£50-55 mil would probably be enough - and we will have solved our rightback problem for the next 10 years.

Maybe that ITK from reddit could be right after all. Didn't he say AWB is nearly a done deal just a fee needs to be agreed??

70mil to have RB nailed down for over a decade is value for money IMO.

He will never go for £70m. Offer Palace a fee in the region of £50m and it will be a done deal.

He'd be a good signing but £70m would of course be unjustifiable. That's the kind of money you'd be talking for Bruno fernandes. There are other options even if we're determined to buy British.

It'd cause us problems negotiating every other transfer this summer if we bought a young full back for double his value.

Still think Darmian can live up to his potential. That pre season in 2015 was immense. Don’t bother paying out for AWB

We already have that problem. We're desperate and everyone knows it.

Palace don't need to budge. They have a player under contract who's happy to stay. We either pay the fee or move on. It's as straight forward as that.

Trouble is I expect the "move on" option will see us start with Young at RB again next season..

To be fair to Darmian he actually looked fairly decent until Sanchez decide to blitz him, was never the same after that.

I think his major points were - James (well duh), all in for AWB with Munier as a back-up, DDG confirmed to PSG this summer and then he was harping on about Rabiot.

Long summer ahead, will feel even longer with the dribble to listen to. Sadly I'm a sucker and fall for garbage like that :(

I think that ITK's full of shit but Bouhafsi did say we're a possible destination for Rabiot.

AWB? No and no.
Strangely he seems better at controlling the ball when at speed, compared to when he is not running.
Then don't want especially with the price mentioned. Having 2 defensive full backs in Shaw and him won't help us much. I want a very offensive one.

That's exactly my thinking. A great attacking fullback can really improve a team much more than some may think. Liverpool have two fantastic outlets on both sides of their defence, possibly their biggest strength is having those two brilliant, productive attack-minded fullbacks. Us having Shaw and AWB isn't going to get us where we need to be. I'd like Meunier signed for this particular reason, decent and versatile stopgap, whilst we try to scout the appropriate fullbacks to really elevate our team. Shaw and AWB ain't the guys...

Don't want to hear people complain about how we attack if they want Shaw and AWB as the fullbacks.

Our interest will make him wanting to stay less of a problem

These type of players we should be signing with proactive scouting like we did it with Daniel James this season. Massive fee for a a player for a defensive full back ain't worth it specially when we need massive spending in other crucial areas such as the midfield as well.

I'd rather want a team which conceeds 1 and scores 3 than a team which keeps a clean sheet and struggles offensively with lack of width and quality service.

He has excelled playing in a flat back four at palace our full backs rather be high up the pitch bombing in attack than playing a flat back 4.

Rb is a position we badly need.

Makes more sense to spend 70m on an attacker (Pepe, Sancho, Thauvin) and persist with Dalot and Laird than to pay that much for him.
This.

And from what I’ve seen him we’de be overpaying massivly.

Exactly my thoughts.

Have always maintained that AWB’s attacking game wasn’t as bad as some folks here make it out to be.

I wouldn’t mind signing him for around £50 million at all. He’s a pretty special two-way fullback.
Well the same people are calling Luke Shaw defensive full back.. whatever the feck that means, so that have real clue...

I'm guessing anyone who is not Trent Alexander or Andy Robertson playing under Jurgen Klopp in that Liverpool side is defensive...

Probably became a full back in the same way Valencia did. Quick, good dribbler, no end product. You can still be a very good full back without end product. As a winger though you're a busted flush if you can't score or cross.

Don't listen to fake scouts cause he didn't hit a million assists playing for a palace team...

https://totalfootballanalysis.com/p...-palace-tactical-analysis-analysis-statistics
Reading that link... He's basically everything that we wish Ashley Young was.

If Pogba stays... can you imagine when he switches the play to him isolated 1v1 vs his defender... we might actually create something for once.

If Ole sees him as a must buy, I imagine it's for this threat we would possess.

*Although saying that, if there's the choice to either only get AWB & stick with our current options at RW, or get Meunier & a top RW, I'm choosing the latter option. I don't think I could take much more of us having zero RW presence.
