots of 'top names' to non at all, imo we just need the same sort of approach, but with better scouting, and better coaching/management.

This feels like the sort of signing we used to make when building teams. Hope he does well and I'm hoping for a few more of these to watch them grow over the next few seasons. Also, actual real pace in a winger....

Who is the fastest player in the premier league right now?
Martial, he is so fast that when he moves the world seems to slow down.
Otherwise it's supposed to be Fosu Mensah.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"

It's hardly "easy", opposition or not.... City have played loads of teams who didn't chase back like that. What it is (or should be) is the norm for professional footballers.

I'd rather see it as a positive mentality of a player with a good work ethic .... that alone puts him above some of our current squad, ability or otherwise.

So would anybody care to guess how long it will be before those little hamstrings go ‘twang’ and the cafe is telling us ‘we told you so’???

We don’t win anything without a welsh player in the team so at least that stat is sorted
