I'm finding them complain about everything regardless to be honest. This "magic is gone" is a pile of bullshit. They still celebrate, it's still tense and it takes away any injustice.
The "we want our game back" title is also a very cringeworthy angle. Reminds me of Brexiteers and Trump style vague arguments of "we want our country back!"

To be fair to the critics, I don't think they are as fickle as that, as evidenced by them simultaneously wanting a city goal to stand (Jesus), and not (Aguero).
They are pretty consistent in opposition to this, however ridiculous their complaints are.
They should try thumb sucking as a remedy, because technology won't go away.
You see the entertainment value in taking a historical goal away (with no advantage gained). I think the historical goal is actually better for the sport long term than machines taking them away.
That was a disgrace. It took all enjoyment out of City going out.

I would be ok if football came together, looked at marginally offside decisions and came to a conclusion regarding what tolerance should be used for VARs determining offside. I think 1 cm is ok.
That's the thing that makes me laugh the most. We're watching multi millionaires, (many of them probably on juice), play a game that has lost its soul for money for a long time and now some of us wanna complain about magic being gone.

They were marginal decisions, but they were right. I thought it added to the atmosphere as City had killed it dead.
What the feck do you mean, if not for VAR right there, City would have gone through to the semi finals on the back of an incorrect decision. Instead, Spurs went through for their first time ever.

Thing is the emotion from scoring a goal is still there. It's cautious celebration but the initial jubilation of putting the ball in the net is evident. I'd take marginally subdued celebrations over wrongly given goals any day of the week.
You keep citing that one game which was an extraordinary game and with lots on the line . I have seen lots of games in the last 2 years where the entertainment has been significantly reduced because of VAR. I am not against Var but it is a hard sell because the beauty of football is in the pace of the game . My favourite sport is American football which has had reviews for years but people in general hate the sport because it has too many breaks and now football is going that way
It's a drug for me, I'm literally an addict at this point. If I wanna feel the magic of football, I go outside and play it with my mates, amateur football is where it's at for me when it comes to truly enjoying it for what it is. Regarding my post count, nice try....

In the City game VAR got it right. Oddly enough, when I watched I thought the goal that got called back was onside while the one that counted was offside. VAR proved that I was wrong on both and the correct calls were made. The only problem I have is with the offside rule itself. I think there should be clear daylight between the attacked and defender for it to be offside. This way we would be saying "he was onside by a toe" rather than "he was offside by a toe". The only thing I don't like about VAR (so far) is that it interupts the game and puts a delay on celebrations. But in the big game where our opponent scores a goal that shouldn't have counted VAR will now make sure it doesn't count...

The encroachment rule has been there for years. Rice was there to clear the ball he was that far in the box. About time it was punished and as people have said goalkeepers being well off their line before a penalty is even kicked.

We basically had a rule/law that nobody gave a feck to stick to, dont remember last time when ref made a retake penalty call.
Ok so everyone decides there’s a tolerance of 1cm. How are you going to work out where the tolerance level ends and the non tolerance level (2cm) starts? You’re back to square one. VAR would then be in an even more subjective state of deciding things, which will still have to take place. The alternative (and far more logical and simple) is to call all offsides offside. If it’s ridiculously close, so be it.

VAR is the best thing ever introduced in football. What are you talking about? Game is finally fair. Sure, sometimes it is annoying, sometimes it kills mood but it is fair.
