People really under estimate what sheer speed can do.

Lennon used to turn Evra into a mess just with his pace alone.
I've been reluctant to bring him up as comparison, but yes, James reminds me of a prime young A.Lennon

It makes me sad that none of Gomes, Greenwood or Tuanzebe will actually get a proper chance in the team this season. The centre mids are the ones we should be avoiding playing at all costs.

Good workout. For all the scorn often poured on Serie A here, Milan were far better on the ball. Superior technical quality. Adding players like Maguire, Dybala and Fernandes would make us so much better. That said, we were so much more exciting when the kids came on. Ole needs to give them game time. Gomes has the makings of a super star! Greenwood we already know is headed for the top. Oh and it's official...Matic is finished!

There's a timidity to Mata, Matic, Pereira and Martial's game, which means our structure suffers when they're all on the pitch at the same time. I'd have Martial in my first XI for his other qualities, but he needs to be joined by direct players in order for us to attack effectively.

Rashford, James, Lingard, McTomminay, Sanchez, and Greenwood all have the requisite directness to go for the jugular every time they receive the ball. Basically, at least 4 players from that list need to be playing in order for us to function near our best.

Out of this game....

Matić - no where near good enough for next week's game.

Martial - still not sure what to do with him. He's just not a threat.

James - Great attitude, should be the first coming on from the bench.

Gomes - nifty fella, still something to improve.

Axel - should be our third or fourth CB, behind Maguire, Lindelof, Smalling.

Sell Rojo.

Mctom is fecking great. Calm as a cucumber.

Fred did good coming on. Needs games.

We died a very slow but tragic death in the final months of last season yet we revert to a side that includes Matic, Mata, Andreas [not solely to blame but] 3 players that were poor last season.

The last 10 minutes of that game were refreshing, filled with pace & unpredictability.

I simply refuse to be hopeful whilst Mata, Matic & Young play valuable minutes that our younger players could be.

Started well and then faded away in first away. It was very poor. Improved in second half, once Lingard James Fred came on for Mata, Matic, Pereira we looked so much better. Gomes and Greenwood added much needed urgency and quality.

Gomes is ready and should play instead of Mata. Tuanzebe was impressive.

Also Milan's possession was so sterile, kept ball in their half. We had 30 touches in the box compared to 13 by Milan.

The fact that the players we know should start came on and did well won't be enough to not start with matic and mata next week

First 15 mins of the 1st half & last 20 mins of the 2nd half are the only positives to take.

The rest was very poor

Considering all things, I think Ole has stumbled upon a formula to keep him in the Manager seat for a long while irrespective of new signings.

However, as with all things in life based on taking a firm decision, will he be ruthless enough to implement this tough decision?

He sold Fellani, released Valencia, relegated Young for Wan-Bissaka, tutored and believed in McTom and introduced a pressing game plan.

The tough decision he has to finally take is relegating the older players firmly to the bench and not just introducing but promoting the youngest above them this season.

Ole has the pathway to securing his legendary status as a coach after cementing that as a player. He should just promote the young boys and he is assured of wining trophies this season and securing top four.

I hope he doesn't recognize this fact too late into the season when all hope is lost or once he is sacked due to poor results emanating from his persistence to continue with the old guard and ease the youths into the team slowly.

Hahaha! Edit done. I meant Dybala and Fernandes. As to whether they'll be joining, we're all waiting hey. Unless you know something we don't..

Really worried about Matic. It’s preseason but his declined a lot. He was making a lot of errors, dwelling on the ball, and some woeful passing.

I know Ole will probably still start him cause we don’t have any other alternatives but I rather have Fred starting since he has the legs.

Haven't we got a subs bench? Weve been shite and with some players out there playing absolute dog shit, why aren't we making changes? Madness
Because the point is fitness. A player playing badly is secondary to how many minutes the manager wants to give him

The first XI we used was brutal to watch. Just ridiculously lopsided with everything going down the left like the last few years and too many plodders like Matic and Mata in the middle of the park who are so easy to pass circles around.

We improved after the first set of changes due to Fred and Lingard having so much more energy and running power than the tired old Matic and Mata. Then in the last ten minutes once Gomes and Greenwood came on we went up another level and could easily have won it.

We need someone to play alongside Mac and Matic is not that person
Pogba and Fernandes playing beside McTominay would be ideal for this season. If we can't get Fernandes we need someone else. Longstaff has played 8 competitive games, to suggest he's good enough to be a consistent starter for Utd at this point is crazy. At this point Pogba can't be allowed to leave under any circumstances.

I don't understand how anyone is watching these games and does not think Matic needs to be put out of his misery and a new DM is the biggest need.

How did we play? I was checking the scores and the possession stat showed us having 39%. Did we play on the counter?

I don't think any fans disagree with this. The coaches and everyone internally involved with the club seem to have some weird spell cast on them though
