Eriksen would be superb business, can play the 10 and deeper if needs be and suddenly if we keep Pogba our midfield goes from looking weak to very good. I'm not getting hopes up though, it feels like an Ed briefing that won't come to fruition- but if it does it we have 3 of the 5 problem areas we have in the team, for Ole's first summer that's not bad at all. It can't happen can it?

What would be a good price for Eriksen?
£70m?
Think we'd definitely have to accept Inter's offer of Lukaku then.

Get him out the club.

There have been remarks over the past couple of years about certain types of personalities in the dressing room and it having a negative impact on the others. Think it is fair to say he was most definitely one of them. Sooner he is gone the better.

The funny thing is a lot of our fan base used to hold him up as an example and a future captain. Our fan base seems to have him and Pogba mixed up attitude wise, as evidenced by everyone at the club.

Lukaku is extremely deluded and arrogant. He's just Yakubu with a hard on for himself.

Just sell Lukaku for whatever Inter have in their pockets and do whatever it takes to get Eriksen

Lukaku talked a good game about how mentally tough and determined to succeed he is but when it came down to it he had no fight in him to force his way into Ole's plans.
He can make the same case about Ole favoring Rashford as many on here point out to the favorable treatment Lukaku got from Mourinho earlier last season. And I think both are true, unlucky for him but understandable if he doesn't want to be a back up and sit on the bench.

However this forcing his way out, which seems to be the case with him training in Belgium after the club were expecting him back today, leaves a bad taste and kills the decent picture I had of him on his time here. Let's hope he leaves.

I like Eriksen but to have a very good midfield, I think we would still need a DM. Matic is finished.

If you freeze him out after demanding too high a transfer fee, the net result will simply be that you will sell him next year for a cut price fee, having paid his wages in the meantime and his replacement arriving that much later.

It's time to bite the bullet and just see how much you can get from inter before saying yes and good riddance.

If that's the case how did Chelsea manage to sell Diego Costa in exactly the same scenario?

On social media (:wenger:) This is still the case... it's crazy.

Looks like a briefing to save face and calm the supporters. Look we tried really hard. I don't believe for a second Spurs will sell him to us at this stage of the window.

They will use the money for that Betis bloke. May as well cash in than lose Eriksen for nothing in a year

The Eriksen links seem to be just to look like we're doing something. Nothing will come of it and we'll sell Lukaku to offset the Maguire fee, then maybe Pogba too to line the Glazers pockets a bit after it's too late to replace.

We won't get both that's for sure.
Option Matic sat behind Eriksen and Pogba bossing it. Or Pogba getting crowded and frustrated as our only creativity is nullified?

Bit disappointed but it'll do him good to get some PL game time.

I don't blame him for wanting to leave but thought he would have shown more fight when he got his chances under Ole. I agree with you that the lack of professionalism leaves a bad taste. Up until that point I wanted him to leave but respected him and just saw him as a good player who wasn't a fit for us.

No, it looks like a journalist wrote something and then one or two other journalists copied it hours later.

eh, I was responding to the "our midfield goes from looking weak to very good" assertion. It goes without saying that if we add Eriksen to our options we are better off than otherwise.

I think he had some good games under Ole and yet found himself behind Rashford despite Marcus being worse at times, that was part of my point. Of course you are right he could have showed more fight, but when he gets offers from big clubs such as Juventus and Inter, of course the easier is to go an work for someone who has a better use and values you better. If it is true about his antics that he will ruing his good conduct till now imo.

I think fans need to take some responsibility as well. You can't relentlessly abuse someone and expect them to maintain their levels of respect in return. Lukaku has had some absolute shit from his own fans and I don't blame him for being a bit disillusioned

Klopp is reluctant to play any youth it seems. Crazy to loan out a player when they aren’t making any attacking signings?

Youth players get their chance if they're deemed good enough, e.g. Gomez, TAA, Brewster (and hopefully Hoever and Elliott this season as well).

Just to clarify, I agree with you on this. I just get the impression he doesn't back up all the self-praise about how mentally strong he is etc. I don't think he cares what we'll think of him after how his relationship with Everton fans turned out when he left us. If he scores at OT I'd expect him to rub it in our faces much the same but that's fair enough.

I agree, and yet he was still our best striker, which shows how shit we have been as a team.

https://www.express.co.uk/sport/foo...ng-Paul-Pogba-transfer-plan-Lazio-Real-Madrid

Its on various crap sources including metro and mirror.

Could hold sense, i.e. sell Pogba for £150m, buy Savic for £85m, Eriksen for £65m. 2 for price of 1. I think we'd be better off for that.

I don't believe Levy will sell at a sensible price. I don't believe Madrid will pay sensibly for Pogba or can afford to.

So yeah probably not happening.

Awww bless him. Call him a waaaaambulance. If fans see a player underperforming, not giving their all and being disrespectful then they have a right to give the player some stick, especially given the amount the players earn. I'm sure he has thick enough skin to take it.

He gets way less abuse than Young and Jones. You don't see them sulk or want away.

More opportunism from the club and Woodward attempting to appease the supporters with stories of considering bids for players we're very unlikely to get.

Reeks of the press drumming up a story to keep people hooked for a few more days.

If we genuinely are trying to sign him, it's too late.

Why is it too late exactly?

Surely if both clubs and the player want the transfer to happen they can get it through?
