I think he did very good today, he did a bit of everything and a huge % of it was very good.

Much better in the second half. Don't know what the problem was in the first half when the game just seemed to bypass him.

Sloppy at times but he and Pogba were outnumbered in midfield so it was always going to be difficult on the ball. Thought defensively he was solid and had some really nice moments on the ball as well. Good performance and should displace Matic moving forward.

I thought he was class. One of the first names on the team sheet for me.

Not his best, but it is hard to control midfield with a half fit partner, while Jlingz and Pereira were all over the place.

If we don't sign a DM, he will take over Matic's spot.
Does his job with the ability he has, hard working and disciplined player that can sit behind Pogba and Bruno.
Just the beginning!

Didn't look as comfortable at left side of midfield or am I overthinking things? In the end he did show his newly acquired passing skills. I want to see him take more risks

Better in the second half but he didn't look after the ball well enough overall. Both him and Pogba need to improve on that because we were losing the midfield battle because of that.

I really enjoyed the moment after the third goal where McTominay was giving a little speech to get the lads fired up again.

He was really poor in the first half, better in second once we were few goals up. I can see why there is a place for him as a squad player but he’s miles off the level needed to start regularly in a two man midfield.

Much better 2nd half after a dodgy first half. Might just have been nerves but his passing was very off early on.

He is far better than Matic, I don't want to see Matic starting ahead of him. His energy, not dwelling on the ball like Matic does, those two alone make him far better. Also he is far better partner to Pogba. Pogba and Matic are a suicide.

When the ball is passed to him with an above average speed, it bounces off his leg. He needs to work on his control imo.

Wish we had proper DM in the squad (not Matić but someone who can still play football), think he would me brilliant in Herrera box to box role, have a feeling he's kind of underused in this one.

Looked like he was the leader during those post-goal huddles. Pretty sure I heard him say “we go again”, comically.
Great to see. Hopefully he progresses enough to be a mainstay because he’s a leader we need.

He wasn’t at his best today - gave the ball away sloppily at times, especially in the first half. Grew in to the game a bit but still below his level. Must be hard in a midfield with Pogba and Pereira because one is so unpredictable and the other is a bit shit.

Mixed on him. His level isn't quite where I see us wanting to be but he's a decent option for now.

Not at his best, him and Pogba being poor on the ball was a big problem in the first half. He will get plenty of chances this season, but he needs to do better.

He was nervous like the rest of the team in the first 15 minutes but grew into the game, especially in the second half. Think he's developing into a very good player and importantly cares about the club. His increased range of passing is pleasing on the eye.

Sloppy and nervy first half, but good second. I guess it remains to be seen if he and Pogba can work in a MF 2, but unfortunately i think we will miss Herrera as the season goes by
Exactly my thoughts. Hopefully he will continue to improve.

He's just a taller Cleverly really - tidy enough player and a good squad option to have but not quite good enough to be a real top-drawer CM for any team with big aspirations. However, as long as he's putting in a shift and allowing the more gifted lads to play, good on him.

He's head and shoulders our best midfielder after Pogba. Imagine saying that start of last season.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time
One of his worst games of the last six months, but he was still decent so that's not a bad thing if that can be his lowest levels.

Did seem a bit strange that he seemed to be playing on the left and Pogba on the right. Didn't notice if that continued in the second half but it definitely seemed that way in the first.

He's nothing like Cleverley.

Cleverley was a completely different player

Nonsense, he has far more character and a lot more in his locker than Cleverly. Besides, we don't need 11 world class players. Jordan fecking Henderson is a starting player for a team that got nearly 100 points and won the CL.
